  1. you could actually make a plug in switch that you wouldn't have to actulaly mod the guitar. i had microphonic pickups long before i knew how to deal with them so i built this little device around a momentary spst switch push button. and a patch cord and a jack that i caniblaized. i can post a pic if anyone is interested. well its a drawing actually. http://www.geocities.com/austenfantanio/st...utterswitch.htm its called the stutter switch
  2. you coudl do it with a wall wart. i would be carefull though... or use a rechargable batterie mounted int he guitar you could recharge through the guitar jack.. ie a stereo jack. the black ice is decently cool i am imlimenting an idea based around it. only there is two version one is active but it uses a little car alarm remote 12v batterie. i am awaiting the diodes ont he other ones.
  3. funny i am not soliciting, as i was wanting a honest opinion as it is still my favorite pedal its so versatile. anyway, they go for 109.95

  7. it would be best to glue the speaker side to the metal side. but dont' glue the actual cone just the rim...

  12. i have a combo of the seeing eye and the other ds1 mods available i can email the things otu. i did them based off of the descriptions from the site. also i have a cloned version of this that is a lot simpler and has the same sound. i can send that out too.

  14. you can mod the carvin wahs on there site for around 25 dollars to do the badhorsie two tricks.. or you can get on from me for a flat 80 bucks i have sound clips
  15. i have a modded carvin wah pedal that has the bad horsie 2 features. all it is different from the first one is the resonance control wich is the resistor paralleled with the inductor and the contour wich alters the sweep of the wah if anyone is interested i have an older sound clip.

    DOD pedal

the yjm was designed to take an already distorted signal and add some highs and mids to it. and to add "clarity" at least to according to the manufacturer. it has a .001uf input cap so it is really brite and not designed to be a standalone pedal. it is basically a mxr distoriton plus with a different input and outptu cap. .001 in and a 4.7uf out. and instead of the 741 opamp it uses a dual opam along the lines of a jrc i think but i dont' rem. anyway i got a clone of it with a switchable rhythmn lead setting. the lead being the thin sound it got originally and the rhythmn to beef it up.. it works nice. in a real dod style box too.
  17. if you cant' get it workign. drop me an email and i can take a look at it for ya.
  18. http://www.shieldselectronics.com alpha pots are like two for 3.50usd or http://www.smallbearelec.com/home.html
  19. try flipping the pickups so that the current treble side of the pickup is now on the bass side.. this always helps me.. also you can do the mod that i sent to the projectguitar tutorial section. it is a blend pot so you can vary the tone on your axe instead of rolling off straight high end.. http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/blendmod.htm
  20. basically the definition of an active pickup is one that blends the charatercistics of the pickup itself and the preamp versatility. otherwise you have a passive pickup with an active system.. ie carvin.. or you have dead pickup with a preshaped non adjustable preamp. ie EMG Emg's have less windings and are done with a thicker wire to make them pickup freq ranges better.. in theory alone this is great if you leave it there and the let the player boost it and shape it to theyre likings. but emg presets the gain and freq response so you have virtually no control over what your amp sees but the passive controls that you had before you put in active emg's neither of these are bad things. but consider this...... lets look at the line six pod mentality.. would you rather have someone convert your guitar signal into a +/- voltage just enough that it triggers a sample of what you want to hear??? thats essentilaly a stripped down version of what the pod does. and what your emg does. how does this apply to us .. well think of it like this.. take a plywood guitar plywood body cheap neck and such put in some dimarzios sounds like crap right????? put in some emg's sounds like emg's right???? see what i mean. i encoruage you to try this and see. the tonality of your guitar doen't transfer through in the same manner as with passive pickups or even a passive pickup driving an active system now on saying that i must personaly say that on my ibanez with the emg 81 in the bridge and my dimarzio x2n in the middle (ie i had a routing on my ibanez done similar to a kramer nightswan.) and with my coil taps and personal eq section i had a perfect combination that i will go back tooo.. again and again. but my purpose was to educate here.. so please hold your stones
  21. the x2n uses alnico magnets unless someone changed yours they have always come that way since the inception of them. also you might want to look at yours. over 20k.. mine is only 14k and thats what the old datasheets used to say. but it still puts otu 510mv.
  22. try carvin pickups. dont' laugh look at there data sheet at their freq responses you can pick the best match up that wya.
  23. no the midi signal was strickly for the fx switching only.. the actual changing of it was based on the position of the crystal necklace that had a mercury based switch system in it. i canablized an old rc car that had a headband for a controller and headback was reverse head forward was forward etc etc.. i dont' have a pic anymore i dont' think i can look and see but i will have to dig throug a couple dozen floppy disks. i might be able to dig up a schematic on it, but it would be partial at best. one of these days i will re do it. but right now i am having too much fun desining my own effects.. i am doing a limited production of my hatemachine pedal.
  24. just to make you smile (hopefully ) heres some of my pedal links http://www.geocities.com/cemaynard1134/sound sledgehammer... My Dual channel Hate Machine it has a dual voice on it.. The song is done on a Six string in dropped "B" Tuning sledgehammer is the current pedal that i produce and will be available at guitar centers and hopefully pedalgeek.com as well as musictoyz.com Rags... this was the first song i did after i set my Ibanez on fire these are the two that are still on this site i am presently tryign to work on a new website. or you can check otu the ones i sell here http://www.geocities.com/thirteenthdevils/ http://www.geocities.com/thirteenthdevils/acidrain.htm http://www.geocities.com/thirteenthdevils//sexed.htm http://www.geocities.com/thirteenthdevils/...s//focalwah.htm http://www.geocities.com/thirteenthdevils/noiz.htm a little more recent sound clips..
