  1. the bad horsie is more dramatic than a standard wah. it has more frequency responce than a crybaby. the bad horsie 2 is cool because you can dick with the freq a little, kind of change the contour of the curve. i have a BH and i like it a whole lot, but like i said it's a different feel. you can get a super lush high freq solo tone just by holding it all the way on, kind of satch like. if you want the run of the mill wah sound, then get a crybaby, or a jimi hendrix sig crybaby. i also have a jimi hendrix sig crybaby, it's cool, but too blah wah, if you know what i mean. you will probably like it, because you like blues and jazz and HATE shredders tone, "it has no feel" as you say. i like the more dramatic curve of the BH, the BH2 is cool, but not adjustable enough to sound much different than the BH1, so i never got one. digitech makes a digital wah with about 30 different wah sounds. you may look at that, covers allot of ground, especially for a first time wah-er. you could find your signiture tone easier with the digitech.
  2. kudos man, i think i looks sweet. that is a tired lookin guitar(intended as a compliment). i bet it sounds awesome too. killer job bro, really nice.
  3. the fred is pretty good. i have it in a strat style guitar, very versitale.
  4. if he did throw a guitar into the crowd, it most likely was one of his many RG's dubbed "Attitude" and "Lasher". these are the same type he uses to smash ala pete townsend, after a huge solo. he will never throw EVO, or FLO out in the crowd, Vai is very attached to his guitars, just look at his site, he is like a pack rat for guitars. so the likelyhood of you getting it, and the fact that it would be trashed, or the buff guy behind you dosen't knock your block off to get it, you probably wouldn't get 10 G's for it anyway. nice dream though. i have seen vai 6 times, and i have a few picks from him and billy sheehan and tony macalpine and stu hamm. you just have to wait for most of the croud to leave, then look on the ground.
  5. pink is the only color i would make it. Paul would be proud. how much would you charge for an alder body of that shape routed for one hb in the bridge position and a stop tail piece? send it in a pm, i don't know if it is a violation to solisit you on the forum. thanx dude. ps it could be unfinished.
  6. john petucci uses a piece of satin ripped from a sheet to dampen for his solos when records. he just ties it around the neck, loosley of course. it's not girly, even if it was, tell jenifer batten it's girly, she would probably smile and shred you silly jen rocks
  7. wow, that's soooo bad ass!! you've totally got to paint it hot pink, and hang some fringe from the neck!!! that is such a sweet lookin body. you rule dude!! i can't wait to see it completed!! iPABLO GILBERTO! iVIVA LA RACER X!
  8. i like it too. it is a "more affordable jem". if taken for what it is, then it's a nice axe. for the record, if it had been made in japan, then the folks at jemsite would love the f'n thing. the jem 7dbk is a more affordable jem, made in japan, and they rave about that one. once again, in the imortal words of C&C Music Factory: "Things that make you go HMMM".
  9. well it is the "more affordable" jem. it was made for a few years, but it is kind of not popular amongst jem aficianados. them main reason being that it is made in korea vice japan, the other reason is the trem. it has a lo-trs 2 trem, not the higher quality edge trem. however it does have evolution pick ups, and with a little routing of the trem pocket a edge trem will retrofit. so all is not lost. the inlay is also kind of unfinished looking due to the half vine, half dots look. here's my take: 1. if you like the guitar, then who the F**K cares what it is, or isn't. 2. an edge trem is nice, and not too difficult ro retrofit. 3. a nice RG neck will fit and you can have a custom inlay done. i recomend jeremy at LGM guitars. (if you don't like the one it's got. if you like the guitar, and it plays and sounds good to you, then no you didn't get ripped. If someone told you it was the top of the line jem, then kick them in the nuts!! check out this website. it has all of the info you need about the jem guitars. JEMSITE
  10. to a collector, sure. anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
  11. my fave old strat is rory's. the guitar of the month a few back was the rory copy relic, that was impressive. that guy spent some real time on that one, looked awesome. alex the vintage white strats have always been my fave too, yngwie has some sweet ones.
