    I had huge problems with this guitar... After sealing whole guitar i've found some problems with binding so i decided to sand the sealer, route new binding channel and seal again and more... So now i've sealed the guitar again and added the color (in reality it's lighter and you can see the texture very good)

    Rough neck profile: The wood that i've cut with bandsaw under the freatboard surface is long and thick enough to use it for 2 guitar freatboards, which i'll do in next projects.

    It can be quite difficult to dye maple blue as the natural tone of the wood can give it a greenish hue. I've used Rustins wood bleach on a couple of jobs now Wood Bleach It was always a headaсhe for me, when i have the wood with red tone and need to give bright finish to it. It's really nice solution, thanks.

    I've never faced with bleaching before... mlennon, what do you use to bleach the wood, if it's not a secret?

    Forgot to mention, the one thing i found wrong is that the strings are too high above the freatboard and T-O-M don't have any room to be lower... (hope i am mistaking). http://www.devansdesign.com/files/semiholl...mihollowTop.jpg

    Thx guys for your comments. WezV Agree with you that's why i am using nice wood here. But the more i build guitars the more i like the natural look of the wood. ae3 It's going to be forest , not forest GT.

    Yes. And also i like padauk+wenge tone - the padauk billet was like a bell so the glued blank has very interesting tone. And i hope that i can leave the back of the neck transparent - will talk about it with the customer after sealing the guitar, hope he'd like the look of his guitar...

    Along with bass build i have another neckthrough project - ESP Forest Style guitar. The worst in this build is the finish - the guitar will be black (the customer wants it only black...) but the wood is so nice... So, it's gonna be 7 string guitar with 12-72 strings. Specs: 7 string 25.5" scale 24 frets 48mm nut width Tune-o-matic w/ String-Thru-Body black hardware Neck: wenge/padauk/wenge/padauk/wenge 5 piece neck madagascar ebony freatboard 2-way truss rod + 2 carbon rods stainless steel fretwire Body: Makore body Harware, electronics: Tone Pros TOM bridge Hipshot grip-lock tuners 2x EMG 707 pickups Here is the wood.... The freatboard is in the center:

    The neck blank: And rough cut right wing : Neck blank and wings together: Then i leveled the neck blank and routed the wings with template (it's not a fingerboard there, just scrap wood): I'm going to give the shape to headstock next week (it'll be Tobias style) but before i've tapered the fingerboard and cutted fret slots :

    I'd like to show my favourite project - it's a neckthrough bass with Yamaha RBX body style and with Tobias Classic neck style. Also i've decieded to use standard 19mm bridge spacing here and wider fingerboard. Specs: 5 string 34" scale 24 frets 48mm nut width 19 mm bridge string spacing golden hardware Neck: maple/bubinga/maple/bubinga/maple/bubinga/maple 7 piece neck Curly Madagascar Ebony fingerboard 2-way truss rod + 2 carbon rods "gold" LMII fretwire Body: 40 mm thick zebrawood/wenge/sapele/wenge/zebrawood wings Hardware, electronics: Hipshot A style bridge Hipshot tuners 2x Nordstrand dual coils pickups custom built preamp with 3 band EQ and middle frequency switch.     The board won't slide if you'll use small nails before clamping - two on 3rd fret and two on 12 (or any other). After clamping you can easily put them away. Sometimes it's not possible - for example if you use big plate to clamp the board. In this case u can use toothpicks insead so the won't jut out from the fret slot. So, i slot, taper, clamp and then making radius.

    I can say that it's one of the prettiest wood choices for the whole guitar i've every seen.

    Very nice wood. The deep black freatboard (for ex. madagascar ebony) will match the guitar nice too.

    Hello. I'm building the guitar where i gonna use Kahler 2300 series tremolo. (image) But i'll get it only in July and need couple of dimensions now: 1. Minimal saddle height 2. Saddle height adjustment range I appreciate if somebody can measure . Thanks
