  1. i don't care if i have to route the whole body hollow it's so damn ugly to begin with. i was thinking of an auto wah, distortion and clean boost circuits, so they would eat the batteries very quickly.
  2. hi! i have an old aria bass which i've modified a little (made it fretless etc..) and now i'd like to build internal effects for it.. the problem is that i don't know how i should power them. i don't wanna use a battery because i know they'd be dead in no time. how about making a box that'd connect the adapter to a stereo plug?.. i could use it for both power and sound. all ideas are welcome.. even the insane ones.
  3. you replied so fast i didn't have the time to edit my post
  4. hi paul. i've always used clear poly urethane for finishing necks. it dries fast and is hard enough to stand years of playing without wearing off.. nitro cellulose lacquer can be used too, but it's softer and needs more time to cure. i'm sure there's many other alternatives too, but i'd definately go for poly if i were you oh.. and mask the frets i usually spray the clear over the frets if i need to level them later.
  5. aren't danelectros made of masonite with solid wood blocks in the middle?
  6. scalloping won't help in this case. it only helps you to grip the strings harder when you're bending. have you thought of becoming a bass player?
  7. i've seen some very good landola acoustics with flamed birch sides and backs
  8. actually i can get it for 530€.. i was asking so i would know if it's possible to sell it with some profit. the new ibanez 6 string prestige bass costs about 1900€ here in finland.
  9. gee thanks for all the info. i gotta buy it fast before someone else does.
  10. hey! i might get an ibanez prestige 6 string bass and what i've understood it's a very high quality instrument. what do you guys think would be a reasonable price to pay for it? it's 4 years old, but in mint condition. just like the one in the photo. the only difference is the logo on the headstock which i believe is abalone in the one i might get. what about those bartolini custom pickups.. are they expensive?
  11. i didn't see any 8, 9 or 10 stringers at warrior's website. IMO conklins look disgusting.. i like the body shape of some warrior basses though. like Isabella for example.
  12. you don't even need to know how to weld.. my truss rods are basically 5mm steel rods with threads in one end and the other end is hammered in the shape of a hook which is epoxied in place in the neck.. the hook keeps the rod from turning in the slot when the bolt is tightened. very simple but effective.
  13. i got this crazy idea of making a bass guitar with 8 separate strings (not 4x2 strings). does anyone know where i could get some info and pictures of that kind of instruments? would i need 2 truss rods for a neck that's twice as wide as the regular 4 string neck or should i use one truss rod with some reinforcement? i also need to desing a special bridge for it and make it myself. dunno where i could find an affordable 8 string pickup though:P
  14. i've always hated all those pointy heavy metal guitars.. ...nah.. who am i kidding.. your guitars are fantastic! keep up the good work!
  15. i never saw him again it was a strat body and he cut out all the wood that would hold the neck.
  16. i've seen a guy trace the outline of the body from a template and then cut out the neck pocket with a bandsaw once.. now that's a mistake he never started another guitar or tried to fix it.
  17. did you drill proper sized holes for the screws?
  18. it gets easier with every new guitar you make. i've made many and still make stupid mistakes sometimes.. the difference is, now i know how to make them less visible
  19. yeah.. it's the newspaper under the guitar
  20. hehee.. siisti keppi nerokas tuo ledi idea
  21. please try the pine guitar with strings. i'm really interested what it would sound like. pine is even cheaper here because all the forests are full of it.
  22. well.. my name is backwards here i don't post much on the stompbox forum anymore.
  23. hi paul.. nice to see another diystompbox forum member here. you probably don't know who i am but i don't care.
  24. oh EX170!! i got one when i was a kid! it was just like the one in the link. even the same color.
  25. yeah.. drak is definately one of the most inspiring people here. i haven't seen much of his work, but all the ones i have seen have been fantastic
