  1. Hah! really? I just re-watched it; its hard to tell with all that make up but it definitely looks like it could be him.
  2. Don't you just post your pics in the GOTM thread? http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=23247
  3. Love both, especially the explorer!
  4. Dammit!, another damn nice guitar to make my decision harder I really dont know who to vote for this month
  5. I saw a programme last night on Kerrang about the making of the Red hot Chilli Pepper's 'dani california' video, and in one of the scenes the basist uses the bass version of that exact guitar. He wasn't exactly keen on it (to say the least!) He said he hated the pickups, the look, the frets, the stupid shape.... basically listed every single aspect of it and why he hated it.
  6. Shouldnt there be a 'see' in that sentence? Sounds like a good idea to me. It would probably allow you to make the heel a lot less cumbersome too.
  7. Unlucky! Dont give up! I'm sure it'll work out eventually. Stewmac sell a tool for flattening the barbs on fretwire that may help: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_suppl...ing_Pliers.html I think heating the fret with a soldering iron before you pull it out makes the fretboard wood release oils and is supposed to make it easier. http://www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/fretting.htm Good luck sorting it out! BTW, when you say the slots are wide enough cos you bought it preslotted, did you buy the right fretwire for that size of slot?
  8. Looks really nice! Wenge is a great looking wood
  9. I'm not convinced you'd get better sustain... It will make it lighter though. [obviously]
  10. Looks great. Definitely enter for GOTM!
  11. Don't worry I will be doing when I get the time and motivation to make templates. The current scruffy routes are all smaller than their intended final size.
  12. Added a few more photos: http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mrbutteri...album?.dir=814e I got bored of it being all pale so I quickly wiped on some wood dye. It really brings out the wood grain. Also highlighted all the dents and scratches that needed sanding out. Sanding is so dull, yet seems so much more interesting after a couple of hours maths revision Exam on monday
  13. Very Very nice! I like explorers a lot.
  14. I think anything would look evil if that devil guy was playing it. Looked ok from that little bit of the video, but it really does look awful in real life!
  15. I dont think rokeros is criticising in any way... I too am jealous that someone 3 years younger than me is more skilled than me and can afford things I can only dream of Loving those wooden control cavity covers. Is this going to have a pickguard?
  16. Dont worry, I wont Its not really intended to be a metal guitar, I'm not even into anything more metal than a few metallica songs that I quite like. The bridge screams cheap because it was cheap as was pretty much everything for this project (except the stupidly expensive magents and wire for the pickups), cos its all I can afford.
  17. http://www.guitarbt.com There's loads on that site.
  18. When I started I thought it would be cheaper to rent than to buy a router, so I checked at the hire shop; £17.99 to rent per day, checked at local DIY shop, £9.99 to buy! Theyre probably not the same quality, but I've had no trouble with mine. Plus it has plenty of features (dust extraction, variable speed, free set of router bits). Renting is dead money, If you buy it you can keep it for future. A router is a very useful tool btw.
  19. BTW, I ordered the wire for my pickups/ driver last night, and I will be hopefully spending a bit of time in the next few weeks on the sustainer circuit and driver. Progress wont be too rapid though, as this will just be a sort of side project to keep me sane in whatever free time I have during my exam period. I look forward to seeing the progress of your sustainer David! Its great that you are trying new things; a piezo pickup and remote power. The word 'hexaphonic' that I keep reading in your posts keeps making me think how cool it would be if you could make a hexaphonic driver! That would be quite ambitious though, because you'd surely need 6 individual amps and 6 drivers, one for each string...
  20. !!! makes me feel ashamed of myself
