  1. I cleaned up the "Kelly Klone" today with a little elbow grease, It's now looking a bit better. In The previous photo, the wood creeped on me while clamped and didn't dry level. Well, It's better now. Still have lotsa work sanding ahead for me to even out the lower edge and all the outside edges. I don't think I'm gonna start another thread for this since, I'm not very happy with it at the moment. I'll keep you posted, If interested.
  2. Is there a chance that the Newbie Is called "Saga Guitars"? and looking for price and ease of assembly? Me thinks the Newbie should use another User Name.
  3. If you already have the pickups, go with it but If you wanna get some hot pickups in that bad boy drop some Dual Coil Blades in it and it'll scream. Here's what I got for the neck of my Jag Type and they're good pickups. MF Seymour Scorchers
  4. In My Opinion, as long as you use the basswood as the wings and not the central body core, that would sound great. You wanna keep the strong wood on the center for strength.
  5. That is really rough looking, eh? It creeped up on me while glueing and I haven't done any surface sanding yet to true it up. That's my favorite shape of the Expolrer style too. Maybe the Ibanez Destroyer with it's subtle details.
  6. Instead of starting a new thread I figured I would post this in an older one and update it when I got a new project started. Eventually I'm going to start a new one unless I quit building guitars. Well, That'll never happen, Unless I "Wake Up Dead". Here's a pic of yet another body I'm starting, that will probably never get finished but I rekon I'd post it none the less. You can probably tell it's a kelly only a little bit larger in the horn and tail. No Other plans than the shape. Hardware and paint haven't been considered yet.
  7. Those are fine lookin bridges but....Their for the wider bridge posts like on the LP JR. Similar to the Badass tails for Just 2 posts in the guitar. But you probably already knew that.
  8. I believe it's any way you want it but keep in mind that if you have to adjust the truss rod nut, and it's mounted at the neck heel, you have to remove the neck screws if it's a bolt on, or if it's neck thru cut an access hole in the body. The most popular place is at the headstock though since you can get to the truss rod nut without removing the neck.
  9. Sorry for cutting you off there. I tried to order those ferrules and they don't release them until December 24th from what Guitar Jones Said in response to my order. I guess I'll have to wait.
  10. Warmoth Carry them as well but they haven't posted them on their website yet Thanx for letting us know! I love these thing also and much cheaper than the Warmoth ones.
  11. What I would do, Is make yourself a Badge for that size with your name or guitar model name, and glue that in there.
  12. I've played some LTD's That were very good if you might be interested in those. If you need a Genuine Gibson SG, It'll take some looking.
  13. At Warmoth they have a nice selection of painted and bodies that you may like. Check the spotlight section and tell it what you're looking for. IF the neck is a standard made neck, strat style, 25 1/2" scale length it should fit fine in the bodies they offer.
  14. Woodsman1031, Your topic will get more bites in the General chat forum than in the "In Progress" section. You may be In Progress with you guitar but that section is devoted to questions like this or Even the Finishing section since it is grain filler and that involes finishing.
  15. Well, It would seem that my Version of Mozilla Firefox doesn't load the design correctly. Internet Exploder worked a charm.
  16. I went on to design my new kelly and after cliking the kelly link it brought me the King V. Have any of you tried it yet?
  17. Just a small tip if you do this kind of body again, Drill a hole with one of those long drill bits from the neck pocket thru the neck pickup route all the way down to the bridge pickup route. It'll look really clean and you never see it either, unless you remove the neck.
  18. There are scads and scads o Pics on his website. ctbasses.com I believe, and check the bridge on the $10M dollar Bass.
  19. PSW, Just Print up Spike's PDF Iceman and lay the paper on the guitar blank. You may be overcomplicating things trying different programs. You can also do the same with the strat plan he has and lay it down on the wood backward.
  20. I haven't bought one of their kits before but Carvin Necks are fantastic Quality and keep in mind that IF you bought the saga kit you would have to finish it as well. Finishing isn't that hard if you go by directions from the forum. A Wipe on Poly for the body and Tru-Oil for the neck and put it together.
  21. Well, After Much Looking, I found this. A Price of a fixed Floyd Speedloader. String Masters Website I think I'll stick with the Regular Fixed Bridge Meself.
  22. You can Chime Back in any ol' Time "Bicycle". We need to know what's under that Pickguard. NOW, It's like that Mystery Movie and WE can't remove it for you. UNLESS, You ask Very Nicely. "I'M So Scared"
  23. That enormous wood pickguard is Hiding Something. I Just Know It. It screams out for dis-assembly and a thorough inspection. Butt-Head> Yeah, Fire Is Cool.
  24. Well, I stand corrected, Never saw those yet.
