  3. Finally finished!!!!! and i am a happy bunny!!!! http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P4130253.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P4130254.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P4130255.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P4130256.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P4130257.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P4130258.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P4130265.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P4130268.jpg
  4. looking good! ... a word of caution though - i made a guitar case for my GCSE D&T project also - i made it out of ply and beech i think if memory serves me - anyway - once i had made a cracking carcass, with fantastic dovetails and nice locking latches etc - an issue became apparent - it weighed a hell of a lot!!! Dont forget that whatever you put in, you will have to carry!!!!! ... and i imagine if you have an amp in, and a guitar (be it elec or acoustic) it will weigh a lot... so go easy and plan well ahead with what you put in!!!!!!
  5. ... Thats some learning curve for me then!!! Cracking job, well done
  6. i dont normally like this sort of paint job but you have worked wonders...... TOP JOB... well done!
  7. Really clean work - looking forward to seeing the finished articel
  8. do it greet with yellow swirls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. ...as i previously said - i bought the body and neck premade off the internet - i think the chap MAY (??) have bouight it from woodycustom originally though - im not 100% sure. Thanks for looking though
  10. Glad you likes!!!! ...ironically enough though - i have got woodworking experience - i got an a at A-level design technology () - i made an ergonomically designed wooden lounger seat, out of flexible ply wood !! - but as you quite rightly said - youll end up prepared for the next one!!!! (not too sure the girlfriend would want ANOTHER project guitar though!!! |)
  11. ...thanks about the contouring etc - please remeber - i didnt actually do it - the body was precut etc - so i cant take any credit for that!!!! Hopefully drak can shed some light on this oil, wait, then lacquer then!!!! OI DRAKKK!!!>.. what say you!?? PASSIVE EMGS!!??? Im shocked!!!!
  12. http://invite.filmloop.com/x?3StEAI2awu3Oh...68hY/WjD4rt9BjY My guitar build so far! In the end - I opted for Colron natural danish oil which i bought from BandQ - i bought some decent cloths and have done a lot of polishing of my wood so to speak!.... its quite theapeutic really!!! ... just a question though... when should i stop??.. i could carry on for aaagggess in my opinion!!!?! I have been mostly oiling but i have done the rear cavity rout and have attached the machine heads, truss rod cover and have drilled the bridge and all the screw holes! - all ive got to do now really is attach the neck (dont panic, i have set the bridge according to the neck position to get the right scale etc !!) and do the electrics (and get a decent guitar strap!) .. I am aiming to try and get it finished by the end of the month! - as with all projects, it seems to be running over schedule and over budget!!! .... im enjoying it though (and it keeps me off the streets! ) Anyway... any comments please.. i know ive not done all the shaping etc... but im very proud of what i have done.. and as ive said, ive really enjoyed doing all the research etc and I cant wait to get it strung up! Enjoy http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/PC190287.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P1070050.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P1070052.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P1070054.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P1070057.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P1070060.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P1070062.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P1070063.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n146/ro...rt/P1070066.jpg
  13. Top noptch fiddle.. cant wait to see the finished article :o) well done
  14. Hiya folks - i am in the middle of finishing building my custom geetar with the EMG81/85 combination What i am looking for is a simple way of attaching/securing the battery to the guitar body in the cavity, so that it does rattle around (without using velcro !)etc. i was looking at this http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_p...nting_Clip.html , but as im in the UK, a 50p item will cost me £12 to get here! (not a chance!) and as such i was wondering if there was anyone in the UK who know where i could source one of these - the closest i have got so far is http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...ery&doy=6m1 but i wanted it in metal as the plastic might deteriorate over time... Any ideas oh oracles of the project guitar forum?
  15. Inspirational work there.... well done :o)
  16. Really clean work - cant wait to see this one strung up and polished out!... well done
  17. I see your point - i just think that the angle of the headstock would work well following the the line from the bottom left of the guitar (on the picture) to the upper horn... dont get me wrong i do like the headstock youve done, and i like your work that you have done previously, but i feel that you could do more with this one in particular!!! (thats a compliment!)
  18. I like the distortion idea .... it looks really cool ... not too sure about the headstock concept - what about a jackson dinky style reverse headstock?
  19. Cracking first job! well done matty!... just get its trung up and get some sound clips up on here!
  20. The cover will be recessed into the wood once i route the cavity channel out I am thinking of oils though for the finish - i still havent decided! - i would love to spray but feel it is too risky because - As i said in my original post i bought the neck and body as i wasnt brave enough to build/work it myself - just to reiterate partly because of lack of garage, and because i am a wuss!! (yes ive admitted im a wuss twice now i know! ) What i will be doing is constructing it! We all have to start somewhere