  12. i think relicing is a new direction for allot of people. especially ones lie alex who have done a few guitars with different types of finishes. i personally like them, i like them a whole lot on those bland strats. the strat has looked the same for decades, but the worn in ones have always been everyones favorites. so why then would you call anyone who likes old worn in strats a derogitory name? i think that if you could see a reclic in person, for what it is and play it, you would understand. you know what i do to strats? i like to sand all of the paint off, then i krylon them in neon paint, and add humbuckers and floyd rose tremolos!! i'm sure will will have a great remark for me.
  13. the pre amp is for the gain and eq. the power amp is for volume. so if you get a rack preamp, you'll need a rack power amp also. i have a mesa tri-axis pre and a peavey classic 50 tube power amp. the mesa is a single rack space, and the peavey is a triple rack space. i want to get a pod pro, and run that thru the power amp, that would rule.
  14. well i have the entire cavity shielded with reynolds foil, but it's not magnetic. it has been in the same place since '95. pearloid pickguards are magnetic are they? they othe pups are fine. this sucks. yeah my pick up is a reissue. if it was a real 57 paf, i would sell it and get a tom anderson classic drop top!!
  15. satch live in SF, DT Metropolis 2000 live DVD, and VH live right here right now.
  16. it's cool to have your guitar up higher these days. look at petrucci, vai, well anyone who plays the **** out of their guitar. i like my guitar at my beltline like wes said. you don't want to get carple-tunnel, man that sounds shitty
  17. hi all, well i have a s-style guitar that i built from warmoth body, and neck. i have it wired ala guitarnuts. it has a gibson 57 classic in the neck position and a dimarzio virtual 2.0 in the mid and a FRED in the bridge. well as of late the 57 classic is fading. it is much quieter than it used to be, i have had to move it closer to the strings and it can't go any closer. ***? can anyone explain this phenomenon? i really dig this pup, i can't afford another one, they are like 150 bucks.
  18. i had a mid 90's strat with lace censors in it, they had gold lettering, and it had a lace censor humbucker in the bridge with blue lettering on it. i couldn't tell you what the lettering means, but it had a fierce bluse tone in the 4 position. i would still have it, but she bit the "let me get stolen" bug at a gig on new years 2000. she had a salmon colored body, really sweet, i miss her.
  19. man, that is nice wood... diito on the just clear, why ruin it? it's tits man, really
  20. i love vai, but he learned his style from zappa. zappa would kill vai, and steve knows it.
  21. uh snork, this is no average cookie cutter jem owned by vai. this is THE prototype, the first one ever. the fact that vai played it for a few years ad his main axe is what makes it worth that much money (to a collector). this was his main axe before the famous FP with pyramids, after that it was evo. imagine what evo would pull on ebay?!!
  22. i tried the mode 4 out at the local mega store (guitar center). i liked everything except channel 4, way too much distortion for me, too much bottom end also. i liked the 3rd channel best, but it seemed to me that the clean was too clean. i did however like the gain control, usually on marshalls you can turn all of the knobs to 10, or 5 or 1 and it still pretty much sounds the same, but the mode 4 definatly had many different tones. i still like my 5150 though. wes is the mode 4 a hybrid? the sales guy said it has a solidstate power section, if so it doesn't affect the tone any. thats a big step in technology.
  23. just save your dough, and buy a jcm900 cab. it has celestions, and it can be run 4, 8, 16 ohms, and it has casters, and it's made of birch plywood. it's also cheaper than a boogie cab. i have a 5150 combo that has a closed back 212 set up, and i run a jcm900 412 at the same time via the extension jack. i like it. plus with a separate cab, you can try any head, or pre/poweramp set up thru it, until you are happy with your tone, but if your like me you won't be satisfied long.
  24. what are you talking about? 4/6 timing is very very common. the second number in a time sig is how many beats per measure there are in the piece. so why i ask you could there not be a such thing as 4/6, or any other time with 4 bars per? pick up a Dream Theater trans book, and you will see a miriad of 4/** time sigs.
  25. sorry for repeating what lich just said. i'm a special boy... rode the short bus to school.
