  1. I strung it up and gave it a test run . Now it just needs to be sanded down and finished. I got 1 picture before the batteries died. Charged them up just enough to get that picture. Almost done!!!!
  2. I need to try bending wood binding again with a bending iron. I tried using a hair dryer after running the strips through hot water and ended in failure. everything bent fine all the way around the tele body until I reached the lower horn and it just snapped.
  3. I actually scaled it down sort of, I was using 2 Tascam DM24's. I really only used one, 2 was overkill for me. The Presonus Firepod is just so much simpler. I am going to add another one just for the drums. So I have 2 Tascam DM24's I need to sell now.
  4. My interface is the Presonus Firepod into a rackmount PC with an array of 6 harddrives for storage and the OS is running on a 7th drive. Dual LCD monitors so I can spread my work across 2 displays. Playback through a set of Tannoy studio speakers. I am using Cubase SX3, I have Nuendo but havent even tried it yet. I usually mic my cabinet but I have Guitar rig2 that I like also, it has lots of options and you can build whatever rig you want.My studio desk
  5. I havent tried a swirl yet but I would think you would need to mix gently and dip slowly so the colors dont mix too much .
  6. Thats awesome. I have a couple of airbrushes, one of these days I will have to get around to using them.
  7. My third neck blank showed up tonight, thanks man this is going to make a great neckthru. I already have a piece of mahogany that I bought on ebay and some how I didnt notice that it wasnt really wide enough for a body, but I can use it for wings on a neckthru.
  8. They make beautiful fretboards and its a nice change from the standard rosewood, ebony and maple.
  9. When I play its mostly heavy distortion and my 4 year old always hears and comes running in the studio and jumps on the drums and beats the hell out of them telling me to play faster, then he says I'm too slow and he won.
  10. I just used the 18" Hot Rod on a 22 fret 24.75" scale neck. It fits just fine.
  11. Money sent, this stuff looks great with maple binding. In fact I think its the best part of my first build.
  12. Awesome, now I will have to keep my hands off it till I finish the one I am working on.
  13. I am going to have to run over to Woodcraft this weekend and pick up that safety planer
  14. Oh yeah I should have mentioned it was on piece of poplar
  15. Lol ,yeah my Seymore Duncan Distortion Mayhems just ate up half that $300 budget.
  16. Yep, I just made a pickup template that extends to the back of the guitar and with the tape further back it didnt slip last night.
  17. This first build is definitely a learning experience, thats why I am trying so many different things in this one build. Even though I have made some mistakes its still alot of fun and I am enjoying it. the next build I will know a little better what to do and not to do.
  18. Wasn't me, I was looking at it but went with maple.
  19. I have only done 2 fret jobs so far but what I have learned is to over radius the fretwire a little bit.
  20. I use carpet tape and noticed it moves, maybe a bigger template that can be clamped with enough room to route.
  21. The drill press works well and 2 feet is not enough, I would order at least 6 feet because you will have some overhang that you will cut off and maybe some extra for screw ups if it is your first attempt. Buying in bulk is the way to go if you plan on doing more.
  22. Hey Jon do you have any more of these left? I love the color of it.
  23. I just bought another neck blank from you today, so I have 2 more guitars to build.
  24. For the ferrules I use a thin rod to stick inside and hit the edge and knock them out. For the bridge posts I screw the post in the insert and use a block of wood and a wrench to fit inside the gap of the post and pry it out.
