  1. well.i love the rollers and i do not like graphite in these applications.so i would hate to see that.keep the rollers clean and you will be fine. yes the clips are 60...but when the wrap is made at the ball end of the string,it thickens it,surely you know what i mean? mick, this is the perfect place for this.i am sure he wants to increase sales, but i think there is nothing wrong with that because he is also here to answer questions
  2. i thought i bought too much expensive stuff...sounds like perry has me way beat
  3. this is the unit i speak of.it is strung in the pic with 9s...then i tried to move up to 10s and that is where the problem began. once again...i bought a chrome one at the same time and i just swapped them.the chrome one is superior by far. i am a big supporter of your trem,i just need some assurances, because my next project will be an assload of these guitars like this one,and i want a 7 and 8 stringer as well, and i have worries
  4. also.i think you guys should send complete installation and routing instructions, with accurate measurements for optimum performance.height of saddle above body when strung would be great, because it is very easy to overlook on the first install,as i myself and another guy on here did,and we had to make some pretty fancy adjustments to compensate. glad to have you here though.i think there are alot of grey areas that should be addressed, and i have more as well. such as the thumbwheels.they are hard to adjust on the 7300...the threads seem a little rough. i also have a chrome 7300 and it is head and shoulders above the black one in quality...any insight into why that may be?
  5. i posted in the other topic as well.but to expound.i have found i cannot fit anything larger than a 42 string in my low e saddle, and that is a bit of a bother. i bought a black kahler 7300,and it is badly machined in the trem arm socket,as well as not being completely flat on the bottom, and the low e clip broke when trying to install a set of "regulars" on the trem.do you have any plans on changing the ball clips from cast potmetal(or whatever it is cast from) into something a bit stronger? why are the intonation screws round headed?i replaced mine with flat topped screws of the same size, and the strings clear much better, and allow the strings to set in the saddle much more positively.i can even link you to some http://www.fastener-express.com/index.asp?...amp;ProdID=2431 they are ss,but surely ya'll could find the black ones?and ss would match the chrome better...and i even bought some brass ones from ace hardware that would match the gold unit
  6. can you tell me why the ball end clips are too small for anything larger than42s?and can you tell me that the 7 and 8 string versions have large enough clips for the required strings? i am not being hostile...i recently bought three of these systems and these things concern me.i do not wish to have to go back to the floyd system.i just think there are a few things you guys should work on. you can p.m. me and i will be glad to tell you my opinion, which is 99% good, but there are some things you guys really need to clear up.and i think that doing so can only help your business
  7. guitarpartsdepot is inexpensive and reliable. i don't know about the other except that i emailed them once and they never responded even though they claimed they would within 24 hours
  8. actually,it translates to "there is too much to explain,so buy the book that explains it all" the flexner book is hundreds of pages, all packed with info about almost every finish or finishing problem you may encounter. "trade secret"?not hardly...if you want to know the facts, you have to read the book.otherwise you are just working off of random hearsay
  9. it MUST be at least 70 degrees farenheit to spray, and it needs to stay above 70 until full cure as well(24 hours) so a heated spray area is needed if the weather doesn't cooperate
  10. why would it tip forward?the bottom of the vee hits your leg... do you guys even play standing up ever?i don't even sit down to record, and i probably have had more vees and explorers than most people here
  11. setch,you old dog...28 already? i wish i was still 28
  12. i spryed this one inside.i set up a closet at one end of the house like a spray booth, and i kept the heater running at about 80 degrees while i slept at the other end of the house with the windows open.not the safest or best plan, but it worked for this one. i won't be spraying in the house again though,i will be setting up a spray shed
  13. by mistake? look,i rig beams quite a bit at work to fly them level up to the building,so i am quite familiar with balance of two point rigging, and BOTH positions are important for balance. why do they place it so far back?probably because alot of people are too fat to fit in the smaller loop of the strap when it is so close.i am quite thin,so i put it where it balances best.all of my vees i move the button closer in on.
  14. you have to put the button on a vee at the heel, and the other one as close to the center of the v cut as possible
  15. yes.but you don't have to.it can be a sealer as well as a finish
  16. you can balance them in a number of ways.i use lighter tuning machines, thinner headstocks, thinner necks, denser bodies...stuff like that
  17. "water white" just means clear...like godin said. i sprayed it over natural wood.
  18. yeah i still have the v...i will be reworking it soon maybe. the f copy i still have not finished.there is not much left t do on it,but i need to get a shop going first.i am tired of messing up my house. i am not dissapointed in the exploder...i'm very happy with it.i just want the guitars i build to be perfect, and they are not yet
  19. well i have plans to build a whole buttload of these things...with different woods and inlays and stuff
  20. pantera had everything miked and was able ti control the volume of the entire mix.i am talking about a small situation...say an unmiked drum set... but whatever works for you.if you take a tube amp and set it up wrong(turn the prescence or mids down too much)it will still get lost.
  21. i left the chrome one on for now.as soon as possible i want o put on a 2300 in black.
  22. yes...but it is polite to post a warning of the size you can see before clicking.i for one cannot d/l a pic larger than about 1000 either direction in any sort of reasonable time. thumbnails?i have seen it before, but we have no clear rules about that.i know thumbnails load very quickly on my computer...so if iu had to guess,i would say it is probably okay(waffling enough for you?hehe) i myself have never found the need to disagree with a few thumbnails...though i think more than a few may be a different story. i think he means nato(although the picture looks more like bubinga)...bc rich uses it alot recently.nice sounding resonant wood...very "husky" in tone
