  1. hai... i don't really know much about fretless guitaar... but i'm quite interested with it. emmm... can the fretboard be scalloped after the frets are marked but instead of putting any frets maybe some sawdust to fiil in the place where the fret should be in the first place. can this be done or my imagination is too high?
  2. hai.. i'm probably gonna built a bass for myself soon, so, i have some questions in mind, if all of you don't mind to answer it. 1. how wide is the neck at the nut and at the end of the fretboard? how long should it be? 2. what is the drill bit size to drill the tuners hole? 3. is 1 piece neck ok? or should laminate some woods? i'm interested on making this as fretless but, is there any difficulties in playing one?
  3. hai litchfield, could you explain more on your methods of making neck faster and less waste?
  4. i got 3 suggestions in mind. 1. jetglo black, with sparkles on it 2. material finish 3. natural finish i'm sure he'll like it.
  5. Is it 2" with the tops on or without the top? BTW, thanks for the diagram. it sure'll help me a lot on my next project of PRS.
  6. i think its hardwood. as much as i know, hardwood usually related to sustain and good tone, while softer wood, well, not really good in its tonal properties.
  7. Steven Kersting i think his telehawk should answer your question.
  8. the T.O.M. is consist of the tailpiece and the stop bar right? if i don't want a neck angle on the les paul, i'd just recessed the body so the TOM, would have the same level as the nut. am i right?
  9. i admire you hyunsu. your guitars would always leave that awesome feelings. you're such a persistent builder.... thank you for being the inspiration!
  10. yeah bob7, mimf.com.. it's stands for musical instrument makers forum. a forum that i found first before this forum. pretty good also if you are a newbie. just try check it out! (i'm not promoting their site for any string attached ok? just helping...)
  11. chisel to move the frets out? is this really posibble? i mean, if it's not a recommendation but agreeable, i would try it as a practice then, used it on one of the neck that i have lying around.
  12. i want to build a les paul, with natural look, with black binding, and black hardware. esp kh 1, prs dragon, ibanez jem (custom)
  13. well, i'm interested also to get that kind of beautiful tops for my guitar. i'm in malaysia. do you have any idea of the current money exchange? or plus the shipping?
  14. i'm interested with it. i'm in malaysia. so, what is the detail? current money exchange? shipping from there to here, in malaysia.
  15. well, if you can't find em, build em! just try to have a close look at the design at remember it by heart and with some luck and confidence (a butt load of it of course), you can have it on your own. my 2cents opinion.
  16. you're in a BBBIIIIIGGGG dilemma daveq. i can tell that. my uncle once in a condition just like you. he had his guitar, signed by one of the local guitarist that, plays extremely well, and a bit famous here. at the time (round the 80's) it's a bit hard to get your hero signed for you but him, he got his guitar signed! but then, he made a mistake. dunno if it's a big deal or not, but he had it signed on his custom guitar, which he planned in the beginning to sell it to a friend. he was in dilemma as the guitar now holds two things, his friend downpayment for the guitar and also the signature of his guitar hero. you know what he had done? rip the body off, make a new one, which he used avery hard but good wood, to make the body. he sacrificed a bit more but he got his guitar framed on the wall. btw, that's a nice axe man. whatever that you do, don't regret your own decision man.
  17. thanks for the reply. however, the amp is ok, as i'm using a barnd new marshall amp, but the guitar just stood silence. i've check the solder joint and they're ok. i'm wondering if i had to buy new pickup? can i avoid this? can anyone give any clue or suggested anything that might help?
  18. woahh.... that's pretty awesome... i'm beginning to wonder whether my guitar would be as good as others would be...
  19. just take note on where is the hardware before you remove it, how they were install, take notes on the wires, which goes where, desolder the electronics carefully, put everything in a right order, don't jumbled up the screws, put everything that you had removed at a place where you can retrieve it later, easily, and beyond children reaches, and you are good to go.
  20. i know yer feeling curtis. complete my neck yesterday and when i attached it to the body, i was cried with joy. its like to have a wife, but in the making. i don't know. but i don't have any camera to share it with all of you.
  21. thanks stonescreed. that was absolutely the help that i need. now i can forward to make that accoustic/electric/semi solid guitar of mine without worrying.
  22. i cut my body with a jigsaw. yeah, you read it right, a jigsaw. but you'll have to give some extra space for the final size of your body design as it can be a bit tricky on the rounded side and plus, it will somehow angled downwards when it cuts, so, the upper side and the lower side will not be exactly at the same size. but it's an option.
  23. yeah, good design man... i like your idea kramerkrazy. the one that you are building right now called war monger, and another one should be peace keeper. hey, i like that. can i used the name to my guitar also? maybe some extra numbering but war monger is kind of cool... can i?
