Curtis, If you the two of you are in a band then you guys are deffinatley on the right track! If you like what you hear now, in anothe rmonth it'll be ten times better. Playing in a band is t he ultimate learning tool. I can't listen to the clip cuz I am at work but If you have only been playing for a month and actually have the courage (and intelligance)to record what your playing then good on ya! You'll look back on the early stuff and be real encouraged by the prgress you will undoubtably make!

Universal makes a stand that has no bottom struts and holds the guitar by the headstock. It works PERFECT for a rhoads V (thats how I keep mine!) P.S. I forgot to mention NIce work!

Don't envy me please. It wasn't meant as a brag, just me being defensive (which is stupid so I apologize). The only reason I did get that solo down so quick was because I had a great teacher and because I was so obsessed with Randy Rhoads that I practiced that solo over and over for 4 hours a day. While I watched TV, while I ate, While I should have been doing my homework, you get the point!!! Again Sorry for the tone of that last post. I wasn't trying to be a jerk.

Umm btw I was playing that solo flawlessly my second month, which I think doesn't make me weak at all. but that doesn;t mean everyone can. If you start out trying stuff to high above your level, if you are not highly motivated it can easily frustrate you. Thats why I said if the PJ solo was to weak move one to Crazy Train. We all learn at different paces, whats important is that we all love the instrument. Teaching Success 101, let the student dictate the pace.

How beginner are we talking here? :| if that solo is being recommended seriously as a beginner thing, then godamn! im totally shut down Hehe I know whatya mean, thats not exactly the easiest solo oto tackl efor evryone. I'd say its is an intermediate solo at the least. Your talking about tapping, sliding trills, triplet hammerons and pulloffs,controlled whammy dives, and and half step bends. I think a good begginner solo would be the solo to Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam, It is pretty good for a beginner and it gives you a chance to try out some simple bends and fingering patterns. If you feel that's to easy then give a shot at the solo to Crazy Train.

i think a cheaper solution would be to stretch out before you start playing. I find that if I do hand strettching excersis (like the ones they suggest to keep the carpal tunnel away!) that Ihave an easier time swiveling my wrist into more extreme positions. But hey go for the shorter scale neck too if you like!

I use Peavey's the ones with the push button. I also like the planet wave straps that have the locking ends.

I'll get flamed for this but Ibanez, simply because they have solis electrics and acoustics, and I have always loved ibanez basses. plus they have great hollow and semi holows as well. just my 2 cents.

This isn;t a tapping suggestion, but if you are tired of how you have been interpretating (sp?) the blues, then try and listen to some of the Jazz Heads and how they play within the enre. Kenny Burrell is an especially bluesy player who adds a jazzy flavor to the blues. As far as tapping goes, just try to tap anything you can think of, riffs you know, patterns you've thought up whether it be tonbal or atonal. Some of it will stink, but some of it will be pure gold.

I'm in waht I guess you would call an average cover band. We do everything from country to classic rock, To beach music (north carolina beach music). I even got the old farts playing mama im coming home and eruption/you really got me! The name is currently Stur Krazy, though before that it was Mojo and before that Sho' Nuff. Sad names I kow. NO website, NO real gigs, however we've been together three years and we're on our 3rd lead singer, our second keyboardist, and we got rid of our female vocalist. To top that off our drummer is out becuse of back surgery and we have a stand in. We have 2 guitarists, bass, yeboard, vox, and drummer.

The guy got Andre Segovia's seal of approval, and anyone who has ever tried to tackle Andre Segovia knows that's a big deal. But yeah he is a cheeseball. THere is a guy on HSC who sells these jay turser seconds and he is good.

sorry to double post but good catch on my 2nd theory flub of the post nyjbkim! I obviously need to slow down a bit and think. I guess I shouldn't be trying to give theory tips while I'm supposed to be working! hehe

Cool, the "criticsim" I had in mind was in the voice leading. If you were actually playing this piece you may find some of the intervals to be a little challenging. Whenever I arrange a paice, I try to do it two chords at a time. Take your first two chords, In your case Cm7 and Eb maj7 are the two chords I fell are implied. Take the notes from each chord (C-Eb-G-Bb) (Eb-G-Bb-D) and sinngle out all the notes that are the same. you'll notice that only the C an D are different meaning this chord change is going to be a breaze. So when the Cm7 chord changes on the "and of one" to the Eb maj 7 you only have to move one note. It appears that most of your wide intervals are intentional though. Lots of ocatves. The only other thing I would keep in mind is to make sure for each chord change you have at least the root and the third of the chord included (I.e for a c chord the c and the e, or for a Bb the Bd and the d), It will make the tonality much clearer. And as a final note music doesn't have any real rules, just guidelines feel fre to ignore any or all of my suggestions in order to meet your artistic desire.

A fool isn't someone who doesn't know, but rather someone who doesn't know and refuses to learn anyway. My theory was bit off on my sugestion (A7 is not the five chord of Bb7) so I m going to change that first chord I suggested. play an F7, use the A in the bass and put an F and an Eb above it. Then go to Bb7 and then to the Eb. If you wanted to make a "hard change" to a different key then you could always go to a Bb instead of a Bb 7. You could follow up with any chords you desire within the key of Bb (Bb, Cm, Dm, Eb, F or F7, Gmin, or C dim). Does that make sense? Also did you wirte this piece so far? and is this a school assignment? Also if you wrote the peice would you up for some constructive criticism?

Umm if I am reading you notation correctly, you don;t seem to to have a pattern to your progression. You stay in key however. If you wanted to modulate ( which is what I think is what you mean when you say key change, if you wanted to litterally take the existing notes and put them into a different key then just correct me) you could always go from that final implied A chord to and A7 then to a Bb7 and resolve the piece on an Eb or an Eb6 for a bit more spice. The A7 will give you your required key change if only ofr a moment (V of V to the V very bebop!) If you don;t liek that let me know I'll think on it for a moment

If you like the picks you are using and don wont o go with gorrilla snot here is a trick you slayer fans may be familiar with. Take your exacto knife and score both sides of the pick with an X. Grip will improve!

I have a jackson FR on my RR PS3T and I had to have 5 springs on mine to keep it down to a playable level. Not really helpful info but interesting to me you had the same problem.

Yeah I know steelheart, the singer was mike matejevic (don't know the guitarists name) He went on to do about half the vocals for the Movie Rock Star. It sounds original to me at least. That falsetto is wacky! Its definately not for everyone. And i think that they tak ethemselves very seriously............ to an extent

you gotta just give hats off for the originality and brazen disregard for whats "pop" That and the guitar work is pretty much from the heart.

It irks me to see guys display their valuable colecters item auctions by laying it out on the front porch, or ona peice of concrete. YOur asking 12K on the guitar spend an extra 25 bucks on a genesis stand or something. If Im selling my car im going to go the extra mile and get it detailed.
