  1. I kinda like the more natural look. Really classy and much more timeless in terms of colour fads etc. I think a touch of ambering from a poly could warm it up a bit without losing the clarity and natural look of the wood. Just my .02. Looks great btw.
  2. Aw, it's like just getting into a great book you're reading and then someone steals it... Post some pics! and take care
  3. Hi ya loud. Do you have lots of extra wood there? If so, why not rip the board once or twice, re plane the edges and glue them back together alternating the grain. One piece rings up, next rings down etc... That's the usual method and you end up with a piece of wood less prone to future warping because of the alternating grains.. Just a thought, but you'd lose 2 or 3 thicknesses of your saw blade.
  4. Yep, most likely the nut. Before you go taking the nut off, you may want to get yourself a straight edge at least as long as the fingerboard and check it for any "lumps", most likely low spots. They should show up pretty good on a fretless bass. Good luck.
  5. Hi ya there. Don't know of anyone "local" per say, but there are lots of suppliers for blanks and what not floating around. I've been having trouble finding local suppliers in Ontario myself and have come to the conclusion that I'll likely have to order a wood or a blank especially if I wanna go with swamp ash. Closest to local I can find is still 200 kliks away. Seems as though some helpful folk here only feel like lowering themselves to help us idiots if it serves their purposes, but I'll try to point ya in the right direction anyway. There are several decent suppliers of wood, blanks etc. on the home page of the Project Guitar site here. http://www.projectguitar.com/ref/supply.htm Hope that helps you if you can't find a local supply, and if you need more references just give me a shout. There are a few more I can dig up including the one I mentioned here in Ontario.
  6. Hi ya Midnight, if you send the file, I can print it for you. I can even do it on an adhesive vinyl if you'd like. That way you can just stick it to your blank and have at er! lol better yet, stick it to a piece of good 1/4" ply and you can re-use it later. Don't know where you're at, but shipping shouldn't be too bad. Just give me a holler if you need one done up.
  7. Hi ya Duff, don't know if it's the case or not, but the only time I ever felt like that was when I re did the cabinets in my kitchen. I felt overwhelmed half way through. So much work.... If that's the case, make some goals for yourself that are attainable. ie, today I want to have the rough work done, or have it ready for paint.. whatever, just little steps. Keep it simple and enjoyable or it will become a job rather than something you like to do. Sometimes bringing over a buddy to have a look and (hopefully) getting some positive feedback on what you've accomplished can help too. It can help to try to see your work through someone elses eyes. Overall, have fun, learn and "git-r-done" then show us lotsa pictures!
  8. 100 Rushes, 100 Triumphs, 100 Jeff Healeys can't make up for that. Ever. Do my Canadian friends now understand the mountain they must climb? (thanks for the link, weezerboy) ← One Tragicallly Hip can fix the worst we've thrown out to the world. Maybe throw in a few Barenaked Ladies for good measure! Anyone remember a band called the Headpins? lol they rocked.
  9. Sure Stiffy, what you need? email me if'n ya like.
