  1. http://www.gsrguitars.co.uk/decalkits.htm There you go.
  2. Tremolo of fixed bridge i think is the first question!
  3. there's a caparsion guitar (i think thats how the name is spelt :S) that has a push-push pot to change to the neck pickup, looks like it would work quite well. and that way it'd only need a smack on the top of the pot to change pickups rather than fiddling with push-pull pots. They sell them in quite a few places and aren't any more expensive than push-pull pots
  4. Why not have a volume pot for each pickup? or, have a blend pot that lets you mix or select either? then you dont need a switch Oh yeah, u dont need switches if you want more than one humbucker, but each must have some way of altering its volume if you want to switch between them. My advice is to look for a gibson explorer wiring, and solder the inputs and outputs that would go to the switch together and voila!
  5. I got a super OD a while ago, and sold it almost a week after on ebay for more than i paid for it To be honest, IMO, they aren't upto anything much. They just sound very very dry and suck out any kind of tone you have (this was going into a marshall dsl). If you're after a solo boost, (which is what i wanted it for), then go for an MXR micro-amp. Just so much simpler and doesn't weather your sound as much. Better still, make one. the circuit is dead simple and would cost nowhere near as much as buying one!
  6. Does anyone know where i can get a danelectro toggle switch (the On-off-on type) in gold? or a chrome one with removable knob will do? Been looking everywhere with no avail! Thanks!
  7. Well i'm kind of after a mix of PRS and a normal basswood guitar (think ibanez JPM) tone. Hard to explain! might go and try a anderson basswood/maple thing somewhere. If anyone has any sound clips of such a guitar, thye would be greatly recieved! Does anyone know anywhere that will sell 1 1/2" thick basswood body blanks in britain? Craft supplies have lime ones (apparently, but never have any in stock), but they are 2" thick and i dont have the facilities to thickness them reliably! Thanks!
  8. Friend has a warpig in a fat strat. It is one thing, and that is MEAN. Its great!! Oh yeah, and call me patriotic, but, They have to be good. they're british. I've put these on here before. but they are also make nice pickups: http://www.wizardpickupsltd.com/ (scottish!) http://www.shedpickups.co.uk/index.asp (welsh!!)
  9. I like that too But, i like my top cutaway attaching further up the neck! So i think i'll leave it as it is. might kind of curl the top horn into the fretboard at the end a bit though. might look a bit nicer. Oh yeah. Maple on basswood? or maple on mahogany? That, is the question. Any thoughts?
  10. Get a cheap mex telecaster, black. and go at it with some 'Ageing' equipment (ie thump the hell out of it), then Stickers! (maybe stick a SD lil '59 or like in the bridge).
  11. Hi, sorry i haven't been able to post the updated design. This is the new one, i've prototyped a neck joint for it with some nasty cheap pine, and it is rather strong. basically, its like a glued in AANJ, but the tenon goes into the body past the lower horn attachment by about 5". here's the design, i'll post the pics of the neck joint soon.
  12. The craft supplies ones are 8" long and exactly the same as the stew mac ones actually, if you phone up craft supplies and ask, they have quite alot of stuff you wouldn't expect. But if you're after a few things, its probably cheaper to goto stew mac and pay the postage (things tend to be the same price in pounds from craft supplies as they are in dollars from stew mac). Incidentally. ordered on monday night from stew mac, got it this morning. now, that is fast!
  13. Looks good dude, but why dont you move the tuners inwards a little bit? they look a bit close to the edge. That way you could have straight string pull too. But the shape is cool. got any pics of the body you're doing?
  14. Yeah that's what i thought you meant. I'll post the design as soon as i get home. Havent got any way of transfering it onto the net at the moment (its on another PC). Thanks again for your help guys. oh yeah. I've pulled the horn forward like you have in your picture maiden, but not quite as far. Then pulled the inside edge of the cutaway back. it actually curves back beyond the level of the 24th fret and looks amazin Nice high fret access me thinks
  15. For those in britain, www.auto-paint.co.uk do spray cans mixed to order, and the bloke there is very helpful. Not a bad price either. Don't think he ships internationally thou (Fed-Ex and UPS being gay about flammables )
  16. Im not quite understanding what you're both meaning. Do you mean pull the cutaway closer to the body and make the lower horn a bit longer? I was thinking it looked a bit... 'weedy', but didn't know how far i could go without it looking even sillier! Thanks for the comments. I'll have a bit of a redesign and post that up when its done
  17. Hey. This was the result of a doodle on a piece of paper in one of my recent *boring* lectures. I'm currently making a EBMM petrucci replica (not cous im a plagarist, but i cant afford that amount of money.), but decided to plan my summer project. I'm planning on making two of these as stage guitars. My favourite guitars are a PRS Custom 24 (friend's dad's ), and the EBMM petrucci. So, i decided to combine them! I'm not sure who's the PRS plan on here belongs to, but i used it as a kind of starting point. Hope the owner doesn't mind :s Anyway. let me know what you think. Oh yeah, not planning on keeping the birds on the fretboard. just the only pic of a 25" scale fretboard i could find (too lazy to make my own )
  18. Thanks. They just looked interesting. Won't be bothering with one then!
  19. Hey. I'm a student at the mo (ie i'm skint). I've been dying my tops with a rag and spraying with spray lacquer. I just noticed on ebay some electric spray guns. I've always wanted a proper spray setup but i cant afford one! Has anyone got or used an electric spray gun? and if so what do they think of them? i know they're not gonna be as good as a proper sprayer, but hey! Any insights anyone has would be greatfuly recieved! Just for reference here's some links to what i mean: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...5963943801&rd=1
  20. To be fair, for what? a quarter of the price (most boss pedals are over £60 here, and the behringer ones RRP is £15 or there abouts), most people aren't going to care if it only has 1.3 seconds of delay (who except from the edge uses that much anyway?!) or if its not as adjustable. If they sound half decent, I'm having a pedal board full of the damn things.
  21. If you look at the hollowbody I model, you'll see it has a mahogany back and sides. These are all made from the same piece of wood, the bits under the F-holes are just routed out. I think ed Roman's website had something on this (slagging off PRS again as i remember). Its a quick easy way round building a hollowbody, and you shouldnt need any kind of bracing. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bodies,_necks,...es.html#details That's a tele thinline made the same way from stewmac.
  22. Easy way to do it would be the PRS style. Get a nice thick piece of padauk, or whaever wood you want and bore out the middle with a router (probably better to use a depth limited drill to start with and tidy with a router) and then put your top on as you would with a normal carved top Have a look on the PRS website to see what i mean
  23. if you're planning on selling go for something versatile. duncan JB/jazz?
  24. All im gonna say is i think its good theres a bit of competition. Might bring pedal prices down. And lets hope that behringer make a clone of the classic DF-2. I got an old battered one off ebay, Bloody brilliant. One trick wonder, but so much fun.
