  1. would like a headphone speaker rim be right? and am i correct in thinking that because the speaker uses a magnet, it will play through the pickup? because i've put headphone speakers up to pickups and heard the cd in the amp.
  2. i can't say i like them; i played a strat with them in it, it didn't seem like they were anything special. i would rather have had some nice regular single coils.
  3. you mean that would stay on? i'm not sure, but i thought about this too. you know how they make knobs that are secured by a screw, right? i figure if you could get your hands on one of those screws, you could use that.
  4. sort of on topic: is there any reason i can't use a 1/4'' (rabbeting?) bit from ACE? it looks like it would cut the right channel. (it makesd a 90degree cut into the edge)
  5. must be some new flavor of potato chip or what you use to find chips you dropped between the sofa cusions. *oh no! i dropped a potato chip, and it fell in !* *don't worry! (pulls out big contraption that says lays sensor on it, finds potato chip, and eats it)*
  6. the adjustment nut ends up lower on the headstock (imagining fingerboard on top, neck back on bottom)?
  7. one question? with the 1/8 allen hot rod, they make it seem by the way they word it that you can't set it up so that it goes through the headstock on an electric neck. but you can, right? its just badly worded?
  8. sounds awesome, although i have no idea if it would work. paint it cheese color. and make varying hole sizes.
  9. i inadvertantly transfered ink with titebond. at it came out pretty clearly too. that suprised me.
  10. allright, thanks dudes... thats why i asked.
  11. no. just color until you get opacity, then clear over it all.
  12. in my search for a finish application style that is A. reletively easy and B. reletively cheep i have stumbled upon this. it could be what i need. but dos anyone here have any experiance with it? is it a pain to use in reality? or is it really good. (i hope...) PreVal spray Unit
  13. here- a P-bass is wired the same way, but with a bass pickup. pretend that whole pickup is just the p-90. the one going to the back of the volume pot is the ground. igonore the wire from one part of the pickup to the other. and the capatince on that cap is probably wrong, but you do use a cap of some sort. the P-90s use 250k i belive, am i mistaken gentlemen?
  14. does the p-90 have a metal mesh around the one wire? if so it is the ground, effectively the second wire.... this dumb comp dosn't have paint, i'll see about getting you one unless someone gets to it first...
  15. i dunno man, i'll bet they step on the strings to fret a note.
  16. ^lol the G on my strat style wouldn't intonate correctly, the saddle wouldnt move back far enough. i found that the saddle position screw was running into the edge of its cavity. i cut off the last 1/16 of an inch to make it work... may not help you if you have a dfiierent bridge, though.
  17. really... oops lol now i feel stupid... i swear i heard that repeadedly.... thanks wes and bluespressence. what about the neck? my guitar (i didn't build it) here looks like the neck is like 1 3/8'' with a 1 3/4" body.... plus fretboard- is that right for me?
  18. im makin a body, or i plan to. i know that 1 1/2 is the standard thickness, is it possible to make it thinner? im going to use a TOM and a set neck (les-paul like, no deep set tennons or anything) and how much wood of what size will i need to make the neck? (assuming i do a scarf joint on the headstock to be able to use thinner wood) please help, remember you were all newbies once too....
  19. waaaiiit a minute ... thats not a guitar nice job man
  20. the opposite being this- also a flying V Monster Flying V
  21. hey thanks. weight will probably be an issue if i do that... what is the thinnest i can make the body if i use a TOM?
  22. right, so im pretty sure that cherry is usable for a body, am i right? my main question is: how easy is it to work with? the thing is, its the same price as or a little cheeper than mahogany here. would you suggest it for a n00b over mahogany? (i've worked with mahogany before, and i really liked it) how does its sound compare to other woods? also, if i want to put on a TOM, do i have do a set neck, or can i find a way to work out an angle for a bolt on? and is it that hard to do a set neck? thanks for the and please dont laugh...
  23. lol. i guess i wont hammer it in, then... so do any of you see any reason i shouldn't do it DaveMan's vice strategy? assuming i buy stew mac cauls, instead of making my own... this would save money on the arbor (yeah i know its less than the press system, but its still $30 more than just the caul&vice method). it would also save wear on the drill press. im goin to bed, see you guys in the morning, thanks for the continued help
