TGwaH
What's your favourite chord change in a song? I like going from E to F#m (a la 'Tangled Up in Blue') and D to F#m (like in 'Across the Universe'). Hell, I just really like F#m.
Fluke
G to C and D is a classic.

lovekraft
Standard notation - the first part is the Roman numeral for the root of the chord (the scale degree in the key you're playing - in C, ii=Dm), using upper-case letters for major chords and lower-case letters for minor chords, followed by any altered or added notes (7 for dominant 7th, 6 for major 6th, etc). So in G, that progression would be Emin7-Amin7 -D7-G, while in E, it would be C#min7-F#min7-B9-E. It's sometimes called the Nashville System, and it's definitely something every guitarist should know about.
crafty
Standard notation?! ***?! Do I look like Yngwie to you?!! Seriously though, being able to use notation and transposing from key to key is something every serious guitarist should learn to do at some point. It's not that difficult to figure out.
