  1. I'm using Inventor... it's not too bad, but it costs a pretty penny.
  2. Gary Moore... SRV... Journey (hey, ya wanted ballads), Scorpions...
  3. My dad bought one of those Wagner power painting units a while back... I would never consider using it on a guitar.
  4. For the "P-90 sound", listen to the song, "Bad to the Bone"...
  5. Here's the info from warmoth: "New Gold colored fret wire is a tough copper alloy without Nickel and the color is similar to 12k Gold in appearance. This is not the same brass color as the Warwick wire. This is not just a "plating". It is solid throughout. "
  6. Classy says it all... the 31 fret neck was also quite impressive.
  7. Automotive finishes are what I've seen recommended... I'm currently using Duplicolor (the automotive division of Krylon), and their materials seem to work fairly well.
  8. umm...well to ANSWER your question.... i use a clotheshanger, straighten the part the clothes usually hang on,hang it from a nail(upside down)then run the hook through the top tuner hole... i reshape the hook just a liitle to make it run straight in the tuner holes so that the hook itself isn't in the way of the painting Ok... thanks. The tuner holes did occur to me, but I couldn't figure out a way to hang it without blocking the paint.
  9. Like the title suggests, I'm about to finish a neck. On the body, you can drill a hole (or just use a predrilled one) in the neck pocket, but how do you guys hang a neck?
  10. Hehe... I'm going to see them in early July when they come around here with Clapton (and yes, I'm going for Randolph, Clapton's just icing on the cake). Definately work a look-see. Not only is he a wicked player, but he can write as well.
  11. Yep... oddly enough, I just picked some up this afternoon... the blue is medium adhesion, where as the green is very high adhesion, and one of recommended uses on the label is "laquer spraying". Southpa: any danger of using the green on bare/sealed wood?
  12. quite a few automotive stores sell clearcoat in an aerosol can... I've purchased some for my next project, but have yet to use it (can't attest to quality).
  13. A lot of paint stores will match colors for you if you ask nicely enough. BTW, Home Depot will color match for you. And if it's not exactly what you want, they'll take it back and do it over.
  14. Why not just connect the control panel to the ground wire of the bridge pickup?
  15. You could give the Doobie Brothers or Dire Straights a shot. Or Creedence.
  16. Vai... though I have to say, Gilbert's more solid technically than he is.
  17. Wait... one question: does it buzz on the clean channel (and no distortion pedals or any of that stuff)?
  18. Wow... that's an old memory for ya... BTW, like sinner said, have something over the body. It gives you a little workspace right next to what you're doing. I usually use a few layers of paper towel. One other thing: when you're desoldering... know what you want to move and where. Get the joint hot, then move. You don't have to rush, but don't sit there with the iron on your parts for five minutes while you figure out what you're doing.
  19. correct me if I'm wrong... mf=millifarad uf=microfarad pf= picofarad I don't recall the exact orders of magnitude (the corresponding numbers) that go with each... but I hope that helps.
  20. only popular as Duel of the Fates from Star Wars. no one would know it if it weren't for that movie. Beethoven's 8th piano sonata "Pathetique" was so much cooler. Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata would have to rank as one of my favorite songs in any genre.
