  1. Hi, I have two P-90 pickup's. There single coil. So there probably not as 'silent' as a humbucker. Is it possible to take another pickup for instance a stratocaster pickup and put it somewhere in a cavity (out of sight)and just use it as a 'Dummy'? In other words just use the strat pickup as the second coil of a humbucker? So I would have a P-90 with a strat pickup together as one humbucker. Why should I do this? Well the answer is simple. I have two P-90 pickup's which I got for free, and some member's convinced me of the quality of the P-90 but I don't like the sound of a single coil so I thought if a can use another single coil just to create a humbucking device it could turn out nicely. Any idea's Greetings Gerard
  2. Hi, I should think just ordinary wood glue. Don't know which country you're from but I keep hearing the name 'Titebond' There is a tutorial in the tutorial section. Projectguitar Just click the link hope this helps Gerard
  3. Yes, thanx. That's excactly what I ment. Now I know I have the right stuff Gerard
  4. Thanx guy's 2-part epoxy: is that 2 components glue? Greetings Gerard
  5. Enter it !! With a big picture of the inlayed girl (maybe I'm a pervert but I'm not dangerous) But serieus: Love the guitar bro! Gerard
  6. Wow, wooden pickup covers. What an idea Greetings Gerard
  7. Hi Guy's I bought myself two nice pieces of 'Zebrawood' (It's called Zebrano but I think in English it's called Zebrawood) It's highly figured hardwood, with color's varying from a kind of maple to the black of stained mahogany. Anyway I'm quite happy with it. This wood has little pore's and some little 'cracks' (I hope this is good English) I want to use the wood for my neck thru explorer. The neck is one piece maple and the sides have to be made of the Zebrawood. I want to use a transparent finish (polyurethane) BUT what do I do with the pores? Just put enough paint over it so I can sand it flat? I've heard of 'Grain Filler' What is it? Is this similar to the white filler to even the surface for a paint job? My English is not that good so I hope you guy's can understand what I mean Who can help me? Greetings Gerard
  8. Thanx a lot guy's Maybe I put one p-90 in the neck position and put a humbucker in the bridge position. Anyway, lot's of thanx Gerard
  9. Hi You won't believe this but I got a pair of Gibson P-90 pickup's for FREE! The pickup covers are a little faded to a kind of "nicotine yellow" but that doesn't bother me I want to make them in the explorer I'm building right now. BUT I have no idea how they sound like. Is it a mix between a humbucker and a single coil? Gerard
  10. Thanx, I'm doing it almost now. I'm just hammering the frets in
  11. Maybe something like this: Build your guitar Gerard
  12. Let me start by saying: I love the guitar of the month competition! I really do. But what I don't like is the fact that guitar's that don't make it to GOTM are getting lost in a 'black hole' For instance: I loved Westheman's V. It didn't make GOTM but I really liked that guitar. This idea came to me while browsing through te Gallery Section. Why not add a 'topic' that's called: Guitar's build by members So every member can display his guitar. I mean a kind of layout like a forum topic. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AVATAR MEMBER 'GUITAR PHOTO (FRONT)' DESCRIPTION (homepage or e-mail adres) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (VERY SHORT DESCRIPTION OF BUILDING EXAMPLE: CUSTOM PAINT JOB OR BUILD FROM SCRATCH OR NECK BOUGHT, BODY MADE FROM SCRATCH) When a member builds more than one guitar; let's say three, he has three photo's in the gallery section of three different guitar's. I have no idea how hard it is to make a section like this or how hard it is to maintain it properly, like I said it's just an idea. It's not ment as a form of critisism. (I say this because my english is not that good and I don't want to be misunderstood). Greetings Gerard
  13. Thanx guy's for all the input. I think I'm going to route and fill it with a kind of epoxy.(I think) I saw it in another thread. Cause this is my first try I don't wanna ruin a nice piece of maple Thanx again Gerard
  14. Inlay on a guitar was never my first priority but when I see the guitars posted here I just wanna have a go at it. After much thinking I came up with a couple of questions. 1 What is the right order for an inlay in a one piece maple neck? Routing Inlay Fretting Painting 2 Can anyone PM or post a drawing of a Ibanez vine inlay? I believe it was here on Project Guitar but I can't find it anymore Thanx in advance Gerard
  15. Maestro: I think you're idea is great. It took a little time reading before I could understand it but the idea is fine. Unfortunally it won't work for me cause I wanna build a one piece neck thru. So there's no fingerboard, just like a stratocaster with a maple neck. Any idea's on this one?? Gerard
  16. This I like (I know I'm a dirty 'old' man)
  17. Wow, Jeremy you're absolutely right. The strings don't touch the fretboard!! I never would have imagined that. Thanx man, you've got me thinking! Gerard
  18. Here's my next question. Has anyone ever used an ordinary glass inlay or a mirror inlay? I'm mostly worried by extension/expansion (correct english?) due to temperature changes.
  19. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes I like it. I'm a huge explorer junkie. Listen to Scott He's absolutely right! Greetz Gerard
  20. Thanx guys. I never thought about inlaying before but the inlays I've seen lately have made to change my mind. Now I'm seriously thinking about giving it a try myself. Gerard
  21. I must start out with saying that I'm sooooo jealous of you guy's, specially Saber and Clavin, that you can make such beautifull inlay's. Now my question. When you make an inlay on a fretboard how do make sure that the strings don't wreck your inlay. When your inlay is acrylic is the string must scratch on it. I don't know how mother of pearl will react on scratches. How will ordinary glass react? Gerard
