  1. yep it is, but will it work? I want to make my own, no one sees it anyway so looks dont bother me. I am going to make my own, I just want the best functional design. buying is to easy, I'm a gluttin for punishment!
  2. Ok I found it , heres the link. looks real easy. http://europa.spaceports.com/%7Efishbake/strat/truss.htm
  3. I'm wanting to make as many parts as possible myself, Now its time for the truss rod, I know they arent expensive but its the "satisfaction" thing. I saw one page where the guy bent a threaded rod and made one, is that acceptable? I'll post the link if it would help. Or if someone makes their own and wants to share the knowledge! thanks
  4. So I take it, all I have to do is put it in? No problems with any other "sheilding" or types of "interference" ? Can it be that simple?
  5. Yes there is. It's a major PITA to do, and kills your arms dead (or, well, gets you buff, as well as your finish). Foam pads goooood. ...oh, yeah mean in terms of results! Yeah, hand buffing can work fine. ← You can get arbors that will fit almost any plain old electric motor that you can put buffing wheels on. I saw them in an eastwood car restoration catalog for 6 or 7 dollars, also lowes and walmart sell small bench grinders for like 40 bucks, you just buy 6" buffing wheels for them. my buffer/polisher is actually a 10" bench grinder,If you have a grinder, just remove the gaurds and add pads. and wala you have a buffer.
  6. Drak, Was the light put that close so we could see it better? LOL I want to get me some, my thought was little "saturn" planets. never seen them but I'm sure someone has done it. I also thought Roman Numerals might look pretty killer.
  7. Oh yea when they say go, you go! I was just very disturbed when I seen that on fox news. I just want to "understand" why they cant walk out. It just dont seem right to me. Maybe I misunderstood, I want someone to confirm what I think I know I heard.
  8. I pray I misunderstood! please watch it and tell me!
  9. and that is exactly what i would do in that situation...and it is probably also what alot of the people did who are a little more survivalistic than the ones who just stayed and floundered around. i'm not putting the blame on the people who stayed there..but ultimately you must do what you must do... ← cant, they wont let them ← b.s. who is they?who are these magical barricades consisting of?all i see is how nobody was doing anything until the national gaurd arrived... unless you mean now?and now is not 3 days ago ← No watch fox at 2 am if they dont cut it. Sheppard and Geraldo was raising cain about it on hanity and combs, they cut them off pretty quick.

  11. Some didn't have the facilities to leave...........food stamps aren't proper down payment for a motor vehicle, I guess. ← Yeah this is an important cynicism to confront.. "well if they wanted to ride out the storm, then they got what's coming to them" There are those are bull headed and want to ride out the storm, and they deserve such judgement but in this case you're talking about a high density urban area with a lot of poor people without cars, access to money, etc.. Public transportation is their only means of getting around and the city busses weren't exactly offering to take folks out of the city. The vast majority of these people were trapped. plain and simple and hopefully they are finally getting the help they need. ← They absolutely had a choice. 95% of the 'stranded' people I've seen have two working legs. START WALKING. West, North...doesn't matter. Food, water and power are about a 5 hr. walk out of NOLA directly west. And their chances of getting a ride are increased exponentially. And with all the new Nike's around downtown, no one has any excuse about not having proper footwear. ← They wont let them walk out.
  12. ok, as for the Govenor......sense was the wrong word, Knowledge is a better word.
  13. My wife just brought this to my attention, has anyone else noticed this.... The FEDS at the start of this were giving the Govener any thing that was asked for. (Their words) and then things went to crap quick!, Yeasterday Bush "named" the FEMA head as the diaster coordinater for katrina, and now things are getting better . The wife has asked me Why the Feds even thought the state Govenor had enough sense to coordinate this? (Ingnore my spelling typing quick)
  14. A couple people there, They Interveiwed, Jeff Carr, Mike Burns, Joy Crucia, Mike Durand. and another female,I didnt get here name. The Place looks ruff...Man I feel for you. alot of work to be done.
  15. garehanman If your here MSNBC is in your town NOW!!! Live 10:54 pm est
  16. Sorry BigD and others, your right Im going to donate some money to the red cross as soon as i can... i know its not a lot but as mentioned before, every little bit of money can help... ~~ Slain Angel ~~ ← I'm donating at Lowes, they will match in store contributions up to a mil. I figure double what I can spare. Also... IMHO its New Orleans and Lousiana's fault more than it is FEMA's. It's the state and city's responsibility to build and maintain the levies, and you can bet your bottom dollar they had the lowest bidder (or someones brother-in-law) build them. If they were built and maintained better the flood never would have happened. Thats the worst problem, Katrina was nice to them in comparison.
  17. I dont know whats happening here, (south east georgia) but the people are freaking out and Swamping the gas stations, in 2 hrs gas went from 273 to 339 (regular) I think its price gouging, I need gas but I'm not dealing with that mess, I'll go out at 3am to the 24 hr place (if there is any left).....
  18. That's interesting, already been in a conflict with Bill Lester over at reranch. Just so people are aware, the not so descreet means of communication here has already hit search engines. So I'd be careful on what's said if it turns into a legal situation. ← Maybe that will encouarge him to "play fair" or Maybe fender will call him!
  19. I do have a tech question, maybe someone can explain. They are saying some people are "Internetting" from there (New Orleans) my question is how? no phones, no cell towers and no power..... is there a new "Magic" modem I dont know about?
  20. If the 2 went all the way.... otherwise with the 2 between the pickups, it just looks to me like you had to do it to hide something.
  21. mmmm man I heard one guy jumped to his death in the dome, A cop was shot in the head by looters, and msnbc showed 2 female cops looting walmart with the rest of the crooks... I figured the levy would give and we would lose the big easy for a while, actually forever (it'll never be the same) but I didn't even think about the stress hitting people so quick. I figured a week before people started hurting themselves and each other. Man its sad. and that poor fella they keep showing who lost his wife when the house split in half and he couldn't hold on to her....... that brought a tear to my eye.
  22. ahh man... I had an ex who built me up like this....... going to show me something new, and it didnt happen then eithier ... Lol! foreal though, I cut and glued it today, it had a nice vibe all the way up the 110 inch piece when I tapped it on the end, so I'm going to give it a shot. Its a freebie so why not. If nothing else its good practice.
  23. After a "lunchtime" MSN search... I'm just as Ignorant about luan as I was before. My first search "luan" came back with peoples names. My second "luan wood" came back with layerd type woods and things like doors made from the luan I see daily (layerd like plywood). Now a search for "Meranti" got some wood that looked similar to mine. I did find one site that said luan was a mahogany veneer. Do you have any links so I can compare mine, and make sure I dont have junk wood? I would hate to waste a week or two working on a neck thats made from junk. Thanks JJ
  24. I have always heard and experinced this statement : "Plywood and luan are “layered” wood products". I have used luan in 1/4" sheets for backing on furniture I have built. This is not a layered wood that I have. Nor has any of the luan I have seen been "dark reddish brown" in color, always a light tannish looking. I am not saying anyone is wrong, I am saying thats a whole new ....... Board to whack me with if you are correct. I will check into it tommorow after work, now I have to crash (gotta be up in 3 hrs.) night!
  25. Have you busted him out on the tele thread yet? He has not affected me or I would. I dont sell anything guitarish (new word?) I dont actually sell much at all... I am glad I seen this post and didn't buy his templates! You should sign up,(its free) go to his thread about fender busting people, and dog him out....get the word out! Let them know what kinda trash he is!
