Im going to Minnesota state Southeast tech for Acoustic and electric construction... I may also take the other stringed instrument repair classes.. What are the chances of getting into some shop after taking thoes courses?

Ive been really trying to figure out how those fiberglass bodies are made.. I realize that the bodys were created from molds, but I dont know How to make a mold... But If I could get a mold, then Id probably have a great time building an old airline style guitar. So if anyone has ever made one of em, please share your knowledge... And as an edit, I realized that a thread was started not long ago... but didnt turn up in my searches.

Well.... MAbey its not possible... But what i mean (And thanks alot for helpin me somewhat) Because each humbucker has 2 coils, then thatd be 4 coils in total.. I just would like an on/off for each individual coil... If your still confused, then ill have to carefully try again....

Im just getting into luithery and im building my 1st guitar... I dont expect it to be perfect but it will be the most beautiful thing ive ever seen... to me at least... and I plan to enter it into GOTM... But the instruments being created make me wonder where im going to the the money for this addiction i feel coming on.... But im glad I started doing this..

I really need a wiring diagram for the guitar im building.... Its going to be 2 Buckers.... Id like to have 4 mini toggle switches, one for each coil so that i can have any possibility between the 2 P.u's. Im also going to have a concentric Pot. for the master tone / vol. I cant find anywhere that has this.... so id appreciate more than you can imagine is someone could get me a scematic. thanks!

I tok a look under the pickguard of my 2004 American Deluxe Strat. Anniv. model and in the silver tape "ever" was carved with a pen or something. not near the pickups but just randomly there... Now why would that be?

Well I wound up just playing around with capacitors on the tone Pot.... And Im, glad I did... I somehow got an encredibly perfect sound through the humbuckers. I jsut took apary an old cd player and took the capacitors from there. Ceramic ones..

I ran a search for loads of stuff (I know "Stuff" is a very generic describing word) and I couldnt find what I was lookin for... Obviously.. I want to modify in some way a guitars electronics but I have nothing special... I have a few random capacitors and whatever is in the little electronic gadgets around the house. Is there Anything I could to to a 2 Hums 1 vol&tone and a 3 way toggle circuit for anything? My mind is open!

Well I have 2. 1. Just because you have acess to the biggest bandsaw in the continent doesnt mean you should use it. 2. Usually... simpler is better.

Im building my first guitar, as youve all guessed because of the name of this thread... Its a birdseye/quilted top with a stew mac through body neck and a chery back. I want to chamber it later on, but Im not that far into it yet. Now that I have my neck, I can stert really getting stuff done on it. The headstock will be veneered or topped-- cant decide-- with some extremely curly maple I have. Im having Chris Sayer make me a single coil for neck and a humbucker for bridge. All hardware will be crome/ polished steel. Im having a on/on/on switch for my pickup selection, an on/on for mid boost ( for the single coil[or for both]) and an on/off for coil tapping in the hum. Im also going to have a concentric Pot... outside for vol inside for tone. This is the current design for the guitar, I might give it a realllly light green burst or a light orange burst, but im keeping the back natural..... Where the maple meets the cherry I plan to have a lack pinstripe around the guitar. anyway, here

I just ran a search for "Gold flake" and got no results, so im going to ask this question.... Im building a guitar ( pics will eventually be up ) and Im going to have my last name in cursive on the headstock.... I had the idea to take that really thin gold film and rub it into an engraving on the headstock to have a gold flake/ veiny effect .... Has anyone attempted this yet and has some tips and knows where to find this material?

I feel sooo luckey right now. I have 2 8x20x1 inch birdseye maple slabs glued togeather and fully planed right now. That will be the front of my guitar, finished in natural. The back of my guitar is going to be 2 piecs of cherry with extremley curly well... curly maple sandwiched inbetween the chyerry. All around the guitar where the birdseye meets the cherry there will be a thin little black pinstripe where the woods meet! The best part is-- I got the wood free! All of it! with lots of birds eye to spare!! ( My grandfathers property just gave out 3 nice full birds eye trees... Talk about cash for the family eh?! (Im not using the birdseye from thoes trees though, the wood im using has all been drying for around 20 years.. It was found in an attic somewhere.)
