  1. build an fm transmitter and put that in... dont even need an amp then because it will go thru the hifi
  2. i dont even think it belongs there... they are just going to give away some strings to the biggest spammer/brown noser , and another thing why do you have a television in your Guitar forum logo ?
  3. just out of interest i broke out my old bat41 diodes and wired them up inside a little pedal box i have for this type of thing (its an old dvdr spindle with 2 jacks and a 3pdt switch) anyway i just wired it up into the switch so i dont have to f'about with my guitar innerds and the blackice seems to make the guitar a little brighter (not much overdrive as such) it definately cleans the signal a little. theres other wiring methods but this is how i just did it (im using a dimarzio super2 and 6k GFS pickup in bridge, this is probably why i only get a little volume boost, it needs hot pickups). http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/8851/blackicerm8.jpg
  4. do you want series or parallel wiring ? using mini switches in series is a lot like brian mays wiring (obviously without the phase switches) could just use these diagrams to suit your humbuckers http://www.treblebooster.com/brian_may_pickup_mod.htm and the tone pot would be the blackice (which sucks) do a forum search for more info, its been talked to death on here, i remember trying it ages ago with no results. edit. decided to search for you. http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...mp;hl=black+ice
  5. yeah arnt they selector knobs though for a rotary switch ? radio knobs usually work by pullys (the tuner anyway) theres a complicated load of string inside to tune the radio (this make its more precise compared to a direct connection, i think its somthing around a 3:1 ratio, so you turn the tuner 3 times and it only moves once)
  6. dont they have a standard warranty period anyway ? most amps ive bought come with 5 year limited warrantys , whatever all that means i dont know but 5 years seems good to me. most televisions ive bought only have a year warranty and the failure rate seems a lot higher with tv's wonder why this is...
  7. i like the epiphone amps (bit bland as somone said earlier) if you want a different sound its best to use a pedal (distortion for instance) ive got a behringer amp which is ok but a bit boring... maybe i should sell it for a smaller more interesting amp
  8. after you have made X amount of posts i think (maybe 100), thats not a cue to go spamming either...
  9. you can get a bot/script for the forums to stop clients that seem to be spambots but they are not 100% perfect and block normal users as well some times. the only other way is to make it so every has to be verified manually but this isnt perfect either : ( since spambots have all different names and seem genuine..
  10. i cut the bottom off my pickguard (the bottom 2 tones) so i could change the battery on my internal fuzzface, its a bit like a duo sonic with the metal part of the scratchplate and imo a defect in the strat design...
  11. its strange ive got a lot of lace sensors and they all seem to have that classic single coil sound, ive heard people call them sterile and overrated but ive also seen a lot of people using them (amatures and pro's) pete townshend and clapton to name 2, i think clapton used lace pickups (a set of 3 gold sensors) to perform layla live many times thru the 80's and 90's and i think i remember him using them on a guitar at that recent (last couple of years) cream concert at the royal albert hall. that said ive also seen him use the fender vintage noiseless pickups (which i dont know anything about) i havent tried them so couldnt say if they were any good, but the same tones (old songs dont seem to change much live even though the hardware does) seem to be achievable with both types of pickup. maybe it comes down to effects, theres a few songs (shes waiting/white room) on the live aid concert (disk 3) that seem to be flooded with effects (chorus/wah) maybe thats where the 'sound' comes from....
  12. lol thats good idea to put "reported" in the threads, i never thought of that, and i generally report spam if i see it.
  13. yeah a wire from the tone to the volume is right. the tip of the output jack is the part that looks like a claw solder the hot lead to that lug and the ground to the other. it sounds like the bridge ground is missing if it gets louder when you touch the bridge
  14. that wouldnt make it buzz.. do you have a common point in your guitar that you are soldering to ? (the back of a pot) Solder all the grounds to the back of a pot and the wire from the bridge (so the strings are grounded) make sure the ground on the output jack is connected to the back of the pot. http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/1899/wduhh3t1101wl8.jpg
  15. hi, i have been lookin around for a simple in and out active equalizer circuit and i havent really been able to find one anywhere, has anyone seen a schematic for this ? the tonemender http://www.runoffgroove.com/tonemender.html looks perfect, but it has a level control and all the hi/mid/lo controls for 'modelling' other amps id rather just have the bass/mid/treble controls so its simple (already have a preamp circuit as well). any help with this appreciated, im thinking of having no tone controls on my little amp if i cant find a basic eq that works.
  16. you dont need the tbx at all, thats just a fender add on, waste of money imo
  17. the warranty is already void since you have taken the pickup to pieces, plus theres not much you can do apart from the change the magnet, which will mostly effect the tone and not the dc resistance/output of the pickups edit here is some basic info on magnets http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/pickups.php
  18. you could put the Ruby amp inside it http://www.runoffgroove.com/ruby.html that has gain/volume controls and runs on one 9v battery
  19. ive found 4pdt on/on and on/off/on @ banzai http://www.banzaieffects.com/Miyama-4PDT-o...e-pr-16267.html http://www.banzaieffects.com/Miyama-4PDT-o...e-pr-16271.html not exactly what you asked for but i hope its useful EDIT ok bingo. http://www.allparts.com/categories.php?cat_name=SWITCHES
  20. cut them out thats what i did (at the 5 way switch), when the tone pots are on 10 they are basically at 0 resistance letting all the signal thru clean when on 0 they are sending the all the signal thru the capacitor and that cuts treble. there should be 2 wires connected to the 5way for each pot, you can just remove them there.
  21. what does the switch do ? (i never used a crybaby) you could just swap it for another one thats the same and it should be good to go.
  22. doesnt matter if its on or off it will work the same way, when its on it will be splitting the signal i guess http://www.guitar-mod.com/wiring/coil_tap.gif
  23. yeah, that sounds like a coil split switch, what it does is bypass a coil of the humbucker so its only a singlecoil (should be a way to make 2 singles if you have all the cables comming out of the pickup like a lace dually)
  24. seems guitarjones.com is called http://www.guitarjonesusa.com/catalog/ now
