  1. Lets hope it does. Have you started shaping the zebrawood yourself Travis? BTW. here are some rough mockups Dan did. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a118/D-m...mockupbass2.png http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a118/D-m...mockupbass1.png
  2. Are the wounds of your experience still fresh, or would you mind telling us what happened?
  3. That looks like a fun tele to play. Are you keeping the p90's cream? And is that a chip by the trebleside of the neckpocket?
  4. So that is why we drilled holes in our wood It does kind of make sense now that I read it, thanks for that info. We had the problem of the blade going off quite a bit sawing the proto wings, so this is a relieve to hear. And yes zebrawood can be very good looking wood. It looks really good with the fretboardwood we choose as well.
  5. We do have crappy weather here. Don't some say the Dutch summer is on a wednesday cause the weather is nice only once a year? And I didn't know RGGR is Dutch, well you learn something valuable every day. We do have these really weird, really big cars here we take everywhere, I believe some might call them trains and busses though. And we're not finishing the proto in the near future, we want to finish the real ones first. Great looking basses on your site btw Phil.
  6. Thanks for the kind words. We're leaving them unfinished since that wood is really hard, plus our most likely choice of strings is flatwound so there shouldn't be too much trouble with wear. The rest is going to have an oil finish. We should have some more progress by next weekend. I can't wait either.
  7. Yes, we do love our bicycles here, must be because the weather is always great for riding them everywhere. The holes seemed strange to me too, but a friend of Daniel's father recommended it. You drill the holes and then join them with a jigsaw. I believe the guy has been working with wood years before both of us were even born so if he says it's a good idea then I believe him as he seems to know what he's talking about. Never seen anyone else on this site do it though.
  8. I would measure an actual Fender somewhere if posible.
  9. That is a pretty wild looking top you have there. Nice color.
  10. That candlewax trick seems pretty neat. Also, your work looks great.
  11. So this weekend we did some more work on these beasts. Here's the all important pics. Bass 1. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...0I/DSCF1423.jpg Bass 2. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...II/DSCF1437.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...II/DSCF1433.jpg Both. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...es/DSCF1447.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...es/DSCF1445.jpg Should start cutting next weekend. These should be some really nice looking basses when finished.
  12. Looking good, that wenge really does have a lovely grain.
  13. That looks like it's going to be a seriously cool guitar. Nice choice of woods.
  14. Yes, a bit more oomph. I know exactly what you mean. I'd think a red slightly darker than on the V might look even better, but the red on that V looks killer aswell.
  15. Ebony pegs would look really nice with that koa I think. And I love the back of the headstock.
  16. That looks really good. Keep it up. Nice paint scheme, not sure which primer to use though.
  17. Such a beautiful bass you built there. Can't wait to hear it.
  18. Nice choice of woods and a great original looking design. Normaly I only like very traditional shapes, but this looks great.
  19. Thats lovely. What shade of green or blue are you thinking of? Cool idea of the nitro finish.
  20. That looks really cool, my only comment would be like RGGR that I don't really fancy the headstock. Otherwise really nice guitar you have there
  21. My reciever is only about ten years old and still has ground at the back. You have a good chance of actually having one as well, either one like Primal posted or a thumbscrew type thingie.
  22. I take it TPI stands for teeth per inch. Am I right?
  23. That hole is way too big, SG3390's is better. And practise makes perfect with fretting, I say go for it.
  24. That is a very nice top. Love the shape as well.
