  1. At this point the neck wasn´t glued yet look the tenon, it not done in this picutre, so I had a chance to sand all blue marks, however this guitar will be completly paint with white. No was not a chainsaw, it would be a little brutal! (LOL) I use a rasp to shape the neck, when its done I use a 36 grain broken belt of my blackndecker dragster sander to remove the "chainsaw" marks and after that 80 and 120 sand papers. Theres a lot of sand work to do in this guitar. Tks!!!
  2. Nice wood and for free? Better !!!!!
  3. I put, a few years ago, a Fender Custom Shop 69 set in my strato. CS69´s are a vintage low gain pups, to compense this I put all pups higher that I can. The results sounds great till 10th fret, at this point to the end of scale, in all strings, when played sounds the main note and a ghost note, like a bad octave was conected to the guitar. I disassembly the guitar about 4 times, leveling the frets twice, remake the eletrical conections one time and nothing change: the ghost note was always there. And may clearance gone to hell, this ghost note dirt completly the sound. When I decide to remove the pups I begin to down then, thinking "this not gona happen" so I plug the guitar with pups completly down and for my surprise the sound was perfectly! The final setup was made with the neck position completly down, the middle a little bit higher and the bridge position completly high. Well all this to ask you if you don´t try do drop the neck position pup. In my case the alnico magnets was to strong that causes this deformation in the sound. Lucky!
  4. Very nice work man! I love to see this kind of arch being build, and love more build one.
  5. Nice draw, I like so much! Very good choice of woods, Jatoba it´s kinda heavy but have a wonderful mids and bass tones. Where did you buy this block "made in brazil"? How much you pay? Here it´s not a expensive specie this block costs something between U$15 to U$25. Congrats man!! I´m keep looking!!
  6. updating the thread, fretboard redy, neck shape too, now sand a lots of!!!
  7. Updating the pictures. So the arch top is done and so the binds too. The fret board is redy do fretwork. Still missing the side dots, thats the reason that I didnt glue the neck yet.
  8. Thanks 3Dog for your words! I Don´t think that making copies it´s kinda boring, I love wood working for me it´s far to be boring. I think in do someting new and mine some day, but for now, build copies it´s a way to learn more and more, till I find the exctlay design and building method to do my own model of instruments. It´s difficult do find a design when you like many and diferent things, the new, the old, traditional and the untraditional. Gather all this things in one original concept it´s a very very hard way. When I start think and draw, most of times I finish by deleting all corel draw files that I created. It seems that all the great shapes of bodies and headstocks had been created. Sure I don´t have thinking enough to had a big inspiration, may it come some day, or not! Anyway thanks!
  9. Congrats man! Very nice and clean work! Well done!
  10. Hello guys I usually do the tenon in this way, more PRS than Gibson for a few reasons. First it has a greater gluing surface area, which in my opinion makes a stronger joint, and I believe that it increases the propagation of sound by improving the sustain of the instrument. Myth? I don´t know but it works fine and sounds great at the end! Second it is easier to build, and that way I can do a confort line on neck heel , see the topic of Lespaul Paul Gold Top that I build some time ago. About the few clamps to attach the board, think that its enough, I will clamping until de glue squezes when it stops I stop too, till today all fretboards are in the rigth place! kekeek Seeya!
  11. Nice and clean build, a future GOTM is coming. I love the top inlays project, the chinese dragon it´s almost equal to my left shoulder tattoo. Keep follow this project !!!

  14. I try to do the best copy into de owner budget. At first I think to put the original pickups but I read in a forum ( can´t remenber) that the orginials fender replacements was too difrent of the 70´s pickups, that the GFS are the best choice and a non expensive ones. So like I have read several good reviews for the GFS in general, I decide to use then. The neck constrution was difrent, because I use a 2 way truss, and it´s a little complicated to put it inside the chanel with neck in one piece like the original. The pickugard in one "ply" was not my choice but the owner´s choice so I have to do this way. Tks all let´s talk!!! Seya!
  15. Tks guys! The swiming pool is some weigth relive, Tauari its kinda heavy. The finish is Poliuretane Bi component varnish, something about 10 thin coats, before polish sand with 400, 600, 800, 1200, 2000, 2500 water sand, a lot of work but an excelent final result.
