  1. ok so i wasen't exactly clear, was I? The edit is to switch a tuner side, wich is real easy. This is done with the screw in the key the problem i'm having is the thumbwheel thingie unscrewing out completely, wich i believe i have read about, so i think i'm not alone having that... BTW, my tuners are locking trim lok. (4x2 )
  2. the flathead screw in the middle of the button is the one (and only) screw Anyone got the problem of the nut getting completely unscrewed? Please help
  3. Hey everyone, figured i'd post this here... So, How would one get a high gloss solid color (in my case, black) without any equipement or stuff? I'm looking for what brands of what product to use, preferably stuff you could get at home depot or something. Thanks everyone (btw, this should stop some redundant threads if we can get a nice list!)
  4. ok so i figured i'd glue the thing with epoxy, but for the 2nd problem... Is the screw supposed to be able to come out completely? because only 1 does and i wonder if there's a way to fix this... BTW, staggered sets are 3 sizes. you have 2 small, 2 medium and 2 long shafts EDIT: OK so i now have a 4x2 set of sperzel tuners! I decided to go ahaid with the experiment (after reading they where easy to take apart ) and it really is easy. you have to unscrew the flathead screw, take stuff apart... then youre left with the mecanism; the hard part. Principle here is simple... It SHOULD just come out (and make the shaft spin) by just pusing on it, no? Well no... You have to twist it a little, then push... repeat until its out , and the do the same to get it back in (on the other side, lol....) Just take it all back together and then, another little job... Calibrating the little screw so it's as hard (or easy) to turn the tuner. That's what the screw is for, anyways . Hope i helped someone =D
  5. Schaller piezo tom , wich actually costs not a whole lot more than a regular schaller tom...
  6. Well, staggered sets are in 3 sizes... so you could easily make one with this technique... i just have to muster the courage to do it :S But, after a good inspection, i realised i have some problems. Well, 2... 1st, not so hard to fix, is a locking button that got unglued from the little shaft... What kind of glue could stick metal to metal (i THINK its metal lol...) 2nd ain't so good... It's the little shaft in there that can be unscrewd COMPLETELY out of there. I have no idea how to get it to stop b4 being completely out, but it does not seem like it would affect anything... But i'd prefer to have a set that's perfectly correct... So that means: always check out things correctly b4 you pay for a "good deal"... Thought none of it is really all that bad, I kinda learnt a lesson there any help would be appreciated though (the 1st one i guess it's pretty simple, for the 2nd i hope someone can help) THANKS!!!
  7. Ok so now i believe that can be done by removing the peg with the little screw in it and flipping it... I wonder if there's anyone brave enough to try it? I'm pretty sure it should be easy. BTW, i scored a set of reverse headstock sperzels locally... 48$!!! (60CDN) and they are BRAND NEW too! I'm real happy about that lol... thats the price i was thinking i'd pay for non locking ones
  8. mate, your pics link don't work. It links to your login
  9. i could do some photoshop work... should be fairly simple! hit me with a PM if or something
  10. they still make the old original ones! I really like this one...
  11. i'd go with some wax over tung-oil. That leaves you with a very great and smooth satin finish that's fairely resistant. Only problem is it needs re-waxing once in a while.
  12. The gotoh is a bridge. The Schaller is a talipiece, with wich you still need a bridge (tom)... So i'd go for a gotoh bridge/tailpiece
  13. just a small question... (figured i'd better post that here than make a new thread) I heard that sperzels could be reversed (yes, also on ed roman) to perhaps make a 4x2 set, or have a set for reverse headstocks How can that be done? thanks
  14. hmm, this is a good question... i think the only difference is a dogear has the screws on the size and a normal one has them in the middle of the pickup?
  15. hah, its the first time being a quebec resident would ever get me an advantage but i don't have the money at all : /
  16. only problem is that this defeats the whole point to making an ebow, if i was gonna have a wire, i'd make someting like PSW's sustainer. Now, i don't think the shape is actually all that important. As long as i have a way to align it and that it can be held in hands, it should be just great. thanks for the radio shack links!
  17. yeah, the only thing that keeps me from doing it is probably winding the pickup (driver aint so bad...) 1k turns for the pickup and 200 for the driver if i remember well? From that DIYstompboxes forums? and anyways, that little ebow the guy made would be probably usable!it could easyly be made smaller too (look at the size of his pole-pieces).
  18. alright, ima try to get African since no one seems to see much difference in sound... I'll probably be able to get a better price too... (anyways, 60$ CDN wasen't so bad!)
  19. Seeing how almost no guitarists will EVER try some "new" stuff, i don't think they'll make lots of money. As someone pointed out, even parker are often overlooked only because of their looks, one of the best design out there, IMO. I tilt my hat at these guys for making something new and still be pretty well reviewed, but i think they will make their money in the Bass line, not the guitars.
  20. anyone knows where there would be maybe like... Used Barts or cheaper or something... as i said B4, 200$x2 for a set really is not my ideal price. at this moment, i'm getting jazz/custom 5 SDs
  21. What types of mahogany are viable (sp?) to use in a guitar? i can get some KINDA cheap at my local lumber yard, asked about hondurian... (their pieces are WAY to thick... hate this, i pay for 3" of thickness) I think african would be cheaper, no? Any other types are good (for neckthrough wings)? thanks
  22. well, while we are still in weird designs, i present you the ovation breadwinner as far as i've seen, everyone thinks it's very confortable and great to play
  23. Hey everyone. I was looking around the sustainer thread and stuff, and i kinda taught it would be nice to make myself an ebow, not wanting to pay 100 and something dollars for it. So, has anyone built/tryed to build one? (talking to you, PSW ) i understand that i'd need a pickup, an amp and a driver in the same little thingie, right? Anyways, has anyone got a schematic? Or something? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
  24. hmm... i think one way or another, you NEED a different colour bevel, with matching leds!!! like... blue bevel with blue LEDs or green or something. would totally look killer
  25. hmm... how would one make sure that the ground wire ALWAYS touches the bridge? Also, how different would that be for a tom? thanks
