  1. Go here for my approach. Simple but it works for me so far.
  2. I normally dont vcare for the Tele style body, but this is pretty noce. Kudos!
  3. I've used fretcalc to print them out and then measured just to be sure. It seems accurate.
  4. That's a nice router kit! My cheap piece of crap Ryobi just broke. The piece that locks the chuck so you can change bits just disintegrated. Looks like I may have found a replacement.
  5. I'll get to it tonight after work.
  6. I have what I believe is a Gibson Flying V body for sale or trade. Pickguard included. If you know how to identify this for sure, I'll be glad to check for you. I'm trusting my fellow forum members to do me right. Pictures on request. It's black with white guard, in good condition, but not mint. The anchors for the TOM are in there too. I need fretwire and tuner pegs for my project. A few other things as well, so make an offer. I'll sell it too, I suppose.
  7. This looks really good so far. Very nice.
  8. That's a beautiful guitar, man. I hope one day I'll do as nice a job. Les Pauls are so cool anyway, this is going to bee awesome!
  9. Dig the nice tear out on my body bottom laminate. I decided to fix it this way Read the post, you may get a tip or a laugh.
  10. Absolutely beautiful. I LOVE Padauk to begin with, so I'm especially thrilled with this one. Keep it coming.
  11. I've played a few and liked them quite a bit. Worth every penny to be sure, since they cost about 80 bucks at the local shop. Electronics are not too hot, but a trip to guitarfetish can remedy that quick and cheap.
  12. Yeah, I did. But rebuilding is gonna be a real pain. Anyone have hosting suggestions? I need MySQL and PHP, not to mention bandwidth.
  13. That's where I got the idea, Ben. I love that wood combination.
  14. Juuuust great, my website got closed down for no reason. (It was a free host) So now I have to start over. What a drag.
  15. FINALLY!!! Something worth posting a picture of... Another photo HERE. Purpleheart sandwiched between yellowheart. Got the top laminate cut out. The weird uneven edges are reallythin pieces left over by the router. I just need to sand them down. So far so good. I had to rout it with a template carving bottom piece on my router, then turn it over and use a bearing guided bit and cut it flush with the template. Since double sided tape didn't hold too well for me for some reason, I screwed the template to the wood, placing the screws where the knob holes will go. Next, the bottom laminate.
  16. I like the idea so far. Basses seem to be made in much cooler shapes than guitars.
  17. Daaaaaaaaang, that's a nice looking inlay. Great job, man.
  18. Every guitar I've had has been fitted with a tremolo, so the ground wire just passes through that big ol' cavity. but I'm building a guitar with a Leo Quan Badass wraparound bridge, so I'm not too sure how to ground to it, since it sits on top of the body. Do I go to one of the post anchors, maybe?
  19. Wish I'd have known the brad nail idea sooner. Perfect idea.
  20. Extremely cool. A great variation on the V body. Purpleheart makes it.
  21. Quite a bit of updating giong on. Guitar plan has changed a few times, but nothing really drastic. Gimme a bit of feedback if you have time, folks. Also a bit of advice in what to do about the tiop laminate. I don't have access to a planer that big. Can I just apply pressure and glue it flat?
