  1. "The guitars are painted ebony and then rubbed with red filler; a satin lacquer coat completes the unique stained finish, showcasing the grain and allowing the wood to breathe." (From the site) What materials would I need to do this, and what steps would I go through? Can it be done with any other woods? Can I do it in green? thanks
  2. Yeah, scratch it a lot to the left of the pickguard like on SRV's strat. looks cool so far.
  3. Nevborn is a company somewhere in north-west europe that makes 8-string guitars and might sell you parts. They make the 8-string guitars that Meshuggah uses.
  4. Thats a pretty low price. Sweet looking guitar. And I love the gnome in the background.
  5. so use hot pickups or actives where you can boost the output.
  6. definitely bring one on the road if you're touring... but not so much if its a gig in your town lol.
  7. do they still make the JS signature guitar? i dont mean chromeboy, i mean the original one from the early 90's.
  8. I learned how to do it in a week or so but I'm not very good at either and what I play isn't very complex Black Flag's Spray Paint is a good song to start with.
  9. 'Cause thats so much easier to say than MWC! the idea is that people will eventually give up on trying to say it, and just start calling it "the one with the long name"
  10. i got it use a button which only makes contact when pressed, and put it right near the hinge, so that it only goes off when its at the very top, and is on at all other positions.
  11. The Lex Luthier/Matthew Welsh Stringed Acoustic and Electric Instrument Company.
  12. so they're that good, eh? i'm thinking very seriously about putting a set in my main axe. (the explorer.) How much cash did they set you back? Guitar center here sells em for 200. (b.s.!!)
  13. suede ones bother me because theyre too grippy and they make my shirt move, so i use whatever standard cheapo ones i find. i only have straplocks on my stage guitar because... well... i'm lazy.
  14. step one- turn amp up step two- stand next to it this will give you a more high pitched, atonal feedback, as compared to the residual string vibrations method whic gives you a harmonic feedback vaguely reminiscent of an ebow. (do what streamline said to get that one)
  15. Greg Bennett Explorer or Project Strat or Project SG through a Crybaby wah into a Crate MX65R, mic'ed with a Nady to the Crate PA into a set of Yamaha speakers really simple, but it gives me the sound i want.
  16. Get one of the old motherbuckers! (3 normal-size single coils) You could do so much cool coil tap stuff with one of those.
  17. yeah cause we put the new stop-piece sort of far back on this old guitar i've been working on, so that holes from the original flat-mount trem dont show. Anyway, it looks really nice and the intonation is oddly enough perfect. I was worried about it staying in tune but ive decided i have no worries there, it stays in tune pretty well. horrible cutaway though.,.. even though its an SG shape! definitely not the right guitar for a scallop job lol
  18. does it matter how far back you put the stop-piece?
  19. The Undeclared (in the hunt for a new name) www.theundeclaredband.cjb.net just one song there but its free to download
  20. so cut off some chunks of the guitar actually that'd be a cool project to reshape it and refinish it.
  21. hey wouldnt a sheet metal pickguard mean you wouldnt need to shield it?
  22. hey man its declan (rebelw/outacord) from UG are you guing to front rout it and do the pickguard thing like in those pics? it'd be pretty cool to do it back-routed so you can show off more of that finish the sustainer and the floyd should give you some interesting sounds. btw- do you plan on doing any custom stuff with your washburn?
  23. my band is gonna put some bass solos on our next disc. as for my for my favorite bassist... the one from cryptopsy has some chops... so did cliff burton.
  24. From Stew-Mac Top-Loading Hardtail Bridge The strings attach quickly and easily to slots in the bridge base (requires a routed channel in the guitar body) rather than feeding them through the guitar's body. we were so close!
  25. dimarzio evolutions? wait do they make those 7 string? nice wood there
