  1. i'm pretty sure the nevborn guitars were just for until they could get the ibanez ones made.
  2. i realize that's just a sketch and not an acutal plan, but make sure when you do make the plan that the string paths on the headstock are clear. as it is the D and G strings would be cutting it close. i like the design, especially how the headstock mirrors the lower half of the body.
  3. you guys know he was being sarcastic when he suggested a bad black dye job and writing/symbols on the guitar right? i agree with mike that you should just have something that fits with the body. i also like the idea of making the headstock look kinda like the bottom horn.
  4. yah i know that's the bad part. i wish i was better at making up headstock designs.
  5. i like that one better. i'd still somehow break up those straight lines that you've got. to me just adding something to the top looks forced.
  6. wes - i think he means he's using the neck with a different body. so he'd just wouldn't route an angled pocket in the new body.
  7. i think that'd be a good start, but the lines on the impaler aren't that clean. to me the impaler looks like an explorer that's been in a battle. that headstock needs to be roughed up a little bit.
  8. oh it can be played with mortal hands. just not mine. have you heard frenzy by racer x?
  9. i'm not really liking that design. the axe head looks like something just randomly thrown on, not like it's meant to be part of the headstock. i'm not getting an axe vibe from this guitar anyways. this one looks like more of a crude (meant in the best way possible ) weapon, and smooth flowing lines like those of an axe or sword don't really fit well IMO.
  10. no problem. can't wait to see this done. and yah kit rae does make some wickid knives. check out gil hibben's knives if you want some more inspiration.
  11. how are you thinking of cutting it? cutting it off as in cutting parallel to the nut? i wouldn't trust doing it like that. the way i'd do it would be to just take off enough wood on one side (which side depends on if the headstock will be regular or reverse) to square it up, and then glue on to that. if you do it that way there's no reason i could see that it wouldn't work.
  12. where have i been while this was being made?!?! that top is absolutely gorgeous. i can't wait to see it completed.
  13. i'd just like to reiterate that a low F# string of at LEAST 70 is gonna be necissary. i use a 70 for tuning to C and i get about the tension i like.
  14. i'm all for leaving those holes as they are. it gives it a natural feel that just works with how the wood looks. at least in my opinion.
  15. note: everything in my post is speculation. i don't know the answer, i'm basically thinking aloud. (or in text) i don't think a white STAIN is possible. in pigments white is the absence of all color. so you can't really add a color to something and hope to get white out of it. seems like you're looking for something more along the lines of bleaching the wood. i have absolutely no experience with wood bleaching so i don't know how well this would work for what you want. by the way a completely white guitar with an ebony fretboard looks amazing. especially if the hardware is white powder coated.
  16. i wouldn't think that a neck being too slick would be a problem earlier. as wes said any time i slide too far (or something like that) it's just my playing. maybe try an oil finish for the next one?
  17. i can't decide whether i like the top or the back better. super classy. btw, the quote button is at the bottom of each post, not the top.
  18. that completely ruined it. you can't have a flawed guitar like that in your collection. better send it to me. /lies it still looks good to me.
  19. sneaky sneaky. on a more on-topic note: the impaler is looking fricking sweet. i love explorers, so this guitar is just amazing.
  20. i think anyone here would be happy to take it off your hands. myself included. i think that's my favorite of all your designs.
  21. i'd go with a hipshot hardtail. i love that bridge.
  22. outfeed table would've been my guess.
  23. i think you should've done a black headstock to keep with the traditional gibson look. the rosewood just doesn't look right to me. (but it's not my guitar, so as long as you think it looks good that's all that matters) the rest of the guitar though... wow. that is beautiful. i agree with xlr8.
  24. i like the back half of the guitar. the front just doesn't do it for me though. i'd rather see something with horns rather than just a straight across front.
