  1. mine of course! A genuine Dutch chick smoking pot!
  2. oh my God.. I lost my Tele-king title. Geez Doug, I make my next geetar blue. What a wonderful guitar... awesome... freakin' awesome...
  3. Dcamp's got a point though. Sandy1070 sells alot of very nice tops for little money. I wouldn't use spalted maple for a first project though. It's a bitch to work on. The soft spots shrink when you look at it and some of the hard parts wear out your router bits fast....
  4. I'd love to have the Vai "Liberty" backing track.... All I can offer is some backing tracks of my own ****.... but who wants that?> :-)
  5. that piece ain't that nice.. other than that, working with spalted maple isn't that easy....
  6. I've never been much of a LP fan, but your pics make me wanna build one. Very very nice....
  7. well, the pics ain't working. Either you wired it wrong or the pups are dead. My guess is that you made a wiring mistake. Goto the Seymour Duncan web site and download the appropriate schematics for your configuration and start to debug.
  8. I like it, except the position of the control cavity cover. It should be placed more backwards.
  9. As usual, your guitars are really ugly Drak. I would paint that thing black so you won't see that ugly top..... Man, that's one of the most amazing tops I've ever seen.... luv it...
  10. Thanks Derek. I'm building a bass that has no overlappring fretboard (at the neck heel), so I want the radius of the heel to be a perfect fit. I did make something like Hotrod described, but it didn't work too well. Maybe I'll just do it by hand.
  11. Talking about cars and guitars. this looks pretty cool too
  12. hmmmm, I think you might be able to make something out of that body if you give it somewhat of a AANJ heel.....
  13. . Neal, I'm sure that's what Jeff is doing. He took alot of **** before this and I'm sure he does something with the criticism from the experienced builders. russian himself doesn't take criticism very well regarding his own project.
  14. check out the warmoth site... your question is answered in great detail right there
  15. haha.... you know the answer, right? But guess what.. I want to build a bass too and I think it'll be a Stingray, so maybe I'll make a drawing one of these days.
  16. first, what sound are you after? Ebony can be used for a fingerboard, but can be tough to work on. I'd suggest to use rosewood for a fingerboard. You can buy pre-slotted boards from Stew Mac. Wiring a strat or any passive guitar is not hard at all. There's alot of foolproof schematics/diagrams out there. Are you planning on building a strat? I personally prefer hardtails as I never use a tremolo. I suggest to use use a fixed bridge if you're not planning to use a trem.
  17. whatever, but this is not the baseball forum
  18. Welcome, I can tell you're enthousiastic.. I built 4 strats. Before you do anything, what are your plans? Build one from scratch or start out with a neck and/or body you order. I suggest to make a guitar from scratch.. it's so much fun and can really be done with good results. My first built is still my main strat. It's better than all my Fender's
  19. Oh give me a break. I didn't like the tone of that post. Mosts of his last posts have this "know it all" tone anyway. If you can't make a straight neck and a decent rout yourself you should shut up about somebody not making straight routs. It'd pretty much be like me criticizing Clavin's inlays because my inlay work suck ass! Now back to the topic, before I start a real rant
  20. We're defending a long time forum member here. He took alot of **** and rather than being a stuborn ass, he took it as a man and works hard to improve his work. I really don't think he needs that kinda "advice" from a noob who can't do any better himself.
  21. Although I agree with Drak, I must say that Jeff is trying and definately is improving. And you, Truerussian, I don't think your comments are appropriate if you take a close look at your guitar.
  22. yes you can. My spalt strat was done that way
