  1. Ya ok that VMC idea seems very interesting. Being in the base section I have never looked there lol. I ordered some things any way, mainly from EMG, cause I plan on doing other stuff in the near future anyway so I will get to have a fiddle. Still cant find however how to source one of them ESP jobby jobs. I might do a thread search aslso and see if I can find some opinions on modboards, I have never had any dealings with them at all. Bobby
  2. Oh loverly Rich thanks for the pic, I ordered piece already though , wasnt sure waiting for your response. The piece I ordered is basically much bigger even than a base fretboard. I thought this would be good also because now I have half an idea to do the cavity covers and maybe headstock as well. That top piece is very very impressive man.
  3. Okedoke here is the deal...short version lol. I hate hate hate and have never understood why so many companies find it so necessary to put knobs, especially volume knobs, right where my big greasy rythmn hand is going to smack them with my neanderthal, metal head wrist action..I got a body coming with 3 x holes and a 3 way. The usual volume area, right under the bridge pickup is getting filled with a killswitch, the switch I am getting cannot be bumped as such and its the perfect spot for it for very quick access etc. Hole two is volume, dont really need tone control, so the question is, what to slot in lucky hole number 3?. I have not really decided yet between another EMG set (WYLDE or KING maybe) or a cal set of Bareknuckles. What interests me most at the moment is on board effects and preamps. I am well aware of the EMG AB and similar, and I notice now ESP have something similar (MM-04 or something from memory....its plonked in their Alexie LAHIOIOIAAOIAAO model or whatever his name is, the dude? with the pink axe). The other issue I have is that there is a double battery compartment and so if I do go with the actives then still have a battery slot open, so preamp is very viable. Whats on the market in this area, whats best, whats crap on a stick and what would you do?..
  4. ah bummer, no probs, I sent an email to gilmer woods to see about http://www.gilmerwood.com/photo_html09-05/10-06-05iw7624.htm as I have not heard back from Rich yet.. mind you I have not heard back from Gilmer woods either lol
  5. ???..how did you guess that Oz?..I have done everything from learning to fence and read books about how to fly 747's to try and emulate Bruce..if only he lived closer so I could stalk the geezer lol. ANyhoo, thats a sweet looking board Metal, beaut speckle pattern. Did you post the pic to show off or you have SW boards for sale here in Oz?...shoot me a pm if you dooz, I wanna get this board done before the cricket season starts....man that board is breath taking and its not even finished to any real degree lol.
  6. damn lol, those snakewood necks are super teh sexay!...awesome, oh pm sent Fryovanni ..Cheers!
  7. mikevirok for me, the combination of them woods looks delectable, truly art.
  8. Gday, Fair enough the snakewood fingerboards I have seen are drop dead gorgeous, but how do they feel to play in comparison to ebony, rosewood etc and is the timber harder or much the same to work with than the standards? I have not had the pleasure of playing on one obviously....yet. No good being so attractive if it feels swampy, specially if its a couple hundred bucks for the swampy timber lol.
  9. Bareknuckle calibrated set of Warpigs or Nail Bombs for the win in the HH route.
  10. ahh awesomeness, I dont have to think about it for days then hehe...just ordered an original it was 5 dollar more expensive, so its just gotta be better right?? lol
  11. Its time now to source the trem for my beloved patchwork axe, I have not spared any expense so far on components, when I was last into guitars so heavily as I am now (I'm a prodigal son) it was always a simply race between Kahler and Floyd, now there are licensed versions every where I look and nothing said of Kahlers pretty much, anyhoo, what is the deal between FRO and Schaller FR, I have a licensed FR on a Jackson and the metal is so so soft, its a simple matter to even strip the allen key recess, real dissapointing. I have read that Schaller version is an upgrade to thr FRO, is this true and if so what is the upgrade?
  12. Ditto, but soon looking to try that calibrated BareKnuckle Nail bomb set...keep hearing such wonderful things, any body running dual warpigs?...lol, way to name a pickup.
  13. ya fascinating, well my money is on "next biggest thing", Line 6 seem almost unable to put a foot wrong, and a succesfull meld of Analog/Digital along these lines really scratches me where I itch.
  14. ya photoshop is definately the way, is your electronic copy vector?...send me a copy anyway I might be able to help email it to me - millis at gmail dot com
  15. +1 I did the same thing, saw this beautiful top with carve, just nice, then started seeing all this gouging and mess and thought NO!!!! What happened? Then I finished scrolling was very impressed. I really think that kind of stuff is very neat. I doubt I would try it anytime soon, but I think it is cool and lacking in the guitar world. I really think the more subtle carves are nice, like that one you did doesn't draw all focus to itself, but just enough. Anyhow, hope to see more of your stuff in the future, definately inspiring. J Thats a very valid observation I think, why on earth is this the case I wonder, subtle carvings lend themselves perfectly to balance or offset the modern look of the electric guitar and it opens up a whole new design dimension, but above and beyond that, simply looks kickass. Those second round of finish photos (photo finish?) have got me liking the burst finish a bit more BTW.
  16. GDay GDay Noobie Q, how difficult is it to replace a fingerboard, is it a big jobby job?. I like my neck but am wanting to buy a real nice ebony FB, little scalloping and some custom inlay, so if I get that done I would not attempt to replace the FB myself but I have no idea around how much it would cost to get someone to do it for me. The biggest talent that Im geographic to is Mr Ormsby I think. Come to think of it he does supreme inlay work too. Cheers Bobby
  17. They are ok truly?...I looked at this site a couple of weeks ago and thought it felt a bit "scammy", but if its legit techniques and good advice well awesomeness, I could spend some $$ there
  18. I have Zakk Wylde EMG set grounded to the bridge, works goodly
  19. Oh sure, I didn't have my hopes up that much when I bought it --I was only hoping it'd be useable. Turns out it wasn't. Like I said, the real reason I bought it was because I had cold feet about going ahead with the neck build (I'd already screwed up my first attempt at preparing a fretboard). But once I started working with this board, especially having to trim and bevel those razor sharp fret ends, I realized that fretting wasn't going to be so difficult after all. And of course the reason I posted about this here was in case someone else in my situation gets tempted to buy a board from this guy--it's really not worth it at all. And yeah, I've since become more sensitive to issues such as labor exploitation, etc. Anyway, I've since planed off that fretboard (I left a thin strip of it as a reminder) and I've fitted a new fretboard to it. Which might actually end up working out...and at least this one will be all 'mine'. Think thats the key man, I mean 65 odd negatives in the past 12 months alone, you always knew it was going to be a bit of a gamble, but like you say, you didnt want something fit for the Zsar, just something to muck around with.....but came up craps on the roll
  20. Gday I see this around a bit and I am tempted to go with it, is it just some sort of standard perspex perhaps?...has anyone used it as a cover before and had issue?. This stuff
  21. magnets there are a sweet idea for that purpose, how do you take grip on the covers to pull them off?...is there a little lip?
  22. they remind me of those bloody awesome "oil can" guitars" that the street chaps make in africa...I want a castrol one lol...has anyone heard the tone of them things they are fantastic!.
  23. you mean like a volume and kill switch all rolled into one?.....sweet...now just design it so you can bash it like Buckethead
  24. is that you John Wayne?...is this me???
