  1. Easiest way that I can think of, is if you used something similar to those photoflames.
  2. http://www.prepal.com/data/Marshall%20Ampl...lifications.htm average running price on Ebay is $226 USD.
  3. If I had CNC, I'd say that, but I don't... I frickin' love those things.
  4. That pickup booster runs for around $70... the preamps Drak mentioned run for around $40.... you do the math.
  5. There was a guitar camp located at various places throughout the country last summer. The nearest one was in Massachusetts (sp?). I was hoping to attend, as Terry Syrek was there, and I've heard some absolute ravings about his playing, but alas, money wasn't there for it... I think it was National Guitar Workshop.
  6. That's what I was always told. I would imagine Jehle's explanation is probably a direct lead-in to this. More treble= more twang.
  7. OK, thanks for the insight.
  8. Also, I've been looking at the Seymour Duncan MusicMan 5-string pickup (here)... is this the same as the one in the Stingray here? and is it any good?
  9. Any models in particular that you'd recommend?
  10. I'm looking at building a five-string bass, and I'm trying to scope out my options on pickups. I'm not looking for the best on the market, just a pickup that sounds decent. I'll be using one pickup in the bridge position alone. The sound I'm looking for is something like Tony Levin (he uses musicman pickups): fat, can be overdriven fairly easily, and with decent clean sound, but can get into a kind of dirty jazz/blues line. I've read up on some of the active/passive stuff, and I've kind of come to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter either way, if the sound is there. Any thoughts? edit: changed from six strings to five.
  11. With friends like him, who needs an enema! Yeah, there are some pretty pictures on that site. You definately need to take what he has to say with a grain of salt. ... I'll take the entire shaker, thank you.
  12. Stewmac, Carvin, (and warmoth) will sell you the neck with the peghead uncut if you request it.
  13. Not to hijack, but that dude has the best gig in the country.
  14. Have you guys heard the new one (its the third)... not quite as original as the first, but better than the second, IMO.
  15. Steve Stevens/Joe Perry, here, definately.
  16. I would imagine they're talking about laser milling, which isn't cheap, but I would imagine it's quite efficient.
  17. I'm doing the same thing, as part of "tech club"... I'm just trying to figure out what I want to build (specs-wise). They'd probably let you do it.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ibanez contracted Gotoh designers to create the unit.
