hi folks,
I am planning to build a guitar for almost a year now, spending all the time reading books about it and visiting websites (project guitar ) but until now, I just was too scared to do the first step and buy the materials (I think you all know that feeling, the fear of spending too much money on building a instrument that won't even be playable... maybe )
Today I recieved my neck (yes I admit, I'm a loser which buys the neck for his first guitar ) and made a drawing of the guitar body and headstock. Although I did it free-hand, I think it came out very well - i like it a lot. It looks a bit(?) like a EBMM Petrucci, right. but actually it was supposed to look like my yamaha electric bass
but I like this petrucci shaping a lot, so I putted it into the drawing. but in the end, it wont be a that large chamfer (actually I don't even know whether I can find a that large router bit).

the guitar is going to get ebmm-style 4/2-locking tuners by schaller. further, I will use a EARVANA nut and as you can see on the pictures, a schaller 3d6 hardtail. pickups will be a seymour duncan STR-3 tele singlecoil on the neck and a SH-6 humbucker on the bridge. electrics will be very simple, 3-way switch, tone, volume.
I'm just waiting to get the wood for the body, before i begin cutting out the routing templates. that'll be fun
