I dig #3 too.

I know that Warmoth sells Padouk necks , but I was curious .... are there any draw-backs to using it? If not - why don't more people use it ? I don't mean strips or multi-lam , I mean 1 piece necks or solid blank/scarf HS . What about as a fretboard ? Anyone with any experience? Thoughts ? opinions ? Wild guesses ???

It's a bad idea , thats been established. Despite that - there are ways of doing it, ie; cut the HS off and add a new one. I have 3 guitars that had the HS snapped right off. I added a new HS to them and have had no issues with ANY of them. We all glue wood together to make guitars , so - yes, its a bad idea , and YES - it CAN be done. My Vai - vine-of-life with a 3x3 HS says its do-able. I agree with the buy a proper lefty neck and sell yours off to make up the difference. But if a sledgehammer just happens to fall on it and snaps off your headstock , you have a solution ......

Thanks ! Its only tough on the tight bends- on this guitar that'd be just above the neck pocket and the bend around the neck heel. Super glue and patience take care of those.

Ahhhhhh... naked neck with color added . Tre cool. Not the drummer , either. I asked because I use vinegar to remove stuck on concrete from my work clothes when they get splattered. The acidity in it breaks down the concrete because of the protiens or whatever ... I just didn't know if it would do the same to wood fibers ....

IDK how this one will sound yet , I did one other Pine body , but it was an explorer shape , so I imagine it'll sound a little different. I'll do sound samples when its done. and yeppers - the edging protects it like a champ. BTW - pine isn't really any softer than say , Basswood, , is it ? There are Pine species that are so hard you have to drill them to put a nail into the board. no kidding . not that anybody is making guitars out of it , but its still Pine of some sort. any word on what the acids might do to the wood fibers over time ? and wouldn't black dye or stain get you the same effect ? just wonderin' .........

o.k. ......... Why not ???? ( I don't get it ) Brian - the edging is automotive trim from the parts store. This application is a wide strip surrounded by 1/8" strips on the sides . More pics as they happen.

Did you have to tighten your truss rod a lot to get it where you have it ? If so , try a lighter gauge of string or a detuned setting to get less string tension.... I'm just guessing - it's hard not being able to see it. Check it with a straight edge if possible , that'll tell you more than I can .

Thanks man - thats my initials done in rhinestones. Blingy. ...... the complicated looking controls are simply two systems , one for the bridge/neck , and one for the middle hunk o 'pup. Just a single V/T , a switch for each "system" and then a switch to choose between the two setups. To siplify : top row - output jack , T/ V ( bridge/neck system ) the three way switch chooses one 'system' or the other or both then a T/V for the middle pup , a 3 way switch for the bridge/neck pups , and then a 5 way for the middle pups. I have a green cap on the 'bucker/neck tone pot and an orange cap on the 3 sc's . 250k pot for the SC's , 500k for the others. to clarify this ones purpose in life - Its a studio mule. I don't play live anymore so its not like I'll be driving it like a stickshift during a song , just between them. ......

There are adhesive backed vinyls that are made to be printed on with ink jet printers that can be applied to shapes like pickups and fretboards. It will stretch and conform to those shapes. I cannot say I have ever seen it done on a guitar, but it happens all the time on vehicles. I have seen a set of keys laid on a hood of a car and covered with a graphic made this way. It conformed to the surface of every key in the set. It does take some skill to do it properly. and it does involve a heat gun (or hair dryer and a little patience) to help stretch the vinyl and remove its memory. I'm sure there are several graphics companies in your area that can produce these. You need to look for one that advertizes vehicle graphics and wraps. SR You can also do the rubber cement / picture over a pup. I put two pics of Dimebag on my Dime tribute guitar and they were BL/Duncan so the rails and screws had to be re-exposed through the pic. Yours is going on an EMG - shouldn't be a problem at all.

Well - She's done , and on St. Patricks day of all days.... lol clear coats are done and shes re-assembled and strung / tuned. To recap : Teak body - Teak neck , ( one piece with angled head stock) Ebony board with double rows of emerald green dots - glitter green paint and custom electronics.

A leg rest ..... go figure ......... the zero frets I've done have all been of the same wire as the frets themselves. When you level and crown , just don't level that one. Wait till other more 'sperienced cap'ns chime in, but its worked 4 times so far with no problems. I wouldn't fret it.

Yep , thats the one - identacle. Have you figured out what the hinged metal strap thing is ????? I never did. Looking good - and remember , just because it's tuner-less , don't mean you cant have a HS. My ML clone was done using a FR speedloader , but I put a HS on it for 2 reasons : Aestetics and 2: Future option of using tuners should the speedloader strings become extinct. ( happening rapidly ) Dig the Bass. Looks like upper fret access will be a beast.

I 've got 2 sets of twins , so when I saw 58 twins , I was like - Thats a LOT of kids ! Then I saw you're building guitars ...... coolness. I like the FB being booked on two different guitars. I've done it myself with a pair of guitars using birds eye maple and its a cool effect. I have that same trem you describe from a Pearl River headless guitar. If you'd like a pic or two or some dims for the trem cavity , let me know. I have a nut too. The bridge is in use , but the nut aint. another "if you need it , let me know " lol.
