  1. you dont need to grain fill alder. grain filling is for porus wood like mahogany. i would sand to shape, then a few coats of sanding sealer.
  2. there is no way its fake. look at his other vids. he is awesome.
  3. come on guys! everybody vote this time! lets have the most votes ever on this one.

  7. i am thinking about my next, next build. i was thinking of doing a 7 string chrome diamond plate top les paul with matching diamond plate headstock, and black sides and back. what do you guys think? dont think there is one out there like this, right?
  8. ok, got the truss rod and the fretboard ordered ( thanks doeringer ) so as soon as i recieve them i can finally start the neck carve and setting the neck. i have decided to go with a metallic orange flake for a finish with all black harware, black grovers and black knobs. woo hoo!

  10. I picked up a Jackson JS20 dinky model. The guy I bought it from says he picked it up in 1997. the js series was introduced in 2006 and is a fender made model
  11. i built the neck on my les paul out of soft curly maple. no problems whatsoever. after the frets were leveled, i diddnt even have to adjust the truss rod after it was strung up. dead straight. but i live in new mexico, which is like arizona. not much humidity to change the wood. but it rained a ton yesterday and left it on a table on the porch, and it diddnt change a bit. curly maple neck: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ulguitar007.jpg
  12. tung oil is an OIL wich soaks into wood, so you wont be able to use it on top of sanding sealer.
  13. the download says unable to find the source to download
  14. i would go for the masonite templates. ronnie, the sales person for those templates is great to work with. im sure if you really wanted you could get it with a floyd template instead of a traditional trem that comes with it. are you wanting the floyd to be recessed?
  15. here is a sound sample. please i know im not the best player, so focus on the acutal sound http://h1.ripway.com/killemall1983/VOC009.WAV

  17. thanks, and i have played on it a ton already. it sounds amazing. my favorite guitar already. the finish is several coats of tung oil on the body, and the neck lightly stained and then coated with a few coats of tung oil. thanks for all the great comments everyone! i will get a pick of the whole thing up today.
  18. whew! this is my first gtom entry. this is also my first build where i made the neck. so please not too many negative comments. here is my les paul copy build thread http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=30529 this may ruin it for me, but here is a sound sample (warning old/ new school heavy metal) http://h1.ripway.com/killemall1983/VOC009.WAV i have decided to call this one "Titanic" because it is so freaking heavy specs carved top ribbon grained african mahogany body curly maple set neck 22 xj frets on cocobolo fretboard ken lawrence style headstock black hardware GUITARHEADS active humbuckers 3 way toggle 2 volume, 2 tone about 12lbs. check it out: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ulguitar007.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ulguitar009.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ulguitar008.jpg

  20. NICE! i have been dying for one of these for a long time! 450 is way cheap. i prefer the black cherry finish tho. but that classic black one looks almost exactly like a gibson... almost... actually i like them better than gibsons.
