  1. CONGRATS!! My wife just gave birty to our twins, so i know how you feel!!
  2. A guy didn't want this, so I took it. It's a Palmer p-12. Is this fixable? Here's the guitar And again. Otherwise it appears to be in okay shape. I guess it's not a good idea to string it up and try it out?
  3. Black Flying V body with white pickguard. I'm not sure if it's genuine Gibson, so I'm not going to call it one. The paint's in decent shape, but has some light scratches. No electronics. Has the mounting stud inserts in the body for bridge and tailpiece. I want to sell it since I never got around to making a project out of it. I can give you pictures if you'd like. Overall it's in good shape. Great for a project. The silver stuff in the cavities is tin foil, for shielding. Pickguard And another photo $50.00 plus shipping or let's trade for something, waddya say?
  4. I should have remembered that. It's a good site, thanks.
  5. I'm no good at figuring out wiring, but I can follow directions. I'm switching my Strat over to a dual humbucker configuration, but I want separate volume knobs, instead of one volume and a tone. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I'm sure it's not hard, but I'll surely make a mess of it on my own.
  6. Sounds like your pickups aren't potted really well. Sometimes loosely wound wires in pickups act as microphones unless they're impregnated with wax. I can't tell you how to fix it if that's the problem, but there are tons of tutorials out there to teach you.
  7. I just had a guy give me an old True Tone 5 DC 9710 tube amp. It has two inputs, a volune control and a speaker. Does anyone know anything about it? I assume it's 5 waatts, but I'm not sure. I was considering changing out the speaker to see hptt it sounds. Maybe make a new cabinet for it since the existing one is crap. Any thoughts? Also, he gave me a tube Bogen PA head. Is it possible to turn this into an amp head and drive a cabinet? Would it be hard?
  8. Some involvement from the industry would be cool, if they could be kept in check and not talke over. I think we could all benefit from some insight and input from some major builders/suppliers. Who knows, maybe they'd even offer discounts on discontinued stuff from time to time. And a newsletter would be awesome.
  9. Sorry to confuse you. It's a humbucker in a H/S/H configuration.
  10. Thanks guys, I got it working. I went to guitarnuts.com and did the shielding modification shown here. MAN is it awesome!! The guitar has more sustain and better tone, not to mention the single coil is HUM FREE!! I reccomend it to anyone, especially since I was able to do it. If I can, you can.
  11. Got it, but what do I do with the other ones? Does that mean the green goes to the switch, or do the red and white? What happens to the one left over?
  12. Here's the diagram This is a copy of my GFS diagram. A Crunchy PAF This is my problem. I want to simply use this as a neck humbucker, but all the other pickups I've used had only a ground and a hot. This diagram confuses me because it names the black as ground, but there's also a big bare ground wire coming out of the bundle. Someone just tell me which wires get connected together and to the switch and what happens to the rest. I can wire the switch and the other pickups, but I need to know how to configure this one. PLEASE HELP, MY AXE IS USELESS AS OF NOW!!! Just for your knowledge, it's in a H/S/H configuration.
  13. Maybe cut the upper curve a little deeper??
  14. A dude gave me this one, so I'll work on it a it, but I don't know much about acoustics, so maybe you guys can let me know if it's decent or a piece of junk. It's a Regal. The frets are thin a n gold/bronse color. The headstock says Uni Bar Reinforced. The fret markers and logo are spray painted on. there used to be a tailpiece as well as a bridge. It's not too dinged up at all. Inside the soundhole says 8-65-jm, or 3-65-jm and underneath "Made in USA' Inside sound hole. Any idea about the type of wood? It seems to have a bone nut. A little info would help a lot.
  15. I just bought a 40 watt pencil type. That should do me, right?
  16. Got the neck pocket routed and here's what I have so far: Nice and tight The boy loves it too. Tons of sanding and shaping to finish, plus electronice, but so far so good.
  17. Front Back More http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v129/sgr119/S5031362-a.jpg Is it maybe a Kramer neck and a different body? I was gonna offer her 20 bucks just for the parts. Lemme know. If she wants more, how high would yu guys go? Is it worth 50 if the neck's good ans the pickup works?
  18. A guy's offering me a Regal guitar, free, but it needs a bridge and tailpice. Anyone have any knowledge about these, even general stuff?
  19. Thanks guys. I think I'm going with Robert's suggestion. Coil tapping will let me have the best of both worlds.
  20. I have a guitar i put together with old parts. It's pretty nice, really, but the pickups are out of an Ibanez RX170. They're decent, but not as musical as I'd like. I was thinking about buying a rewire kit and one of THESE or buying this set or THESE Do the single coils have enough crunch and drive to give me a decent hard rock tone, ala Ratt or VH? I'm going through a Line 6 POD, if that helps. I have both types of pickuard, so that's no problem. I want a bit more TONE, but some PUNCH too. Anyone with experience, please help. I'm leaning tward the whole set, but need help.
