    I'm about to install the frets on my fretboard. I intend to tun-oil the neck. Should the fretboard be masked when I do that? Should I apply some other kind of finish to it? Thanks. Dave

    I love that guitar! I'm actually pissed because one of the original designs I've played with, well, I guess isn't so original anymore. It looked alot like that! It's still sweet. Dave

    Harry, my first guitar is in progress and I used a Hot Rod truss rod from stew-mac. It doesn't required a curved route. Just a standard route 7/32" wide and 7/16" deep.

    Scroll saw!?!? How do you do that? Is it possible on your tele's because of the fact that they're chambered and at some point in the construction, you have no top on it? I'm just trying to picture how you get the saw blade inside the body like that. Thanks for the info! Dave

    Matt, you seem to have a ton of ambition. If you don't mind me saying so, I'd like to see you concentrate on one project at a time. You've shown us some bodies and drawings but I can't recall ever seeing one get finished. If you were to focus on one guitar, plan it out completely, get all the wood, parts, etc. and then build it, I think you'd learn so much more about this hobby. I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I'm only trying to help. And by all means, I'm only here to learn as well, so if you have any advice for me, I'd love to hear it.     Sanded down the side markers tonight. Now it looks like a real neck.

    Carvin Petrucci! That's exactly what's influenced it so far. While I'm happy with the way it looks, I now wish I had used the body I designed. It's nothing earth shaking, just a double cut, but it's mine. I guess this one is original in that I've combined elements of two different guitars. Ah, whatever. I'm not sure about the finish. It's almost December and it isn't getting any warmer here in NY. So, I guess shooting a finish might be a bad idea for the next few months. I work in my garage and it isn't heated except for a small electric unit I use. With the neck and body together like that, it looks like a tung oil finish would look nice over the whole thing. But I would need to know how to accent the flame in such a finish. Can I use a grain filler with a tung oil finish?

    Hey Jeremy, I really love the Leviathan. I think it's entirely original which is super hard to do this late in the game. The guitar I'm working on now is my first but I aspire to get to your level some day. People like you are an inspiration to people like me and I thought this would be a good time to tell you that.     I did some work today. I opted out of the Wilkinson roller nut due to the string guage limitation. Wish I had known that before I bought it. So, I cut a nut slot, thinned the headstock and glued the fretboard to the neck. My headstock is real small but will fit a 3+3 arrangment of locking Sperzels.     xebryus, that's the bridge I have. bluespresence, I've got that thanks. But it doens't really tell me what the saddle height will be or allow me to easily make a template for routing. Thanks though!

    xebry, don't get me wrong: I'm for anything anyone builds from there own ambition. I just prefer the more traditional guitars. Maybe because I think it's much harder to do something new that's still mainstream. It's hard to design a double cut that doesn't look like a strat or PRS and it's hard to do a single cut that doesn't look like a LP or tele. I'm constantly trying to design a body that could fit next to all those but still be identified immediately in that group. If I could do that... Dave

    I'm having trouble finding information on this site or any other regarding the route template for a Wilkinson trem. Can anyone help? I'm getting close to the point in my project where I'll be doing my routing and I'd like to buy or make a template. Thanks. Dave

    I don't ususally go for these bodies but this one's pretty cool. How did you do the contours along the edge? Did you build that neck?
