  1. cuz im the same crappy age as you and I can't go to one uintil i find a ride which aint happening too soon. Bassman, why would you say definitely get two if 1 suits my purposes? oh i just had an awesome idea but it probably is bogus. if i put 2 power amps in a series, would it multiply wattage by wattage? eg. 20 watt in series with a 20 watt=400 watts? would i have to calculate a complicated impedence for that kind of thing?or would it just be twice as loud (and gorecki this is all assuming the amp actually is as loud as it's wattage claims).
  2. also I have another question, what is the difference between RMS and peak. You bring in a good point about most places having their own PA, but since a lot of my gigs are self-setup they are in someone's house or backyard or similar places. This means that they probably don't have a PA of their own. I was planning on bridging the Power amp to be 450 watts mono, would that be loud enough? Do you have any suggestions of an arrangement of peices of equipment that would suit my budget speakers, amp, mixer and all?
  3. I just wanted to open a discussion on PA's and also I had a few questions of my own. Since my band is starting to get serious we will probably need a real PA instead of a guitar amp for the microphones, we also need a mixer to mix in the drums' mics. What we had wanted to do was but a power amp, a mixer, and one or two speaker cabinets. Would this power amp be sufficient for small-medium sized gigging? My band right now has about 365 to spend. If I got that then this mixer and this speaker cabinet, would it work alright for small clubs and auditorium performances with vocals, backup vocals, drums, and possibly keyboarding going through it?
  4. you might have the neck wire from the switch/neck pickup wired to the wrong side of the pot, or some other error with the tone pot wiring.
  5. hey guys, I just sent the money for a body blank tonight. I should get it in a week or so. I'm getting anxious.
  6. i think the lower pointo n the V should come down a bit more to be more equal and balanced, that or skinny up the top one. If deadliness could kill we would all be dead. Oh wait deadliness can kill. **dies**
  7. I think the inlays on the second one would look better if they were wider. I love your photoshop work though man. I used to do a lot of stuff on photoshop but I haven't had enough motivation to pick it back up. Good job.
  8. i love how the damaged tele is at 47 and the ok one is at 17. lol. If I had any dough I'd be sure to buy any of this stuff.
  9. BTW the magentic switch is called a reed switch. It's used a lot in alarms and store doors. they put the magnet on the door and hook the switch up so when the door opens and the magent is away, it completes the circuit and makes a sound
  10. you can change it to true bypass, I don't really know much about true bypass and I need to look at it because from what I hear its better for when the effect is off.
  11. heres a pic of what i was talking about for those people who are normal and dont understand me when I try to explain things I dont know if the colors would be that saturated though. EDIT BTW, I have no idea about trem anatomy, so I have no clue if it owrks like that or not, all i know is you push the bar down and it pulls the bridge up, loosening the tension, making the pitch lower. And I also know theres some springs in there so it stays down when not pushing.
  12. Your on the right track, but I mean one that fades from one color to another. BUt I think I might have come up with something. If you have 2 pots in the trem cavity. One on each side. Then 2 pulleys (one in each bottom rear corner). And a string tied to each side of the tremolo and wrapped around the pulley to the pot. Then the string is wrapped around the shaft of the pot. But heres the catch, one string is wrapped one way, and the oneo n the other pot is wrapped hte other way. So when the trem is making the pitch lower, one pot is turned up, and the other is turned down. And The first lug would be the power supply, the second lug would be the led, and the 3rd lug would be ground. Then the LEDs would both be behind a semi-transparent inlay, thus giving a tie-dye in progress effect when the tremolo is in action. Of course you would attach a spring to the front side of the trem cavity connected to a string that wraps around the pot in the opposite direction as the first string so it will go back to where it was in the first place when the trem is let down. I might draw up a diagram later. Damn! Now all I need is a guitar with a tremolo.
  13. I just mocked that up using kisekae virtual guitar builder and flipped the body in photoshop so I wouldn't be suprised if it's distorted. And yes I'm using RR plans and flipping them and like I said that lower point is much shorter and thicker.
  14. Did you just ask how am I going to transport it to the gig? Dude, its the EXACT shape of a left handed reversed headstock RR3, if nothing else I can just get a RR case and put it upside down in it. It's not rocket science. And its going to get banged up? Whats the difference between a long lower horn and a long higher horn? I mean it might fall off the strap but how often does that happen if you're smart about it? It's not like I'm going to just throw around the guitar I just spent 500 dollars on. It's not that big of a deal. Oh, AND that lower horn looks much longer than it is. I think the kisekae RR is distorted because it looks much longer and thinner on my template. I got my template from the CAD file at guitarbuild.com
  15. http://www.moosapotamus.com/othercoolstuff.htm heres a good site, even some exerpts from that rare book paul was tlaking about.
  16. what a crappy thing to say. Its not your job to tell me that its a disgrace. It's your option to tell me where to fix small errors or mistakes in my craftsmanship or what I could do to make it look better. But definitely do NOT tell me a gutiar that I'm building is a disgrace. Didn't Jimi Hendrix buy a righty to play lefty? Noone said "HEY FENDER DESIGNED IT TO PLAY RIGHTY, WHAT A DISGRACE!" Circumstances are different I know, but seriously man, that was a pretty crappy thing to say.

  18. this is going to be a really slow project I only have one peice of wood and I need 3 to even start it the neck. I'm working on getting some purple heart actually.
  19. well I dunno if I'm gonna have a 3 way yet. **giggle** he said 3 way **giggle** if I don't end up having one then I'll use one pickup. oh and I forgot to mention one more hting, the bridge will be a black TOM wraparound stop bar instead of a black TOM.
  20. omg I wish I had seen that sooner lol.. jsut kidding that sucks are you gonan work anyhting out with the guy or are you gonna give it to him?
  21. like System of a down, nirvana, seether, stuff like that. Anything will work.
  22. ok, you would only need sealer on the bacck if its a porous wood, maple isnt porous so you wont need it on the top. if the back is mahogany you'll need primer on the back only. If you don't feel like only priming the back, you could stain the top, use sealer on top of the stain andd the back, do the black burst.
  23. do you think you oculd make one of those for really cheap and then sell it for 1500 USD or is it a name brand thing?
