if you're gonna get a new neck, new pickups, new bridge and rout out extra space, you'd be better off just buying or making a 7 string after all the hassle you'd have.

I have a complete fernandes sustainer kit for sale £190 or very nearest offer. Its brand new, never removed from its box. I bought it intending to put it in an old guitar but decided against it (as putting it in would mean drilling though steve vais signature on the guitar) and i can't afford another guitar to install it in just yet. Anyone interested. I'm based in nottingham.

the markers were just a standard silver pen, and the black was a permanent marker. The clear coat is just car spray lacquer. I tested it on a piece of wood to make sure the pens didn';t react with the lacquer. But its turning out pretty good

I went to G3 nottingham, and got to meet satriani. Unfortunately vai & Co weren't there, but dave wiener was extremely cool, and took it up to get it signed. On a side note, satch's pick hit my dad on the head. Anyway, i took a guitar body to get signed, and so this is the process of re-finihsing the guitar, and making a kick ass G3 guitar. The day after the G3 concert. 1st coat of lacquer Thsi is the original neck, which has a huge crack in it, as a certain someone tried to throw a guitar round their head vai style. Tis neck will be repaired, and the headstock sanded down and refinished with a groovy logo on it. (Not yet decided.) Bought some gold hardware all lovely and gold, and with a pearl scratchplate it'll look great. about 5 coats of lacquer on this one. Still has the speckly look, but the layers are building up nicely. I'll post more updates as and when they happen.

i just tested a very small section on a part of the guitar that would be covered by the scratchplate. It bled a tiny bit, but you had to go very very close and have good eyesight to see it. The pen is a big chunky black pen, and is waterproof.

On monday i'll be going to meet all the G3 guys. (i won aftershow tickets !!!! ) So i have a guitarbody stripped down to the wood and sanded smooth with about 400 grit paper. I'm gonna get the G3 people to sign it with a permanent marker. 1. Will the marker react to whatever finish i use? 2. What finishes could i do so that i can still see the signatures?

where abouts are you? Also what model are the ibanez pickups? I've always thought ibanez make some great pickups. Quite underrated as far as pups go .

i've got a similar problem with one of mine. I've not done it yet, but i've been told (by the lovely people on these here forums) that i should drill out the existing holes fill it with the same size dowel and glue it in, leave to dry then drill new holes.

well i wanted at least £450 for the head so with todays exchange rates that is... $794.81 I'm not sure if this seems expensive, but you gotta remember equipment is a hell of a lot more expensive in the UK. The ibanez jem go fr around £1799 ($3,174.95) in the US they are $1799. If you wanted to buy then i'd b happy to sell. Up to you.

hmmmm, i think i'd rather sell to the UK. If i were to be getting the cab it'd be for now reason as i already have one. I'll leave it.

i would for $600 + the cab i'd happily accept. But as you said dollars i'm assuming you;re U.S. I'm a lowly UK lad.

no thanks, If i were to trade it'd have to be for something a little higher quality. I'm really after the money for a nice Legacy Amp. I want to stay away from the modern marshalls, they don't have the right sound i'm after.

Hi, well i've had this guitar for ages now (blue tele shape one on the far right about 6 years) its a home made job, and i'll be changing the bridge to a non trem bridge, and i really wanna make it look different, although i don't want to strip the paint off, thats a bit too drastic, but what can i do to change the look of it? I was thinking about just a scratch plate material and shape change. So lets hear your suggestions. cheers tom

its the DSL 100W The cab is brand new in Jan, the head was bought of my mate who had it from new. All new valves in January. There is a tiny tiny tear in the cloth from when my steve vai picture fell down (The only time i've said bad things about Mr Vai hehe). Great condition, just not for me. I really wanted £800, but i guess i could go as low as something like £725 maybe even £700 depending on the sale and other stuff. Half stack for £725 now that ain't bad. as for the Ax1000G well mine is a AX1500G, i've got nothing but praise for it. Its been a very very good pedal. When you push it through a tube amp you get some really really brilliant sounds. Had mine for about 3 years now, and never once broken down or anything. I've been playing for about 5 or 6 years now and i still love it. The only bad thing is the delay between patches. But i can live with that. (until i do my summer shopping )
