  1. LK, want gmail? It has up to a 10 MB attachment limit, and I've got 6 invites for whoever wants em.
  2. That would also esplain why it would be easier to bend with the lesser angle, because coming off the bridge it has to go farther(usually) in order to have a lesser angle.
  3. There's no real set template, the sizes would change for pretty much every diffrent inlay.
  4. I'm sorry disregard that info then. I read a post about this a few weeks ago, and I was pretty sure that it had to do with the string angle coming off of the bridge and how it made the strings easier or harder to bend. It was this guy who said that his Les Paul felt like it was too hard to bend the strings on. Edit: Here's the thread
  5. This was done yesterday. Check the posts on this page.
  6. The scale-length of the guitars can sometimes make a guitar's strings feel more "slinky" or easy to bend, a 25.5"(your ibanez?) scale length would have a higher string tension and string bending would be harder, but on a 24.75"(LP) scale length strings should be easier to bend. String angle coming off of the bridge can also effect the string tension. I believe the greater the angle the more tension, and the less the angle the less the tension.
  7. I'm not sure, but I believe that alder is supposed to be a hard wood to get any kind of paint to dry into. So you might be in for a little trouble.
  8. I know how very little about scematics and the names and stuff like that. But I know how to solder using "diagrams". I don't take your post as insulting LK, but I was just wndering if there was a simple way to wire up an LED to a regular double pole, double throw switch. I thank you for your help. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to that Millenium board.
  9. The reason for this is that that pickup is VERY "hot" and it will kind of naturally produce a lot of hiss or fuzz, and the ground wire from the pickups is soldered to the volume pot and the bridge pole, which when touched, will take away the buzz because the ground current travels through your body and into the ground. That's a basic nuderstanding of what happens, I'm sure someone could go into a long detailed explanation, but I can't.
  10. Thaks a lot for your help LK. No can you explain to me what a 2N3904 transistor is?
  11. What your describing is deffinitely a dirty pot. Like they said, best bet is to replace it, it's only about 10 bucks MAX!
  12. This should be in the inlays and finishing section.
  13. No monkey69962000, I am planning on putting an LED indicator light on my wah pedal to tell me when the wah is engaged. Thanks a lot LK, the only thing that I got from those articles, was that I CAN'T put an LED indicator in with only a DPDT switch. Am I right?
  14. Rhoads, I'm very sorry if I've upset you with posting this again. I did a search and came back with practically nothing, as I've stated in the first post. I have read westheman's tutorial on his neck-thru with quilt maple FB, and I still don't get the whole neck angle. I forgot to mention I am buying a premade neck, so I don't have as much leeway to work with I don't think. I am still completely new to neck-thru guitars. If you could get me a link to your pictorial that would be nice. I don't think I saw that when I did the search. The one thing that I think wouldbe a great idea, and would possibly get so many people from posting this same topic, would be for someone to do a completely in depth pictorial or tutorial. I've only been a member for less than a month, and I've seen numerous of this same topic, and I don't think one person came out with a good solid answer.
  15. That's where I came into the question with the top being higher than the fretboard. You'd have to glue the back wings on at a lower place.
  16. This is the first time I've read this section, I wonder the same thing Mainen69.
  17. I need something a little more detailed than that. Not to sound rude, but that diagram practically doesn't explain anything to me.
  18. I personally wouldn't pay that much for those pieces of wood. Are they supposed to be bookmatched?
  19. If you put silver flakes in a spray gun or a spray can than unless the nozzle was round enough to let them out, than it would pretty much just clog it up, or if it was round enough it would probably run out like lightly running water. Unless you can get tiny flakes small enough to fit out of a spray gun/can nozzle.
  20. The pieces aren't matched to eachother very well at all.
  21. I'm very sorry, I know this topic has been done to death and back, but I'm still extremely confused with how you would go about getting a 3-4 degree neck angle in a neck-thru guitar with a TOM bridge. I'm building a Les Paul style guitar with the neck-thru, of course. I don't want to recess the bridge, and I don't understand this thing about glueing the wings onto the body section of the neck wood. How would you calculate the exact place where you would have to glue the wings? I am putting a quilted maple top on and I'm thinking if you glued the wings too close to the fretboard near the top of the body, and then glued the top on, it could possibly be higher than the fretboard itself. I really think someone needs to do a tutorial with the detailed step-by-step process as to go about building this. I've searched the forum and read almost every post about neck angles, and everytime someone just says, "..recess the bridge.." or, ".. glue the wings on at the correct angle..". None of the posts have clearly explained how to do it. If someone could draw a diagram explaining this, or even better, do a tutorial, or point me to a good tutorial with explanations of EVERY-SINGLE-STEP of the process, I would be -extremely!- happy. Thanks so much, Steve
  22. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but somewhere I read that if power wires come near wires carrying audio signals there can be a lot of feedback/fuzz/noise/whatever you'd like to call it. Now this may be only for AC or only DC, I'm not completely sure, just thought I'd offer my advice to help with some of the problems.
  23. Why don't you try it on a scrap piece first and see how it turns out. Trial and error is the best way to find out what works and what doesn't. But don't do it to the actual veneer until you know that it'll work.
  24. I was wondering if there was any way I can wire an LED into my wah pedal, with the DPDT switch used for true bypass in my VOX wah pedal. Or do I have to buy the 3PDT switch and use that?
