  2. A) I'm working with a hand drill. B ) I need to recess the knob holes. C) I'll probably end up using a tremelo (off a B.C. Rich) as a hardtail (The guy has a ton of parts he isn't using that he can give me so I'll probably get some more stuff as he finds them)
  3. OK I have $45 left over from my birthday and this upcoming tuesday is a truckload tool sale at the local national guard armory. Which should I buy? Thanks in advance.

  5. the stewmac book Guitar Finishing Step-By-Step is really a great book to buy and it will aid you in the future too
  6. only tools I have are electric hand drill and drill stand I've used my friends bandsaw and a church members router. I'm building another workbench for my workshop. FYI a drill stand converts a electric hand drill into a drill press.
  7. I built a carvin bolt kit guitar, but that was fully finished, and only needed to have the neck, tuners, bridge and prewired pickguard screwed on. I wouldnt even count that as a kit. I just like building stuff with my hands. I guess its in my blood. The machine shop in the picture is my fathers aerospace shop. I used the bridgeport milling machine for all the milling and routing out the channels, sanding with a sanding drum, and even cutting out the body binding channel. I guess I did use a dremel to touch up some places here and there too... I'll bet you had a ton of legos then
  8. verhoevenc, thank you for sharing this with us.
  9. If you want a haiwaiian sounding guitar a bigsby is about as close you'll ever get to a hawaiian sounding electric guitar. I can't explain it any better but if you want to hear how a bigsby sounds go to launch yahoo and search for rancid, watch the video for the song "Fall Back Down".
  10. I'm doing a gretch country style brown finish on my electric guitar and I don't want to pay stew mac 's minimum order so I want to buy it closer to home so where else can I get it at???
  11. Hey mattia please name a dollar store that sells coping saws. And mickguard I didn't ask what kind of neck pocket I should have I simply asked if the neck pocket should be mortised. And he isn't my "buddy" he's my youth group teacher at my church and he isn't building it for me I just have no experience at all with a router and I'd like to keep my fingers so I can play this electric guitar when I finish it.
  12. The thing is I don't know what bits this guy has all I know is he has 3 routers. And I know I cant make template unless there is a way to make templates with a cross-cut handsaw
  13. what should I cut it with then? And can we get onto the question about the neck pocket now????
