  1. Well, here there's a pro-luthier that could (hopefully) fix the problem if it's so bad.
  2. I read somewhere that it should be placed at a distance 1/2 inch shorter than the scale lenght.
  3. Yesterday I fretted my neckthrough guitar... but, as a result of fretting, the neck bowed backward. I put on the bridge (original floyd rose) and the strings, and fretting from the first till the sixth-seventh fret produces only a bad slap sound, no note... Hope I don't have to trash my guitar... Maybe I should put the strings on again and let it sit for some weeks?
  4. Mmmm being italian myself maybe I can say something on eko... All Eko's guitars I saw were made of plywood. Actually, a friend told me that in the seventyes they made better guitars... I don't know if there are any high-end Ekos...
  5. I think that paying $3700 for a KE2 (it's not custom made, but it's still made in U.S.A.) is wasting your money. You can have one for less than 1500$. Talking of low end guitars, I'm a kid without $$$ so I bought a Yamaha Pacifica 112 for $200. It's made in Taiwan. Now we are together since 4 years. The only thing that I don't like are the single coils. And the tremolo is "rusted in peace". But as long as the humbucker rocks and she plays, and as long as I'm not going to play as a pro, she works just fine for me. If in the future I'm going to play as a pro, I would consider to buy a high end guitar, so even if I had money now, I'll just save them for other things.
  6. I like your V more than this... But this has a nice quilted maple top...
  7. I love Vs, and yours has a nice headstock... Keep rockin'!
  8. How should be the recessed route for a Floyd Rose deep?
  9. The tuners that I have fit (tried it on a scrap piece of wood), but I don't know if the headstock could break... it's five-piece laminated quartersawn maple.
  10. Is it possible to have a 11mm thick headstock (nearly 14/32 in)? Can it hold the strings without break (if it's quartersawn maple)? I've seen 13mm (nearly 1/2 in), so will that 2 mm less make any difference?
  11. Is there any rule to follow when placing pick-ups? I.E. Distance from the bridge, distance from the neck... I read somewhere that pick-ups are usually placed where the strongest harmonic lay...
  12. (Homer Simpson's voice) Mmmm... Jack Daniels That would be a pretty finish for my next guitar (now I have to finish my first neck-through)
  13. I made a neck-through neck with three quartersawn maple laminates. And I added 2 other for the headstock. But the join looks good and I think it's harder to break than the wood itself.
  14. I voted Other. I'd go for a Jackson Kelly, possibly from the custom shop (yeah...).
  15. I have a Marshall MG100DFX and it sounds really good.
  16. I can't take pictures, but for all the folks with Melvyn Hiscock's book it's similar to the one showed at page 61, and at page 59 in the lower picture is the topmost.
  17. Just routed the truss rod channel for a double acting/expanding truss rod, but I still can't figure how to hold it in place... The rod fits the channel, it can act but it can't move, even if the channel wasn't routed precisely (but that wasn't my fault ), it extends into the headstock (maybe too much ), but I have the feeling that I forgot something... since it slides back and forth in the channel... Or that problem will automatically be solved when I'll glue the fretboard on? *why I didn't just buy a new guitar?*
  18. You're not annoying, this forum is made for questions and answers I don't know exactly what kind of wood beech is... but if it's strong and dense it could be good for the neck. Maybe someone can give you a better answer...
  19. A: I'd take the Jem in a heartbeat (just IMO) B: I don't think Marty had a whole lot of say in that album, knowing Dave. If you see the booklet, it's the only Megadeth's album where he's the co-writer of all songs. And even according to Dave. Hey, btw, did you hear Friedman's Music for Speeding?
  20. How do they make it? It's simply astonishing! The best finish (that not involves drawing) I've ever seen!
  21. To be honest... I don't like swirled guitar too much... But I loved swirl in these 4 guitars: Maelstrom's RG LGM's U.S.A. JEM Cerealk's JEM and another Jem I saw on this forum (I can't remember who was holding her), that had green pick-ups, and green swirl over black.
