  1. Hi, I need to glue toghether wood and a screw ring of some metal, wich would be the best glue? I was thinking of CA glue.....? what do you think?
  2. Really nice piece of art ! That walnut is looking sharp is true oil the same as tung oil? is it a good finish product, I mean does it shield the wood from scratches?
  3. Ok let me share my soldering iron stories..... Thumb and index finger severely burnt , did not play for more that a week ! I grabbed it like you grabbed it by the iron part insead of the plastic, just like a chip from a bowl ......WHY ? I was tired again, was not looking at it before picking it up from the table, I was to busy staring at the wireing diagram ! always cover the body of the wood when soldering in the cavity, I burnt a small part on my first guitar, now I use paper to cover it
  4. Meg - my first hand build gtr Summer - my ibanez S did not really find the proper name for the rest of the gang.......
  5. Looking gourgeus ! You did a great job on that piece of art (screaming piece of art...I bet! ). I am almost done my bass guitar, I installed optic fiber wire instead of leads, it's looking good for now... enter GOTM ! go for it
  6. For experience ...... TIRED?! - time to stop for the day, that is when mistakes happen, we need all of our fingers !!! I almost trimmed one off with my router one night ! I was close to touch the spinning bit, just cause I was exausted and my mind was elsewhere. SCARY ! I shut the router off.....had a seat......recovered from a near heart attack, took me 10 minutes to get that ugly sensation away from my legs ! ROUTER ! it's a killer, always keep it still when you complete a channel route: never just lift it out meanwile the bit is still spinning, might chip the sides of the channel, making it messy, same thing happend to me twice douring the body slush trimming, I was on one of the horns, I tipped the router accidently (mostly cause there was not much of surface to slide on, and chipped out huge chunks...... Plan everything douring the building, improvise when you are playing the finished guitar, EYE PROTECTION always ! I use earplugs with almost all powertools, and lungh protection ( I am not so constant in that ). Mistakes are lessons, they will make you better !
  7. Great work going on , hyunsu ! That neck look very nice Keep posting pics
  8. Gourgeus wood ! I like the guitar a lot
  9. OK , I am experimenting with studio pedal board......i got: PA mixer / GTR ----> ROLAND GTR SYNTH \ BOSS OC2 (octaver) in BOSS MT2 (metal zone) in BOSS DD6 (delay) I use the signal of the guitar from the GUITAR OUT of the Roland synth..... I use 1 power adapter to charge all 3 boss pedals ....1.2A is the power of the adapter. PROBLEM.....when I kick in the distortion, I get a bad HUMMMMMMMM thing going on, very loud when I am not playing.... Can it be the power adapter?
  10. lovecraft , I have been on those links, but did not find my case, because I don't have installed a push pull know , it's regular VOL / TONE / 3 way switch. I have the diagram i need on the dimarzio site, but I have a bad resolution of it, and it's a hard time to figure out the soldering comb from there, I bet it's simple but still I messed up twice Scott, I emailed you , thanks
  11. Thanks again for appriciating my work ! Vladdrac I was going to do the round access , but I was lazy to make the template, and did not take chances in free hand routing! For the next guitar defenetly I'll make the template..... Santa Claws the finish is SHELLAC , hand applied with tampon, or in my case gust little rags of an old shirt, I don't have an airgun and compressor, and I kinda like the natural finish, shellac is not toxic, cures really fast, but it needs loads of coats Jivin , the neck is a Ibanez or a hand made neck that my friend bought on ebay, he did not thrust me in building a neck from scratch ! i guess......... I think it's not so cool either, I like the headstock to be same wood as body usually. Rob
  12. Updated pics , I still need to finish the wireing, but having a hard time with the diagram on the dimarzio site.........help needed ! thanks I installed a Bluesbucker (neck) and super distorsion (bridge), 3 way switch....I want to put center split coil...but still trying to find out how. thanks for appriciating
  13. Does anyone have a clear wiring diagram of 2 HUM dimarzio , 3 Way fender style switch(4/4 pole) , coil split (center), I saw the one on the Dimarzio site, but having a hard time it's a small and blurry pic........ thanks
  14. THERE YOU GO , shellac finish. There are about 9 coats! This afternoon I will install hardware and do the soldering, I post pics of the finished guitar
  15. Thanks guys ! Daveq we bought a Ibanez ...I think it's the LO PRO model, it's smaller that the other RG he has, and I had to make a different routed cavity to fit it properly. Will post pics tonight after I finish the shellac therapy
  16. Sounds interesting ! Keep the updates and post pics, we love pics !
  17. Hi, THIS is my second guitar, things are working out quite well untill now, it's for a friend of mine. I slightly modified the body shape, but he will never notice ..... he bought a ibanez neck that will be installed will install, di marzio pups, and ibanez floyd rose trem. I am applying shellac by hand, will post pisc soon..... Walnut is great wood to work with, it's beautifull texture and color, but loads expensive here in Italy.........let me know what you think guys
  18. Great job, it's looking BELLISSIMA ! Did you use the original body shape, do you have a project plan design of it?
  19. Hi, I am currently working on a bass guitar, and I have a fingerboard blank of wenge I want to use. I had the same idea of filling it with clear epoxy resin, sand it and then slot it for fretting. I think that it will work fine. I am working on a unfretted fingerboard, that will make the sanding easy with a radiused block. But you should be able to get a good job even if you have the frets seated already, will take longer , but I think it's worth it, good luck
