Welcome to the Guitar Of The Month entry for July 2020!
ProjectGuitar.com's Guitar Of The Month contest is a showcase for members to exhibit their creations and to vote on their favourites. The contest is open entry for any and all members, new or old. Winner(s) receive a featured article at the head of the ProjectGuitar.com homepage and elevated member status. ProjectGuitar.com receives tens of thousands of unique visitors monthly; Guitar Of The Month is a great way to showcase your creations to the world!
Submissions are open throughout the month with public voting open in the last week. Polls close on the first weekend of each month.
Lastly, if you didn't win a previous month's Guitar Of The Month contest, you are encouraged to enter your build again the next month for a maximum of three consecutive months. Sometimes one entry just hits it out of the park and eclipses everything!
Tips and Guidelines
- Upload a maximum of eight photos for the instrument in your post
- Ensure that your guitar has a name otherwise we'll make one up
-
List additional descriptive information specific to the build; for example....
- The woods and materials used, especially if there is something unusual in there!
- Scale length(s) and other specific configuration details
- Electronics, pickups, etc.
- Is this your first build, fifth or five-hundredth?
- A bit of information on your own background as a builder helps give context to your build.
- Was it built in the garage, at school, work or in your own shop?
- A summary of the build's history. Was it built for yourself, friend/family or a client? Did you design the instrument and its specifications or was it built to spec?
- What were the inspirations behind the instrument and why were various build aspects chosen?
- Any background on what makes it special?
-
Posting a link to your guitar-building website, Photobucket, Facebook, etc. is fine, even if it is your business. In the spirit of fairness towards less experienced builders, we encourage professional builders to consider whether their entries constitute being "fair".
- Commercial "standard" models are not a valid entry, guys....Guitar Of The Month is about unique and characterful builds, not rubber-stamped production units!
- We reserve the right to pull entries that are thinly-guised adverts; ProjectGuitar.com is about community, sharing build processes and the exchange of ideas - not a vehicle for adverts by members that don't engage with the community.
- If you documented your build in the forums, post a link to the thread; instruments with a build thread shared tend to attract more votes from the general community. In our experience this is the biggest attractor of votes.
- ProTip: Voters vote with their ears as well as their eyes....if you have any soundclips of the instrument or even a YouTube video, do post it! Everybody loves to look at beautiful instruments, but hearing them demo'ed is 10x as important.

Unsure what to write? Have a look around the entry archives for suggestions!

If you have any questions about the contest, either PM the moderator team or ask forum members; we're a helpful bunch!

Greetings all,
Hopefully all members here on ProjectGuitar.com have had a relaxing holiday season and are ready to greet the new year with much vim and vigor!
Some of you may have noticed a few changes gradually creeping in over the last couple of months to the way the forum is structured. Now we're over the cusp of the New Year period and staring down the barrel of 2020, it seems like a good opportunity to explain what some of these changes entail:
- A new subforum has been created to allow the documenting of any non-guitar projects, aptly titled the Non-Guitar Build Section. This is the place for you to describe and document any current projects you have on your workbenches that may be of interest to other fellow builders. This could be woodcarving, furniture construction, renovation projects, building work, CNC jobs, DIY pedal build logs - anything that doesn't necessarily fit under the banner of a guitar build. We're a keen bunch of DIY-ers around these parts, so if you have something to show off feel free to place it into this new area. Several older posts from other members have been relocated here to get the ball rolling.
- The Auction/Website Supplies and Public Classified Sections have been merged into a single subforum called The Marketplace. All content that was previously in both old forums have been retained. Any buy/sell/swap items you would like to share with other members are still free to be placed in this area. You are also encouraged to place any tip-offs for good deals found through your travels on the internet that may benefit the guitar-building community here. Found a good buy on some flame maple caps? Pop a note in here to alert other users. Got some old guitar parts or tools you'd like to sell? Add a new post in this section. As usual, members are encouraged to take ownership of any classified ads they choose to create and keep them updated - feel free to bump the post if your item(s) for sale are still current, and mark things as "sold" as required.
- Older subforums that have passed their use-by date have been cleaned up. These include the categories previously held under the old Tutorial and Reference section. Any posts too damaged to be useful (images lost, broken links, missing attachments) have been given the old heave-ho. Posts that contained useful information have been retained and where possible turned into an article, many of which are now visible through the normal channels on the main page or the drop-down menus of this site. Anything else left behind in these old forums has been moved to their corresponding general Tech Area of the forums - namely the Solidbody Guitar and Bass Chat, the Acoustic and Hollowbody Guitar Chat, the Inlays and Finishing Chat, the Electronics Chat, the CNC Chat and the Tools and Shop Chat areas. This ensures that any old content that was still valid remains on-site, even if only for sentimental reasons. If you had an old post here that was previously referred to, it will still be available using the forum's Search function.
Happy building everyone!
