its all a matter of opinion. some people love 24.75 in. scale lengths, and hate 25.5s and others are the opposite. personally, i like gibson guitars better than fender, but I like the fender scale much better than the gibson, and I can play faster on a fender than a gibson. so it just depends on your hands

thanks for the info. none of the music stores around here seem to have many of these amps. the only 2 stores within 35 minutes of me are a guitar center and a firehouse music. the guitar center only seems to carry the really big name amps (marshalls, mesas, crates, and fenders), and the firehouse doesnt have much of and amp selection at all. one of these days Il try to make a trip out to a bigger store and check out their selection. How does the number of preamp tubes and power amp tubes affect the sound of the amp? thanks to everyone again

I really dont want a big 4x12 cabinet. I dont need anything that big, and I definantly dont want to drag one around. a 1x12 or 2x12 combo would be perfect. as to what other gear I have, I use a 1983 Ibanez Roadstar 2, basically a 22 fret strat clone, a digitech gnx 1 effects pedal, and I have just started construction on a superstrat-ish guitar which is on hold due to the amp situation. Another question: is there a major sound difference between different types of tubes? someone in this topic said there was, but is it dramatic enough to consider it when choosing an amp thanks to everyone for the help

The peavey valveking 2x12 and the Randall rg50tc 1x12 are the same price. the peavey seems a better choice, but i have never played through either. has anyone tried both? Thanks

Thanks for the help everyone I am a little hesitant about modeling amps, because I would rather have 2 or 3 good sounds than 30 not as good ones. I normally just adjust the eq for a different sound. Has anyone tried one of these: http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?...r=SX300C&CID=GA

I have always played through a 25 watt solid state 10 inch speaker ibanez amp for the ever since I started playing electric guitar. At first i did very little performing, so it wasnt much of a problem. usually when i perform, I just put a microphone in front of it, which usually works ok. but there is not always an extra microphone for me to use, and it looks a little weird to see the lead guitarist of a band playing through such a small amp. I have been able to put off buying a new amp until now, but i think it is time. Even our bass player says i need a new one. So ive started looking for a new one, and need help. I am looking in the 350-600 dollar price range for a high-end solid state or a cheap tube amp. The peavey valveking 112 looks great, but it got mixed reviews at harmony-central. and nobody i know has used one I have heard good things about the line 6 flextone amps from a friend who has one. The Vox valvestate amps look nice too. If you have any advice, or know of any other good amps for the price, please let me know. I play many styles of music, pretty much all, (except country/western) so i want something that can handle a variety of sounds. Thanks

I obviously have no idea what you really plan to do with whatever processor you choose, but if you want to use its wah function you will need something with an expression pedal. you may be able to attach a passive volume pedal to it to control it as a wah pedal, i dont know. If you are looking at a processor mainly for the amp modeling, the v amp2 should work. if you are getting one more for the effects, get a digitech. Ive found that whether you get a digitech or a beringer or a korg or whatever else you can find, you can usually get a pretty good sound from it, they all work pretty good.

it would probably allow a lot more feedback since the wood could move so much more.

It is a nice idea, but really, it would be too much work to switch pickguards that much. I would suggest just getting humbuckers that can be split to sound like single coils. flipping a switch is a LOT easier and faster than changing a pickguard.

about the 24+ fret question, id say go for 24. not any more. you will probably never need more than 24., and if you used more, they would be hard to play accurately, and if you do use more frets, the pickups will be placed too close together, and wont sound as different as they should. your guitar would start to look like the 31 fret danelectro longhorn (do a search) EDIT: sorry, i meant danelectro guitarlin

I like both guitars... a lot... but the whole lawsuit was just a stupid attempt to control the whole singlecut market. Im glad prs can make singlecuts again, they are one of my favorite guitars, not that it makes a difference to me, I cant afford one

could I replace it with a tune 0 matic? does anyone know if it would fit?

what do you mean by dead spots? is that just when the sound seems really lifeless, and sustain is decreased?

I am probably going to buy one of these 2 guitars. I just cant decide which. they both seem great for the price. (they seem to be pretty much the same guitar Ibanez Sz (probably the 520qm) Shecter C1 plus Any advice would be appreciated.

strats are Ok, I cant stand teles. everything about them... their sound, the way they look, 21 frets...terrible My 2 cents
