  1. You could always hunt Mr. Walrus
  2. Yeah, but there's no real definable gap now because I tried leveling it and now it's just almost level....
  3. haha thanks guys. I like how you listed fire wood as a better option that hand planing and sanding...I do have a woodstove too...
  4. Alright...I messed up but I think it can be saved. When I glued the boards together for my blank they were offset and I didn't catch it until after the glue dried (I'm an idiot). I tried leveling it out a little with a random orbital sander (probably not the greatest idea)...made some difference but it's still off. What are my options? Take it to a cabinet maker and have them level it? Or hand sand and check it a lot with a straight edge? Any others?
  5. dovetail joint? I know Martin uses it on some of their guitars.
  6. I just received the warmoth neck I ordered. I got it with predrilled holes for sperzels, but it doesn't have holes for the little guide pins. Is that something that warmoth typically omits?
  7. amber sand back black yellow sand back black
  8. Would Drano work? It's just sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, and hydrogen peroxide. *The sodium hydroxide might break down cellulose in the wood though.
  9. Actually...these posts are in that thread: "All their pickups are great." "the H/B sound is warm & full, and warmer than the Dimarzio PAF pros in my other strat."
  10. I've been courious about these for some time, had some discussions and looked as much as I could. I've concluded. They are reverse wired. I still haven't seen a useful review yet. I still haven't heard a sample. There are no detailed metrics (dc resistance, res peak, freq response..nothing) about the pickups at guitarfetish.com ← here you go (no audio sample though) http://guitar.zentao.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23956
  11. nah, no shredding; more allman brothers type stuff, jazzy stuff,
  12. So would mahogony neck w/ limba body muddy it too much? (I gotta choose between maple and mahogany...most likely with ebony fretboard).
  13. dunno if this'll help http://guitar.zentao.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25708 http://guitar.zentao.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23956
  14. I just got the stewmac template...my concern was the length of the pocket on the template which 4.5" while the warmoth site says the neck pocket should be 3". Does this have something to do with the bearings on the router bit? EDIT: I figured it out from looking at another thread.
  15. Gotcha. I was thinking along the lines of something like Warmoth's 22 fret necks where the neck ends in the same place as a normal 21 fret neck but has the freboard overhang
  16. Maybe I don't know enough yet, but why would that matter? Wouldn't the scale length and therefore bridge placement be the same?
  17. What about oil finishes? Couldn't he do that and not need grain filler?
  18. Yup...tea can be used. So can coffee. My mom used to stain fabrics like this. And hey, coffee staining smells good.
  19. i know that method....havnt tried it tho...i will sooon....do u know if its n e good ← No I don't but I'd though about trying it someday. The first plant that came to mind was pokeweed. It's berries makes a deep purple color....takes forever to wash off though; and I think they're toxic if ingested but that shouldn't matter here.
  20. If you have an angled headstock you don't need the graduated height. But to answer your question, probably not. ← I know I don't need the graduated height with an angled neck but I already have set of sperzels that I was originally going to use on a strat. And I'm getting a neck from warmoth and am deciding on the explorer or warmoth style headstock (going w/ those because of where the truss rod adjust is)
  21. Man...I thought you were going to make a stain from pigments in plants.
