1. ive had a couple of squires and they are both different, i had a strat which was made of plywood glued together (horrid guitar) and a Fat tele that was a solid piece (maybe made of 2 pieces) i think it just comes down to price, the strat was only £50 whilst the tele was £140
2. guitar fetish make pickups like that... they dont seem to do strat ones though ive got a tele bridge pickup with oversised (bass guitar) pole pieces. http://store.guitarfetish.com/alfaovpotene.html would a tele neck fit into a strat ? i think it should but i never tried
3. they seem to have gone up in price here http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/shop/products.php?category=320 trisonics use to be £37-ish now they are £50
4. a little off topic(not the effects you mentioned), but a Fuzz face is one of the easiest pedals to build (hardly any parts), thats a rewarding first build.
5. i was going to try them but i dont know what they sound like i was after a beatles p90 tone, has anyone tried them ? (i made a thread about this a while ago and got no responses, maybe they are just untested)
6. you can ground it to the volume/tone pots by running a bit of speaker cable from them to the baseplate/cover. thats a bit of a crude way of doing it but it saves opening the pups up another thing you can do is shield the pickup cavity with grounded copper foil and then tap the ground off that
7. the red lace sensor dualie is 30k (2 15k single coils), but i havent tested the red pickup i couldnt say if it was a metal sound
8. nice pedal, which silicon transistors did you use ? and what diodes did you use ? going off this http://www.freeinfosociety.com/electronics...view.php?id=513 i found all the parts on banzai Transistors http://www.banzaieffects.com/2N5088-pr-16529.html http://www.banzaieffects.com/2N5089-pr-16530.html Diodes http://www.banzaieffects.com/1N914-pr-16443.html http://www.banzaieffects.com/1N4148-pr-16451.html
9. hey has anyone tried the gfs humbucker p90s ? http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Guitarfetish-Stor...7QQftidZ2QQtZkm im really after the 'Revolution' sound in a humbucker size for my Telecaster neck, but im having trouble choosing . if anyone knows of other humbuckers that sound like that could you push me in the right direction ? i had a little search and this is the only thread i could find about the type of pups im after http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=24372 any help appreciated = )
10. lots of people do that its proberbly the most common mod (swapping the pickups), its also worth buying a nice neck (but a bit more complicated as the fit might not be good)
11. i like to look on here now and then http://www.axesrus.com/
12. this rust theme is really nice the logo looks really cool (80's logo ?) i like it >D
13. i like that idea i thought about adding a mixer control to my next guitar (like a fader) to blend between each pickup
14. you can use 2 (master volume/master tone) or 3 (master volume/tone for each pickup) or 4 (2 volumes/2 tones)
15. i dont know if a pot is possible but in my opinion you would be better off using an EQ pedal like the boss eq or the behringer clone http://www.music123.com/Boss-GE7-Equalizer-i21781.music http://www.music123.com/Behringer-Graphic-...r-i156765.music
16. the first question is pretty simple they are like a humbucker but not a proper one, using a reverse pickup in middle is the nearest a strat is going to get to getting the humbucker sound (even though it sounds very different) from wiki "Many artists (including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Mark Knopfler) discovered that the pickup selector could be lodged in between the basic three settings for further tonal variety; since 1977, Stratocasters have been fitted with a five-way switch to make such switching more stable" 2nd question : you can make singles active with onboard preamp/eq other than that i dont know how. theres a few on this page http://www.axesrus.com/axeknobs.htm
17. yep i never heard of em. and the site doesnt have any info so thats me stumped. http://www.dragonfireguitars.com/index.php harmony got some info but i never trust these muso types they are always too excited... http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data2/Dragonfire/
18. yep you can use anything a nut/penny/tremclaw
19. prs santana pickups are good for the wamr clean sound but a little pricey not sure what they sound like with loads of overdrive
20. personally i never liked the sound (warpig) for 'heavy rock' the most impressive part is when somone puts some effects over it http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/download.php?id=528 personally i dont listen to that sort of rock music so my view on 'heavy' is a bit different i lean more towards the classic rock style
21. lol a little late imo the warpig is a bit overrated (never tried but heard demos) can get a similar sound out of GFS humbuckers for half/3 quarters the price
22. yep thats the right one also http://www.cascadesurplus.com/catalog/prod...products_id/977 http://www.banzaieffects.com/product.php?p...17&cat=0&page=1
23. should be possible with a trimpot (or 3) and a ON/ON/ON dpdt switch but the wiring of it all is beyond me atm
