Zaxlash
I just ordered the 60A for the bridge of my axe...anyone ever try the 60 or 60A in the bridge position? if so, did ya like it?
krazyderek
i like the 60 in the neck with a 85 in the bridge, but didn't james hetfield use a 60 in the bridge? i'd imagine you'd get his crisp treb sound.
Zaxlash
I thought he did too, but upon recent investigation...I found he uses an 81. I dunno. Josh Rand of Stone Sour uses two 60's, but I've never really listened to them. I guess I'll just try it and see!
krazyderek
i imagine in the past 20 years, james has used something other then the 81, on occasion his guitar always did sound a bit different then kirks to me...
Maiden69
He started using 2 81's but then switched to the 60 on the neck. Check this site for more info on his guitars http://www.allmetallica.com/info/equipment/james.php I love his explorers and will most definately try to make something like the Ken Lawrence one. I don't know what sound you would get out of the 60 in the bridge, but I would must definately put it in the neck and get an 81 or 85 for the bridge. MzI
it sounds alright, nothing special, its a lil warmer then the 81 and lacks on the output, id go with the 81 MzI ps and james uses a 60 in the neck and 81 in the bridge
westhemann
james guitars generally sound different because he prefers mahogany and kirk seems to prefer alder...at least in the old days and he likes a dryer amp tone than kirk as well
krazyderek
guess the emg site is just a bit missleading, or i'm dislexic.... either way i agree, it's a great neck pickup!!
