asm
very nice. ive never seen a 1piece flame maple body. looks GREAT. nice walnut to, what kind of finish is that on there?
erikbojerik
Maple, walnut and ebony are all beautiful woods, and that is very nice clean work! They are also very bright woods, so I would choose some pickups with some warm tones in them.
hyunsu
hi .. finish is Lacquer, i use Lacquer Sanding Sealer + Lacquer mixed, not hardcoating.. smooth.. easy to scratch.. T_T i have no buffing.. so.. use hand sanding.. final #600 sandpaper use.. finish is too difficult to me than make neck & body..

guitar_ed
Hi Hyunsu, We have a saying: A picture is worth a thousand words. Your English language skills might not be very good, but the quality of your work speaks clearly. So no need to apologize. Very pretty, very nice. CodFather
once again a very nice and well built guitar hyunsu *applauds* I always enjoy seeing your work and i have to say you get very nice woods ^^. I can't wait to see the strat, post some progress pics BTW how are you going to fix the control panel plate on? the only way i can see is to make it bigger then the whole and fixing it on, but that means its would stick out. Is that what you want? Edited August 31, 2004 by CodFather

josh
hyunsu, you're a one-man production line for some killer guitars. that's some great work you're doing, and all that flame is blinding me!
daveq
Very nice work. I love that maple body. Many people will say that an all maple body is too bright but I love the sound of maple bodies. In fact, I have a guitar with a maple body, maple neck and maple fretboard and love the way it sounds. You've got access to some beautiful wood and I'm glad you treat it so well. For buffing the lacquer - (if you want to try it) - the buffing wheels that stewmac sells for drills work very well. You have to be careful to not let the plastic portion hit the guitar but other than that - they bring out a great shine to a lacquer finish (while using buffing compound with them of course). Keep those pics comming!
Guitarfrenzy
hyunsu, first off great job on your guitars. What I'd like to know is, are you going to cut out some tone chambers like Fender did with the Thinline Telecasters in 72 when they started to use some Northern Hard Ash. If not that guitar is gonna weigh a ton. Even using Southern White Ash, it's weight tends to vary, I had to chunk my Driskill copy because the weight of the wood was simply a little more than I wanted. Sometimes you don't know until you've cut it out. I try not to go over 2.5lb's a board foot. Just curious is all. Keep up the great work, it makes coming to this site so much fun. Guitarfrenzy
Yes lucky1, the wood I got for this body was too heavy for me, I didn't quite notice it until after it had already been cut. I could have cut out some tone chambers in it and placed a cap on top, but right now it's just better to move on since the wood was free anyway.. haha I'm also not sure I'll do a Driskill after all, since I've been making some designs of my own and I want to get something started along those lines. I plan on buying alot of lite ash if the deal comes through, in the next couple of weeks, but right now I'm gonna be using honduras mahogany with quilted maple 13/16" carve top. I'll keep you guys posted on how things are going.
