  1. I would think you'd want something with more mass than Titanium to get good sustain. GBT
  2. Congratulations on making the one guitar I'd be willing to travel thousands of miles and across multiple continents to steal! Seriously, that is one beautiful guitar, and it has everything I like: figured wood, a reverse headstock, recessed Floyd, no tone knob, a humbucker in the bridge, a single coil in the neck, and DANGERMOUSE!#@T$ Should you ever decided to sell that beauty, keep me in mind. I'm completely serious. GBT
  3. Depends on the rating, I guess, but you just need positive and negative voltage, so a double AA or 9v should work, right? GBT
  4. John, that's not a bad idea. I'll have to try that.
  5. All gone. Mods, please lock/delete.
  6. I honestly hadn't thought of that, since most manufacturers aren't interested in giving that sort of stuff out. I guess it couldn't hurt. Thanks. GBT
  7. So, I picked one of Rage 158s up really cheap off ebay. I had one of the mid-90's Rages and loved it until I lost it to the pawn shop in college. The problem is, it doesn't work on the guitar input, but the CD Input works fine. I've been looking for a transtube model schematic, but I haven't come across one yet that didn't cost me more than the amp itself. Any tips or hints on what could be the problem? I'm hoping to get it fixed so I can give it to my little brother who wants to start playing. GBT
  8. Exactly.. I sometimes just use the edge of my pocket knife and scrap a spot off to solder to. That's when I'm in a lazy mood and the sandpaper is at another table.. haha
  9. OK, time to thin out some stuff to make root for nice shiny new stuff! Behringer V-Amp Pro. $100. I got it as part of a package deal, but I've only used it once. Unit has Bass and Guitar amp modeling. It still has the plastic on the front viewscreen, and other than the marks on the rack ears where the screw went in from the front that show that it was mounted, I'd swear it was new. No rack rash on sides, top or bottom. Ibanez S470 in Jewel Blue. Made in Korea back in the late 1990s, but a really awesome player. No dings, dents or rust. Just some minor play wear and finish wear, but great shape for a 10 year old guitar that still rocks. $250 Ibanez S-Classic 220 in Black Pearl - made in Japan in 2001, the same year my son was born and I was laid off from Enron (a whole 3 days later), so I took to calling it "Joey." Perfect condition. Has a Seymour Duncan Super Distortion in the bridge position and stock Ibanez V6 pickup in Neck. I was thinking of putting a set of 80's EMG 58s that I have lying around in it (P-90 tone) to stick with the classic vibe it's got, but I've lined up a great deal on a RGA-121, so I don't have any use for this. That, and the neck on the classic is narrower than the Wizard necks with a more fat/narrow profile, so my sausage fingers have problems with it. More stuff later... GBT
  10. Welcome to the board dotorx, and thanks for the link. GBT
  11. Yeah, I guess I could just use some aligator clips to wire up the pots and test them out before deciding which one I like. GBT
  12. I might do that speaker wiring modification if the volume pot thing doesn't work out. Speaking of which, what pot rating do you think would be best? I've got 25k, 250k, 500k, and 1Meg pots lying around. I guess I could just play around with it, but I'm thinking a 500k or 1Meg pot would be appropriate. GBT
  13. OK, I picked up a Peavey 5150 212 combo a little over a week ago, and I love it. The only problem is it is way too loud for home use. I've seen volume boxes for sale on ebay for ~$20 that fit in the effects loop, and my suspicion is that it's nothing more than an audio pot and two 1/4" jacks in a project box. Does anyone know anything about these boxes? Are they just an audio taper pot and two jacks in a project box? Does anyone know of an existing schematic if they are more than that? The seller's website is here. Edited to add that I know this isn't a power soak, which sits between the power amp and the speaker. GBT
  14. Yep, hot wire from the P90 will go to the other lug of the 3-way and the other wire is naturally ground. Pretty simple, as you've already done the hard part. GBT
  15. 1: is everything grounded, including the bridge? 2: What pickups are you using and did you follow the right color codes for that manufacturer? 3: Can you post a link to the diagram you're using? Is it this one? 4: Can you post pics of your wiring? GBT
  16. Godin, that guitar is simply beautiful. It's not in a body style I like or would want, but I just can't help but marvel at how gorgeous it looks. Wow! GBT
  17. If you flipped either the stylus or the router over you could make male and female parts, but you'd need a very fine bit and stylus to get tight fitting pieces. A 1/2" bull nose bit and stylus would leave a gap. GBT Edited to add that you'd need another table, inverted, up top for that setup to work, and it would need to be perfectly parallel to the under table.
  18. Very nice! I like the use of the half blind dovetails over the usual finger joints. Did you choose to go with solid wood for a reason over plywood? Do you have pics of the 210 cab? GBT
