  1. its not hard to do actually prolly one of the easier paint jobs cause everyone is different and random with the striping. All u do is lay down ur base coat, then black, then tape off the stripes, then white, then put more stripes over the other ones, then say red. Then clear and thats it.
  2. there are ways to get just a chrome top. There is a mirror plastic out there and u can add a vaneer of that to the front of your project. I did this on my bad horsie jem that im currently building.
  3. wow those things are freaking beautiful
  4. if i understood u right u can get a ibanez 7 string trem. here I think he ships worldwide, just might cost u a little bit more.
  5. i didnt do one, havent quite figured that part out yet. plus i dont ever really use them, or like them for that much. I think it gonna be pretty cumfy the way it is However i did talk to the plastic shop a whiile back and they said they would put the curve in the plastic if i wanted it
  6. Today i glued the mirror top on the guitar as seen in the picture below. I used some heavy pots to set on top not clamps cause i didnt want to squeez the epoxy out, i wanted as much to stay as possible. I know it looks scratched as hell, dont worry that is just a protective layer of plastic, it peels off. Either tomarrow or sunday i will route the binding channel, and get that out of the way.
  7. well he is in italy, dont know if those are over there...
  8. well if u wanted this guitar swirled i wouldnt settle for another paint job. For the rest of your life u will hate that u setteled for something u didnt want. I did this with my first guitar. I wanted a blue and yellow zakk wylde bullseye job, but ended up settling for just blue. I love the guitar but still look at it as what it should have been. Like RGGR said just be creative. Do u have a credit card? If so you could order the stuff online some where, shipping might be a little much, but in the end u would get what u wanted, and in my eyes that would be worth the extra cost.
  9. why dont u bring the tub inside and do it there so its not so cold?
  10. there really is no catch, i have bought a lot of stuff from that guy. Its just not the top of the line parts at all, but good for a first build.
  11. Has anyone here picked up the new G3 dvd with satch, vai, and perttuici? If so anyone have any idea what billy's chorme bass(thats he uses on the first song called the audence is listening) uses for inlay... ??? its got me stumped
  12. man im in cali.... if he takes visits it might be worth the drive to me to drive up there stay in a motel if i could get a few pointers....
  13. i would also want you metalllica books along with your oasis, maybe a couple more im still looking.
  14. im gonna save u the troble of being yelled at by some mods. Use the search button and type led, there is a tutorial around here on how to do it. There are quite a few people around here that has done this, including myself. Just search and read...
  15. my dad bought this little bandsaw made by craftsman, the thing kicks butt he payed 110 for it a believe. Its all steal, not plastic like ryobi. He uses it to cut metal cause he works with metal, sometimes i steal it and use it to cut what i need for my guitars lol. but if u looking for a little one and not a lot to spend i recoomend it.
  16. well i was gonna lay the towels over the whole board, then put clamps along the edges but kinda towords the center too, idk its hard to expain, i will prolly try on some scrap, i will let you know.
  17. well i got the board off yet again, in the process broke off the leads of two leds, so i switched them out, tomarrow im gonig to work on getting those flush and sanding the glue off the neck and fretboard, and get them ready to glue again, either toamrrow or wednesday not sure. I looked at some old pics of my first guitar being built and we used a different method. im going to try that this time and we will see how it goes. Also has anyone every used like old towels to glue with? I was thinkin if i piled up like 4 old towels if i could use that as a clamping block? It woud be soft and think so the fretboard wouldnt get damages, least i dont think it would, i dont nkow i might test this and see, it would give me more options in clamping.
  18. I have big c's little c's and a couple of quick grips. I think my problem is that when we put the blocks and clamps on there we arent putting them close enough to the outter edges of the fretboard, just in the center. So when we tighten them is pushing down the center all the way down the fretboard and the edgs are left up maybe ? Im about to take it back of and try again.
  19. Hey man i got the same amp. The last gig i played was for a school guitar class. We had a smaller stage, and it fit about 200 people in it. Some kid in class had a dad who supposedly knew a whole bunch of crap about setting up amps at the right angle came in to "help us set up". They worked and moved our stuff around while we did warm ups. In all honestly i didnt think it was that good, it sounded better then where it was but i didnt feel it all that much, maybe cause he was messing with my settings on my amp too telling my i didnt have enough mid, i gave him the finger and said its the sound i wanted lol. Anyway, my spider 2x12 was proped up with a chair on each side. All the amps were angled so the sound came together in the middle and blended into one. If you are worried about the open back, then i hear people stick a couple pillows in there to stop the sound from escaping, i havent personally tried this but who know. What i would do is take ur band and one of your other friends who knows music a little bit. Go the the gig spot, set up have him move around to different spots and tell you where it sounds good and where it doesnt, then move your gear around accordingly, also try with and without the pillows to see if u like it of not. also u guys doing cover songs or original? Anyway, gl with it let us know how it goes.
  20. Well this is a good way to start the day... I just looked at my fretboard and the freaking thing is worse then the first time i glued it.... I dont understand why it wont glue flat... Maybe its the blocks im using to clamp... IDK, so now i get to remove the freaking board yet again and try it ONE MORE TIME. They say third time is a charm right. I just dont get it, when i glued my first guitars board down it was perfectly fine.... Well here goes nothing.
  21. HAHA i totally for got about that kevan im sorry man. I am definately am going to be picking up one of those for all my floyd guitars tho.
  22. well just reglued the maple neck, everything looked okay this time, but looks can be misleading. I will look tomarrow, if there are still gaps then i will first cry, then fill the gaps with glue and see if i can pull them together if i cant then im going to putty them and just paint the neck, i kinda prefer a painted neck in some aspects and with this guitar i think it will acent it very nicely. I was also think may painting the sides of the neck black and leaving the back maple would look weird but i think it would be kinda cool also, has anyone seen anything like this?
  23. no a shim is tiny. Like my esp kirk hammet uses two really small pieces of duck tape as shim. Well if u dont want to use a shim you could recess your TOM into the top of the guitar. To learn a little more about that read this thread that was started a little while ago about neck angles.
  24. u will have to use a neck shim under the neck. Les pauls have a neck angle routed into the neck pocket, but seeing how yours is already done all u can do is stick a shim under the heel of the neck. About the brand of stain i dont really know, im doing my first stain right now lol, im giong to mix my own for my own color. For a nice piece of quilt, this is where ebay is your friend lol, here is a link to one of the most popular wood suppliers that all the guys including myself buy from.
