  1. The higher frets (23-27ish) aren't for playing, they're for adding the taps to "sweep-taps". That's why I love lots of frets, plus I like the brighter sound of the neck pickup. If you want 24 with the sound of 22, use a single-coil sized humbucker in the neck.
  2. That finish looks pretty good, what is it? Good work on the tremolo
  3. That's a cool shape, hope all goes well for you.
  4. Well, they offer two levels of round-over, normal, or crazy extreme round-over. If you e-mail them, they'll probably tell you. I've gotten a lot of help from medium to large guitar companies in the past. They're usually happy to tell you, unless you ask them how to build an exact replica
  5. Actually, the first guitar is quite ingenious with it's wedge shape. I haven't heard of that before.
  6. Professional brick lol, set up an internet store with them. I've seen stupider products being flogged online. That's a pretty nifty rossette routing jig, was it from Stew Mac as well?
  7. It's a horrible feeling, knowing that something might just be too small. Is the neck to small for the neck pocket? If so, you could add a veneer to the inside of the pocket, it might work.
  8. Very VERY strange..... Strange like... from another planet strange. They have a cool vibe though, even though some of your construction methods are questionable eg. Multi FX tuner for fret locations
  9. Stereordinary, that white guitar is awesome! It's so soft and flowing... If you know what I mean. I hereby change my vote!
  10. Kahler's need special strings to counter-act that. D'addario make them, I think they're just reinforced at the weak point.
  11. I think we've touched upon an interesting topic, just how much of everything (amps, pedals, woods, hardware etc.) make up "tone". I have no idea how to start making a list of percentages and what not.
  12. Pickups and hardware can change the over all tone more than the woods (depending how much output the pickups provide). But no matter how it sounds, those are some attractive woods, some of my favourites.
  13. Vol. Knob, I like the marble wood fretboard you used, and both tele's look suberb! Drak, I've heard you are the king of finishing, and I'm now seeing why. The flame on the first tele seems to be radiating from a central point. And as Todd asked, what's the top on the last one?! This should be called the Ultimate Tele thread.
  14. 1 piece guitars are very wasteful, not exactly "environmentally friendly". Also, because you can only have one wood, certain frequencies will dominate the tone, which is undesirable for most. That being said, Reantal, that picture you posted is awesome, I'm pretty sure the top neck has ghost piezo bridge saddles. It's very Japanese ESP-ish.
  15. I like the shape, and the work is nice and clean. How much do you reckon it weighs?
  16. Thank you for helping the plywood crusade! Looks really nice. Good to know that the floor is oak
  17. Avenger, I'm digging your "Mr Happy face" and your blood wood. I agree with you MiKro, I think it's best not to show your wood, you would have to ban yourself
  18. Is Mike the guy you sent your LP Junior to?
  19. Those are some intense knobs! Must've taken you ages to fit the limba and etch the sides for each one. Knobs are usually an after thought for me, but you've made me re-think the way I look at them.
  20. That body wants to be staind white so badly.... Transparent white on ash is very tasty you know
  21. Well, it's a bit more complicated than that I'm afraid. Powder Coating requires specially charged powder, extremely high temperature kiln, acid baths, sand blasters etc. You'd have to find a powder coater near you and see if they can do it. It might be cheaper to buy a whole new bridge though.
