  1. Thats just a really long set neck (I think some people call it a set through?) its not a new thing. Personally no experience though.
  2. Both guitars are looking amazing. The scarf joint is off the hook, but if I could change one thing, the neck lams would continue past the second contrasting scarf lam through the entire headstock instead of stopping, looks a little odd imo.
  3. Looks great, all the better that its a 7 string!
  4. I prefer the look of ferrules, I'de probably shape the heel even more to a more Ibanez AANJ style shape.
  5. Do you mean to radius the board? 80 is a good start for bulk wood removal.
  6. Sperzel will make you a custom set if you ask them.
  7. Is there no time to paint it before giving it to the winner? The contrast on the front is really off putting with the bridge placement. Everything else is your usual awesome quality though, nicely done
  8. Looks good, you say white areas, but I dont see any...
  9. I dont like how far down the neck the scarf is, other than that its a awesome looking guitar!
  10. How come? According to this thread, rods are stiffer than tubes... http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...c=42614&hl=
  11. Cheers for the link, they dont seem to do the rods though, only tubes.
  12. Hey guys, Been looking in to alternatives to importing Stew Macs CF bars, the only thing I can find in this country is rods though, but there doesnt seem to be a set price, or much description of quality or branding, how much difference will there be in quality between these different sellers? £6.50 per meter £6.50 per meter £5.66 per meter (the only people to mention a brand name) £6.95 per meter (non of the above include shipping) Then the much cheaper china stuff of ebay... About £5 per meter even after shipping There are plenty more but you get the idea I'm thinking the best one to go with is online kites and their 'exel' carbon fibre as thats the only one with a brand name, and so hopefully the best quality CF rods (exel seems to be a market leader in composites, turning over like 100 million a year). Or should I just order from SM?
  13. I asked a while ago, no one seemed to say no dont do it it will explode, but there dont seem to be many accounts of good ash necks either. http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...c=38690&hl= I plan on doing one myself this summer, but with many laminates and CF rods just to be sure.
  14. Cant you just convert it to a trem?
  15. How high quality are we talking here? Better than Stew Macs? Better than Jescar?
  16. Is that a veneer or a thick top? I wouldnt touch it if its a veneer.
  17. You probably can’t claim to be an expert after 100 I've always thought I wouldn’t sell the first 10, and I'm glad this is the general consensus in here as well. After 10 I will not be actively selling guitars rather allowing myself to take commissions from friends and family as an intro to building for someone else, these will be done for little more than the cost of parts. After that I will take commissions for complete strangers and I expect to make profit on them.
  18. If you angled the the body then the back 'wall' of the neck pocket would be cut with an angle in it as well.
  19. Just something waterbased over a waterbased stain, You might stain something then glue it for a pin stripe affect...
  20. Will this stain go under clear coats like nitro and poly? Its oil based, cleans up with white spirit. http://www.axminster.co.uk/src/froogle/pro...d-Dye-23110.htm Am I right in thinking that a water based stain might run if you then applied titebond to it, or if you then sprayed a water based top coat over it? Cheers!
  21. One of the dumbest things I have ever read... I also loled at the disclaimers, 'person that will smash the guitar will need to wear eye protection gear, gloves and a helmet for their own safety', yeah thats really rock n roll... lol The worst thing is the price, 5000 Japanese yen = 36.3 British pounds Its cheap enough that people might actually buy this complete waste of the worlds resources!
